  • FINALLY, I was able to upload again, and this video will be my first build on this channel. I talked a lot about the frame as it's almost impossible to find good information about this frameset. Hope you enjoy the video and the audio is ok. Will definitely film more of it on a ride soon!

    Funny enough, my 1980s Fuji fixie hasnt been ridden in 10 years and Ive considered converting it back to a regular bike. Cool guys are still doing this.

    I was so thrilled to see this pop up! I converted an identical Palisade to fixed. Mine was in rougher condition, so I hacked it up and custom painted it. One of my favorite bikes I’ve ever owned, the simple joy of old fixed conversions is amazing.

    Nice job, i will say having a fixed gear or single speed bikes is nice not having to deal with gears etc. Just get on and ride.

      Thanks for watching! Seriously that is such a true statement, really eliminates being conscious of the bike so at times it just "disappears" and you feel like you're flying lol

    Looks sick! Nice how black and white are balanced throughout.

    Hey man, I have this same exact bike but it didn't come with a seatpost. Would you mind sharing what size seatpost you used? Build looks awesome!

    • @newoldsteel
      @newoldsteel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it! The seatpost that worked for me is a 26.4mm. There are some variations on eBay, but one in particular (the one in the video) had a lot of setback. But also the alternative is find a vintage/used one. It is an oddball size!

    I’m enjoying the bike so far th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

    Vertical dropouts.... how did you tension the chain?

    • @addvurtbikes
      @addvurtbikes ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not actually vertical, but diagonal, which makes it basically as easy as horizontal, except the chain tensioning has a minor impact on the frame angle, because further back also means higher up.

    • @B_COOPER

      @Fran fiocchi what are you even trying to say

    • @B_COOPER
      @B_COOPER ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@addvurtbikes I’ve done a few conversations with the semi horizontal drop outs. Ideally a new chain will have perfect chain tension in the same spot as if you had a derailleur and gears to accommodate chain stretch.

    • @addvurtbikes
      @addvurtbikes ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fran fiocchi I guess, I don’t know how much a chain stretches really
