      @@toddpillow3074 One of my pet predictions is that A.I. will replace executives before it replaces a lot of middle level employees. Decisions like "We should invest in a Model 2 before trying to build humanoid robots when other companies have a 20-year head start." is the type of management decision an A.I. with no ego would make. It would be a lot better for customers and shareholders.

    Imagine either owning or renting a robot for the home that would straighten up, dust, vacuum, clean the bathrooms and the kitchen, and do it every single day while you are out of the house. It could wash and put away the dishes. Maybe cook your meals. Do your laundry. Think about how that could help the elderly to stay in the family home they can no longer keep up but want to stay in. Think about how much family or roommate drama that would eliminate. Price competition and manufacturing advances could drive the price of such a robot to down around $10K or less. Or it could be rented or perhaps done on a visiting basis once or twice a week. It seems like there might be a market for such a device...

    It is hard to teach vehicles how to navigate and travel on the roads and highways, but that task is minute when compared to teaching Optimus to navigate and travel in the human environment. The robots will need to learn their way through small defined areas like factories until their sensors and ability to identify and understand the outside world has vastly improved. For the robots to workout without bringing about global poverty is likely going to be quite tough unless the robots are working for the displaced workforce and earning them wages. Realistically if AI starts replacing White Collar workers and Robots replace Blue Collar workers then nobody will be able to earn wages and continue to be consumers except for those making money off AI and Robots so basically just business owners and investors. Without a large base of consumers then whats the point of having AI and Robots producing products that there are no longer any consumers for.
    Yes it all seems wondrous at first however how do they make this work out to support a human population on the earth without tossing out the entire financial model we are currently operating under. Do earnings, banking, loans, investments, budgets, etc become superfluous with everyone getting their ration of food, clothing, housing, medical care, water, electricity, etc, etc provided by AI and Robots?
    Yes this will seem profitable at first but then as we reach the saturation point where Robots have taken over the workforce what then?
    How long after that before AI decides the most efficient course will be to have the Robots Phase Out Humans?
    Best!

People somewhere will aways be desperate and work under poor conditions for very little. Besides, if bots did replace human workers then there would be fewer humans with the money to consume products built by bots.

      This is what they are doing at SpaceX: e.g. reusing their life leader boosters to bring Starlink satellites into orbit. Once customers see they are reliable, they're more willing to send up their satellites on boosters with a lot of flights under their belt. They'll do the same with Starship. First use it to bring their own satellites into orbit.
      It doesn't surprise me that they will start by using the Tesla-bots in their own factories. They can iterate much faster on improvements when everything is in-house.

    • @koenraad4618

      It is the question if optimus can indeed replace all human employees against lower costs. I doubt it.

    • @FredPlanatia
      @FredPlanatia หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@koenraad4618 yes, i'm sure initially optimus in the factory will be more like an R&D program which more likely incurs additional costs rather than savings. But they are betting on this long-term and intend to leverage their experience with neural network based self-driving. This makes sense as robots also have to navigate and interpret the environment in order to function in different settings. Whether they find any practical use for humanoid robots in the next years is an open question. Clearly so far current industrial robots with specialized tasks are a much easier fit for factory work.

  • @Robcomments

    Less human jobs will have a direct effect on people not having the income to buy the products these robots make. Also self driving cars will see millions out of a job.
