    Yes there are just too many shops that will take advantage of customers that don't know their car. Where I live there used to be a joke about Firestone service centers because they would always try to scare elderly drivers into a full exhaust replacement because "there was a leak and their grandchildren could die". So good of you to point it out and it is so good of you to provide an honest opinion to this new driver. Props to your ethical behavior you are awesome.

      I witnessed a private mechanic telling my neighbor his car needed an engine rebuild because it had a rod knock. I didn't hear any rod knock, told him so after the mechanic left, he didn't trust me, paid to put another engine in... Later found out it was a small, inexpensive distributor problem.

    Petr - our 2008 Camry Hybrid made it to 240,000+ miles before we replaced it. Very few repairs were needed. Both front wheel bearings were replaced at about 150K. 12v battery lasted 11 years before needing to be replaced! I put new pads in the back brakes at about 200K. Front pads still in great shape. Regen braking is a beautiful thing. Oil changes every 5K and tires every 50-60K. Doubt I will ever have such a great car ever again. This girl was robbed for all the brake work on that car - likely wasn’t necessary!

    I am an old 1970’s mechanic and when we went from packed to lifetime bearings and we said it would happen from not greasing the bearings,i had a bad bearing in the back of my 1977 Nova and i heard it thru the chassis in the passenger door. Also he might not clean the engine when he is done with the oil change

    The Highlander 2002 i drive when temperature drops to 0 Celsius I hear an high pitch whistle. It might be exactly what you said about the bearing. By the way if the racers are not pitted some grease might help. Is it possible to grease the bearings?

  • @MarkMalooly
    @MarkMalooly ปีที่แล้ว

    At 172,000 miles, is it too late to change the transmission fluid? Meaning you’re better off with the old fluid than putting in new fluid, if it’s never been changed.

  • @Esteban_Herrera

    Yes I just enjoyed you mumbling about stuff about other shops and telling of stories. It's true. 😁 That car looked clean underneath for your area for some reason. The headlights need replacement. They are not too much. You have enough level shop floor to aim them there. I would find out where that leak is coming from and fix it. No one likes a dripper. LoL You said brand new calipers, are they that or they rebuilt? From experience, rebuilders strip the protective coating off and don't apply anything but maybe oil. They look great but get all rusty after a rain or two.

    I had replaced the front pads on a work van a week before it went in for new tires. And the tire guy told the boss that the brakes were shot. I’m still mad about it because the boss believed him and not me.

    Car tire places do that to both male and female driver. This is why I do my own tires from Walmart. I buy tires online from Walmart. Pick up the tires from the store. Then show up to Walmart without an appointment only if I come with the rims. Basically i avoid the appointment aspect by not requesting my car on a lift avoiding mounting and taking up a bay. They ONLY mount the tires to my rims, then i go home and mount the wheels myself. I only do 2 tires at a time and equally avoid over tightening of the lug nuts by the mechanic and hand tighten myself 😂
    This is how I save BIG BUCKS ON MY TIRES, BALANCE AND MOUNTING

    It stinks that so many mechanics are shady, including at the dealer, that wants to drop my engine to fix timing chain cover oil "seepage" on 2012 ES350 with 2GRFE, cost of $2500, the oil isn't even dripping on the ground overnight, engine oil level does not drop between changes. Anyway, if I lived near you I'd bring my Lexus to you for service Petr.
