I got emotional watching your video. The homework you give is what i do every day. I am a photographer / beaded jewellery maker and soon to be professional organizer with a big passion for interior design. I used to have pictures of Brancusi sculptures and i just realised, when looking him up, how much i miss art. I have always felt the flame ignite when spending time on art, whether it be my own or someone else’s. But i have spend way too much time on things that aren’t that important out of fear of really putting myself out there with what i love to do, make and talk about. Which is art, nature and how to create a home that brings you joy. I will be turning 40 this year and everything inside me is now screaming ‘be the artist you were born to be’. I am not saying this to sound dramatic or claiming i am super talented or anything. It is just that i have been putting what’s important on the back burner for too long. So this video really struck a chord 💗 Thank you for sharing, love your country house btw, it looks amazingly peaceful 🌸
Awww babe--don't discredit your talent (just want to say that to you). You deserve to explore and create in your own way, the way that you feel called to do. I am a painter and I have some of my paintings hanging in my living room and the powder room. I also collect other artist work and hang those. I have a large collection of art books and decorating and design books which I have on my coffee table and in bookcases in my bedroom and dining room. I love my huge window in my living room and every morning I open the blinds just as the sun comes up and I sit on my couch and watch the shadows move across the rooms in my apartment. I love my home and when friends come over the first thing they do is look around my rooms to see what I have going on in those room.

I think you are quite a breath of fresh air in the interiors world. It is lovely to have a goal of guiding others to unlock their unique personality. I have always been doing things in my own vision and flare- from the way I dress to the kind of property I purchase (or in the past, rented). Unique. I am slowly renovating a place in France, and it is a project that unfolds slowly but with great purpose. Indeed, it is very important to live in a house for a while, before you understand what works for both the building and your lifestyle. I am an artist and this has been VERY inspiring to me. My husband and I are buying a very modern “cookie cutter” apartment - brand new construction - here in Portugal. It is what we can afford in our retirement years. Yet, I want it to become our unique space that is surprisingly unique and welcoming, filled with creativity and inviting curiosity in our guests. I think I will try to incorporate a window wall in the entryway…and perhaps wall paper that is a lovely neutral texture. Plus, I love your idea in another video of framing in surprising ways!
Oh lovely! Portugal. We were supposed to visit last year but we bought our house. We’ll visit soon. Cannot wait. I am sure you’ll come up with some beautiful ideas to incorporate your creativity and artistic eye. Please keep me posted. More ideas from me coming soon 😘
Oh thank you Melinda! I got this from Banana Republic a couple years ago. I sometimes get comments on my clothes (like where did you buy it?) on this channel and I'm always like, "Oh I got that a couple years ago." I try to only buy things that are authentically me so they stick around for a long time, but not the best if someone wants to buy the same item. I suppose I need some new YT clothes hahaha PS Love that you are seeing these beautiful details too--it's so important to notice the simple beauty of the world.
Hello! I am renovating a house in France (Nevers). In my past homes, I observed I got tired of the way I decorated it. And as I was looking back at it, I realized that's because I unconsciously followed trends. I was not looking for it but I was influenced. So now, the process for designing my home is : - I remembered how were all the spaces I visited and really like / felt good in. For example, I notice I love colorful kitchens and I always feel good in light sunny yellow living rooms and I always dreamt of a checkerboard floor in my kitchen or entryway. - I follow trends. The point is to check out if something I planned is on trend. If it is, I wonder if I like what I planned because I REALLY like it or because it is on trend : since when do I like this color/type of furniture/shape? Is it recent or old? If it is recent, it means I am surely influenced by a trend and I will be tired of it when the trend is out. So I change my plan. It is an iterative process. And well, I did not think of looking at art I like before as you recommend it but now I saw your video, I notice the home I designed is a lot like the art I love : colorful, soft and a bit magical (Odilon Redon, the nabis etc)
Wow what an incredible realization! I love that you have a process now to asses what you’re bringing into your home. “Since when do I like____?” Is so good! This advice is gold and I want to share it (giving you credit of course). Thank you for taking the time to share your process with us all. I want to see photos of your home! I image the sensitively to color must be beautiful.
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio thank you! Yes you can share it of course. I started working on my home last September so it is not done at all yet but I can send you some SketchUp pictures if you want.
Knowing trends is good. You can avoid them or shop, if the trend is what you always loved. Wood gets darker and now you can buy light wood and Skandi on sale, great.
@@limonade2684 you are right! This is why purchasing what you truly love is great. It doesn’t matter if it’s not trending any more, you love it and now it’s on sale. You win 🙃🤍
I really enjoyed this video. I've watched it twice. And I've shared your videos with others. Your home is lovely. The views outside of your windows are artwork. I am very drawn to artwork and photography of trees, so what I see outside of your windows is amazing to me.
You’re awesome! Thank you SO VERY MUCH for being supportive! I love the views here and am so happy to be this close to nature. It’s such a huge contrast to being in NYC. Also TREES 💚 I just started reading “The Hidden Life of Trees.” I highly recommend if you’re drawn to this. They are truly exceptional beings! And I too love tree photography.
After just painting my bedroom in fine wine and noticing how a painting of a rose I painted years ago sits just in the hallway outside my room, I was thinking the same way-- my home is my art!
As a fellow interior design enthusiast, your description of the wine painted room and artwork sounds so alluring and romantic. Enjoy your lovely space!
Home is my Sacred Place ! Thank you so much. This is beautiful, because with this in mind comes the inspiration to create a beautiful place . The sacred is in the beauty . Thank you.
Yes you’ve got it!! Thank for being here Carol and sharing. Today I’m making a video, which might be a series, but I’ll share how I make my home my sanctuary-things that can be done today or with any budget 🤍 I hope this speaks to you as well!

How refreshing! Thank you! I have always loved how light plays in our home! You are speaking my language! Our home looks like us.. not what an influencer bought from a store and decorated their home with. So glad I found you!❤❤❤
You are so welcome! I’m happy you are here!!! 😘 Home should always look and feel like us. It’s an extension of us and we all deserve to express ourselves in our home 🤍
That's interesting you say almost perfect, I think that's why we can see so much beauty in the light and the shadows and the changes that happen from the seasons. thank you so much for the images. this is just so encouraging to think about our surroundings because everything's always changing which is beautiful and I think that's why we can see beauty in trees with no leaves.
This is very poetic Beverly. I love what you said about the beauty in the light and the shadows, with the changes of the seasons. It’s in being fully present that we both see and feel the beauty of life! Btw I keep branches in vases with no flower or leaves. It’s the lines that capture my eye. “Beauty in the trees with no leaves” 🤍
Fantastic channel - your guidance about finding your own style is terrific. The idea of having a sense of good personal taste rather having signifiers of 'popular' taste. Love your sense of light, proportion, and inspiration!
Wow thank you!!! I appreciate your kind words and the fact that you’re letting me know! Personal style is much more important than any trend could ever be 🤍

Thank you Mary. I love truly home and what it can give to us-it is such an important place for us all. It can heal us, bring us together, nurture us, shift our outlook on life and our lives 🤍
It IS just like a blank canvas. Do you think it’s kind of like asking the space-or maybe sensing-what wants to come forth? Haha I hope that makes sense!
Yes that and I imagine each room telling a story about my family. I have 3 guest rooms and each room is different and each room has tons of family pics. I love decorating.@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
Your home is beautiful. One day, consider painting your interior doors. I painted mine Sherwin Williams Iron Ore, a very soft black and it’s a WOW to everyone who comes to my home. Black doors are classic and look beautiful in any style home, especially homes with a lot of natural light and light furniture and decor. I’m loving your channel. I do not have a degree in interior design but have studied it for years and have done many jobs for friends. I try to show people that they can always improve their space by painting, changing things around, and buying only a few new accessories. Most people don’t have the money for a whole house interior change, but there is so much we can do to make our homes more beautiful using what we have.
I love what you're doing. Some people like you just have natural talent! I like your suggestion to paint the doors. We have also been searching from some older doors to swap out, something with more character These are the original doors from the 50s--but maybe a little paint is just enough to dimension before we do our renovation. I want to salvage as much as possible when we do renovate. I also love Iron Ore---such a good contrast.
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio I really want to replace my contractor grade interior doors one day but goodness, doors are so expensive and I have at least 25 doors to replace. It’s a project I’m saving for. Keep the videos coming you’re a classy lady with good taste.
Ahhh wonderful luv. I’m so happy to know that it made a positive impression on you. You’ll see your home in a fresh new way. There’s so much beauty just waiting for you to notice it 🤍
I enjoy your videos very much. I also have an artistic eye. With that being said after seeing the shapes reflected on your window shade, it would make an interesting abstract painting. 🤔. You never know where you can find inspiration.
Yes! You are right ☺️ Inspiration is everywhere! I love finding it in unusual, unlikely places. What a great suggestion for a painting. I’m so in love with reflected light on the walls and when the light seeps through the drapes! It’s those little things we notice that feel special. Little secret wonders on display patiently waiting for someone to notice ✨
How refreshing! Looking at designing a home as a reflection of those who live there is not a new concept but one that is seldom mentioned. I look forward to more thought provoking videos!
🤗🤗🤗Maureen thank you for getting it!! I’m so happy you’re here and contributing your thoughts. Makes my day!!! I look forward to being you more inspiration and things to ponder 😘
I absolutely agree. Christina totally gets it. I just said yesterday that I am so sick of seeing “showroom floor" decor in people’s homes. When someone walks into your home they should learn some about you when they look around and see instantly what’s important to you or what inspires you. These cookie cutter beige spaces that everyone wants are so boring.
WOW! I love this. I’m constantly taking photos of my home including in different light. I thought it was strange I did so , but I love looking at the shapes, contrasts, negative space, relationship between decor items and furniture, etc. I do have an art background and I attribute my decorating sense to that. I use a palette of white, creams, brown and black and I can see a myriad of “color” in that palette . Thank you for this video. I will subscribe and look forward to more.
Ohmygosh we’re from the same tribe!!! Yes I LOVE that you also do this. It’s a special thing to see the world this way 🤍 I too get so much pleasure coming back to these photos for inspiration!
@@dianerussell2835 Thank you so much! You are so lovely and I appreciate you spending your time over here 🤗 I’m regrouping this week to level up the content with more creative thinking and finish up my website-but back next week with a new video. Just letting you know 😘 Enjoy your weekend babe!!!
Greetings from South Africa. I am in the process of purchasing a beach apartment. It has amazing character, but it's beautiful architecture has been spoit by bad taste in fittings and fixtures. I'm going to strip it down to it's bare bones, and start a fresh. So I have been watching many interior design TH-cam videos, browsing through magazines and reading many different books on interior design. There are so many which are only depressing me because they just not striking a cord with me. Then I found you. Thank God. You are encouraging us to express ourselves but at the same time giving us structure and guidelines. Thanks for the homework. You inspire me. I love the way you say that the mantel piece won't look the same in a few weeks time. Yes if everything in our homes stay the same that's boring. A big 👍
Awwww absolutely, Linda. It is my pleasure and I’m thrilled you’re here. I hope to continue to inspire you with your new home renovation. How exciting! Keep me posted on your progress! 🤍🤍🤍🤗
I LOVE the assignment! We just bought a house. Moving in soon and the suggestion to take video and pics at different times if day is going to be so much more inspirational and relevant than just being on Pinterest. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest and it gives some interesting ideas. But your video was such a powerful reminder to not rely on it solely. Get up and look around my own home, books and garden… love your style!
Yes you’ve got it babe!!! Excited for you! Imagine having a home that feels like an extension of you. You look around and everything makes you smile 🥰 I definitely use Pinterest to get some ideas but also more importantly, look to your space/home to guide you and inspire you. There is so much inspiration there and in life. Movies, books, music, food, etc all things can bring you inspiration-but most importantly trust yourself in this process 🤗 Your home doesn’t have to look like someone else’s to be beautiful, memorable and nurturing ✨ This is what designers do with their clients to create a home that is unique-and you deserve that too!
Hi Christine 😊. Thanks for sharing. I know that feeling of wow! This is different and my mind starts to get excited!!!! You by the way… are making my mind feel inspired!!!! Thank you ❤
So happy that I found your channel. I’ve been in my house for 4 years and am just now trying to make it a home. It’s been very hard to know how to decorate it because I feel like it doesn’t have any character so we decided to start adding character with small projects. We shall see… 🤞
Ahhhh well welcome Lisa 🤗 Definitely keep me posted on your progress. You should join one of the Lives next time and submit your home for some ideas. Also I made a video on adding charm but I definitely plan to do another soon. PS So nice to see you here!
I love the afternoon golden/gloaming hour. I am happy to see that there are other people out there like me who could stare at light patterns all day. I always thought I was different,LOL. The State I live in has mica and I collect it and put it in my art so that when the light hits it, it sparkles like diamonds.
I looooove mica. So beautiful. Yes babe you are not alone. lol in fact the video today is all about being an aesthete-which if you love to stare at light patterns all day 🤍 I’m guessing you are one too!!!

Hi Vero! The rug is from West Elm. It’s the Lumini Rug, 2.5x12, in Alabaster. I added the link to the description. It’s extremely well made, it’s subtle and classic-I love it!
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudio thank you so much! I was looking everywhere for a neutral color carpet for my living room so I can play with some color with the rest of my decor and I believe I found it! Thanks to you . I’m glad I found your channel 🩵, I like your personality and content out of the ordinary.
@@verovale5029 You are so sweet! I appreciate that! I like your plan. That’s what we’re doing in the living room. It’s calming to have a neutral base then layer in colors 🤍
Good question! It’s because of the living room layout. There’s a fireplace to the left-which is perfectly aligned opposite the window. The living room is long and narrow and we can’t have the sofa in front of the fireplace (we use it a lot) and it doesn’t flow right to have it on the sides.
I thought I was slightly or a lot crazy because when do an area in my home I will always say to my husband don’t get to attached because things can change on a dime lol
Ohmygosh I love it!! 😂 no you are not crazy-unless it’s good crazy and that’s awesome. I am really laughing out loud over here. I say the same thing to my husband Jerry. I can just see him shake his head but I know he loves it!
I am from Europe and I never understood why the Americans put the head of their bed against the window. When I wake up, I want to look outside, not inside. The wall protects me emotionally and literally, not the window. There might be a draught under the window. You shut out the light during the day and it is too bright sleeping next to the window. I dont know any European room, where the bed is next to the window. Is this a Feng Shui thing?
Good comment. I think it’s more of an interior design limitation really. I too prefer to open my eyes looking out a window, not under a window; however, some rooms have poorly designed layouts that do not take into consideration where the bed will go. Also older homes are not necessarily designed for king sized beds! Or even queen for that matter and so there may be a wall that faces a window, yet the space is too narrow. Outside of that I cannot say. Maybe someone just likes it 🙃 In terms of energy, there’s a lot of energy coming into the home through the windows so not a good place to rest your head. It would disrupt one’s sleep.
BTW your paintings are far superior to any you showed from that book. I can see how they inspire you but yours blow them out of the park… just sayin’ 😅
Thanks Carolyn ☺️ our home is still a work in progress and we have pillows on order in non-beige colors. Also with my anxiety I do find these colors soothing to me 🤍
I just looked at the video again and I think you’re referring to my paintings in the background as too beige? This is my office where I store when outside of the city studio. Aww I love my paintings 🤍 I’m sorry to hear you don’t like them.
@@ChristinaDiStefanoStudioi love your paintings!! I just discover your channel. Love your take on creativity and our individual uniqueness. I am still exploring mine .
I actually love color-but I still love your beige too, because it has texture, interesting shapes, natural elements. I think, when the individual style and story of the home owner shows-it is unique and interesting regardless of the color palette.

@@leaazencot5905 Yes that would be perfect! I’ll put my email address in the notes above 🤍
That sounds beautiful! I love the color of wine. It holds so much feeling and is utterly intoxicating (the color)-the wine, yes but I mean the color 😂

Love your videos and message regarding us and our HOMES. Thank you Christina.🙏
Thank you Mary. I love truly home and what it can give to us-it is such an important place for us all. It can heal us, bring us together, nurture us, shift our outlook on life and our lives 🤍
I'm an artist as well, and when I decorate I definitely approach each room and vignette as a blank canvas.
Aww I love the family pics in each room ❤️

Yes they are! I have a vision in my mind, something like a vintage reeded glass door so the light moves through it.
Your message is exactly what I've been searching for. I'm going to try observing and filming in my home more....
Ahhh wonderful luv. I’m so happy to know that it made a positive impression on you. You’ll see your home in a fresh new way. There’s so much beauty just waiting for you to notice it 🤍
I enjoy your videos very much. I also have an artistic eye.
With that being said after seeing the shapes reflected on your window shade,
it would make an interesting abstract painting.
I love your videos! Thank you for being so in touch!
Awww you’re so welcome Marisa 🤗
I love what you said about someone walking into your home and learning something about you-what’s interesting and important to you. Beautifully said 🤍
Really great advises, thank you! It's a fresh look about interior design. Not just another "copy pinterest or most known designers".
You’re very welcome Carolina 🤍
I love your inspiration! Not always the same thing every TH-camr is sharing
Thank you Diane! I pride myself on independent thinking!! So nice to meet you here 🤗

Thank you 🥰
Very much enjoyed the video. Looking forward to doing the homework
Ooooh yes!!!! If you like, let me know how it goes!
You look around and everything makes you smile 🥰
I definitely use Pinterest to get some ideas but also more importantly, look to your space/home to guide you and inspire you. There is so much inspiration there and in life. Movies, books, music, food, etc all things can bring you inspiration-but most importantly trust yourself in this process 🤗 Your home doesn’t have to look like someone else’s to be beautiful, memorable and nurturing ✨
This is what designers do with their clients to create a home that is unique-and you deserve that too!
Hi Christine 😊. Thanks for sharing. I know that feeling of wow! This is different and my mind starts to get excited!!!! You by the way… are making my mind feel inspired!!!! Thank you ❤
Wonderful Laura!!! I'm so happy this inspired you!
Thank you for your content. I learn so much. Will you share where you purchased your blouse?
That blouse was Banana Republic from 2021. I bet you can find it somewhere. I feel like they had a similar one last spring. Good luck! 😘
Christina,
You have a very helpful, targeted take on designing a space. Would you ever launch a blog/newsletter?
This is the plan but most likely not until mid-summer simply due to my schedule. I will get there for sure. Thank you so much for asking, Hanna!

Please can you share the link of your rug 4:10 thanks!
I'm curious why you have the sofa facing the room rather than the window?
Also I reorganize things a lot and he’s always asking me where things are because I find a “better” place for them 😉

WELL SAID, MARCIA 🤍
THANK YOU! Wow that is very sweet you to say 🥰 I’m taking a screen shot of this to read when I need a confidence boost!
Just tooooo beige…..you are just too pretty to be around rooms with no color
Thanks Carolyn ☺️ our home is still a work in progress and we have pillows on order in non-beige colors. Also with my anxiety I do find these colors soothing to me 🤍

I actually love color-but I still love your beige too, because it has texture, interesting shapes, natural elements. I think, when the individual style and story of the home owner shows-it is unique and interesting regardless of the color palette.
