Thanks for the analysis. I too am concerned about whether the themeing will land, or if feels too much like a cube pusher. _Planned_ shipping is december 2025, you flicked past it at 20:17 in your video.
I backed this basically purely for the miniatures since as a warhammer player I enjoy painting those. If the game attached to these minis happens to be good win-win for me I guess. 😂
This is just a note since many seemed to pass on the game when they heard "real-time." Before You Play (BYP) has a nice TH-cam tutorial and playthrough of Cyperpunk 2077, which demonstrates real-time play. I very rarely go for real-time games, but the implementation shown in the video looked clean and straightforward, which intrigued me and is one of the reasons I'm considering backing the campaign. Unless one is absolutely against real-time, the BYP video might be worth watching. [I would include the BYP link, but every time I do, even to another TH-cam video, TH-cam deletes my comment and won't let me re-comment.]
Real time here has been implemented in a very clever way because you can go all in with no preps or you can take your time before the timed part and strategize, optimize … Brillant!👍
@@RawrBargle I hate real time but in this case it seems clever. You have "staging" moments where you plan your real time section, then the real time section is played with just 1 card, so it's really quick. It's used to drive home the "action packed" feel of Cyberpunk.
I backed it for a few reasons: First and most importantly, the gameplay looks super fun (multiple mission playthroughs on go on boards official channel) - I was nervous about the real time aspect, but it looks great, ability to play different characters for different missions, and the card based action mechanic that lets you play more off the cards as you grow. Second, the IP - loved Cyberpunk 2077 and it looks like they've done a great job recreating alternate timeline stories and sidequests in the Cyberpunk universe, even including community inspired missions and sidequests from comments. Third, the amount of content - Holy crap there's a ton now with 64 stretch goals unlocked, multiple expansions, and hints of more to come in the final two days (for example if you go for the biggest all in pledge you're getting 150 miniatures). For those reasons, I'm super happy with backing the game and even going for the highest tier. BUT - in the spirit of the video, I'd have to say the biggest con is the price: the super fancy all in pledge is $399usd ...plus shipping. That's a massive dent in the wallet, that being said I genuinely think you're getting that level of value out of the pledge - I'll be smiling as I eat nothing but ramen for the next month. Check out the campaign and watch the game play videos.

Wouldn't there be much more meat in the Elder Scrolls for much less money? Recently there was the Ascension: Legendary project with a tier with all the expansions. But I don't think Ascension have all that much variety so using that for comparison may be a bad idea. And Android: Netrunner have gone missing. But back in normal time wouldn't $500 onto Android: Netrunner have given a lot more meat as well? How much variety will this offer for that money? Some different symbols, different shaped plastic, but ... ? Of course Netrunner is cards but I imagine one can play that a lot with different strategies for that money (back when available ..), and Elder Scrolls may just have plastic discs with pictures instead, haven't really looked into it but it may have offered much more depth than this. Of course there's advantages to more simplistic games and actual game play over minutes rather than hours and then in linked sessions over lots of time. (Queen Games Escape?) Castles of Burgundy and Puerto Rico may cost similar amounts and those may have less theme and story telling to them. Fleshed out productions, so more comparable? Nemesis and that dice game I haven't looked at. Or Grim... It seem so simplistic. I haven't played X-Com. Haven't played the new Dune games but given the ratings I'd imagine those offer good game content for the price? There's many places to spend money on, and here maybe it's mostly for the minis and brand and for CoB and PR the legacy / longevity (but are they worth it vs Terra Mystic or whatever newer game?)
I had backed but cancelled my pledge this morning. I decided the core real time mechanic wasnt working for me, nor characters able to do things they dont such as using hacks. I feel the core loop just isnt deep enough to sustain a campaign. Peehaps it should have solely focused on the Afterlife and running jobs for fixers with charctera more true to the game amd have very clear roles to play instead of eveyone being a jack of all trades with 1 unique ability.
Me personally I wanna get it for the miniatures in the first place, with team play, theming, all the little doo-dads to loot and upgrade urself with and the hopefully sufficiently asymmetrical characters all secondary reasons. For the amount of custom miniatures if u compare to like actual mini companies like games workshop it's a steal and even on a 3d printer u'd likely come out to abt half the price if u could just buy the schematics but u can't and I don't even have one so at that point the shipping & paying someone with one would cover the cost for the minis alone & like the game is a bonus. That being said I aim to try and paint them, which obv isn't for everyone (I'm decent at that, but ik not everyone would be or even wants to be). So yeah, them's my reasons ^^
Even though I love the Cyberpunk 2077 IP, and I was happy with how Witcher The Old World turned out, I'm giving this one a pass specifically because of the real-time element. It's not something that would mesh well with my gaming group, where there's lots of chatting, questions, and cats doing cat things while playing.
Yeah real time is an instant no go from me. It just immediately means extra stress, anxiety, and ussually a simplified experience that isn't something I generally go for... and certainly not for this amount of money.
Just keep in mind that the timer is only uised during rounds and lasts about 2 minutes, then you get to a cooldown phase and can take all the time you need to talk about lunch, the wheather, politics and hey, we still need to unlock our loot and ok, let's go again for round 2! And there is a pauze button to stop the timer in case you spill a drink or something. So yes, timer is there, but it's not like you play the entire game on a timer and then when you're finished with the game, you can talk to eachother again.
Honestly, the real-time aspect is a selling point for me. 99% of boardgames arent realtime, this is a nice change of pace. If i hate it, it's a very easy change to house rule a set number of turns instead of using the timer. At the end of the day, it's a great IP that will be easy to move on the secondary market if it's not for me.
Dude we all have games we never play or promise when we are 80. I have Vamp Chapters on shelf in the delivery box unopened still... Its a disease that you need to have games that you have played on something when you were a kid.
As far as I can tell the argument about second hand market ans price point never holds up to europe. Witcher old world deluxe core box 175€ and the standard version cheapest I found so far was 66€. Then you must hope for availability. No real reasons for not to back. But the other ones are things you should take into account.
With the real time mechanics. Once you own the game, you do whatever you want with it. Experiment with its rules if you want to. I'm thinking optionally I can remove the timer element and just put a count of action cards me and all players should do before the cooldown. See if the boardgame still translates well with it. The smaller the number of cards, the higher the difficulty
But they have stated time and time again that you cant remove the timer or the gameplay just wont work. You can do as many actions as you want. It doesnt work.
@user-rm9qi9lz4u play once or twice with a timer, see the average number of actions you do per turn, and then use that in the future :) At the end, it's your game not theirs. You own it, do whatever the heck you want. But you need to test it and see what works for you. Maybe the real timer thing would be okay for you. I saw someone that was playing it on youtube and he was pausing every time he explains something. Try to pause often when you need a break or you feel you want a cut between actions. At the end, especially if you are playing solo, figure your game and gradually you will know if it works or not :) I don't mind so much the real time gaming as there are breaks/cool downs but I will get to see when I get the game
A real-time Cyberpunk game? *Scratches head* Pretty sure I already have that on my steam account. No boards, tiny cubes, counters, or cards. The computer takes care of all of that. The game plus expansion is $90. Before the board game delivers it will be on sale at probably 50% off at least twice. By May 2025, the discount might be higher. Got plenty of games in the cupboard.
If you want to play with friends, there's also the fact that Cyberpunk began as a tabletop RPG. Cyberpunk RED or Cyberpunk 2020 are both very affordable and what started off the entire IP even before the video game.
I had an internal struggle about this game, I adore Cyberpunk but the gameplay on this just looks like absolute ass, but I wanted the game so bad just as a collectors item... this video helped me realize I dont need it
@@RawrBargle I also wanted it just because of the IP, but even the expansions are a huge letdown. Lucy has a weird rope that looks nothing like a monowire, Rebecca's face looks nothing like her and none of the expansions include any interesting places in Night City because everything is just corpo offices and even the Trauma Team tiles are just more boring offices.
Dude we don't know if it's good or bad, but overpriced? The deluxe pledge has enough miniatures to make some $300 games blush, and it's $139. It's one of the best priced games of its kind. Sadly also one of the most incomplete funding runs I've ever seen for a reputable product. I backed, decided to roll the dice - at worst the minis will be GREAT for tabletop RPG.
@@dvoid665 the Edgerunner expansion is meh but who cares, it's Edgerunners. They are apparently fixing edit: LUCY not Judy, brain fart, and Rebecca by the way. I bought PL's expansion because that one looks amazing There's more places in NC yeah, read the missions they take place in various parts on NC
The whole real-time mechanic is why I'm on the fence, as I have little experience with that sort of mechanic in that sort of game. On one hand, I'm a quick thinker and would probably thrive in it, but on the other hand, I kinda like having set rules for how much I can do, and optimize within those limits.
With the number of pieces I've been seeing in pictures, I'm surprised this is a real time game. Most real time games keep you only doing 1-2 repetitive tasks (Magic Maze gives you one direction, Escape gives you a fist of dice, Space Cadets gives you one role) but I'm seeing so many pieces that my brain doesn't feel like it wants to figure out how to do this in real time.
I dislike realtime stress, but also feel like a base game without real figures is a nogo for that price. If the base game would be 60€/$ and have hard cardboard and real figures of the delux version, then ok. Coming from using gf9 Alien another day in the corps as my first/main boardgame (including 1-2 expansions optional).
I almost bought it just for the miniatures to paint up and use to play Cyberpunk Red with. But it ends up quite pricey given I lost my job recently. The FOMO is strong so it sucks.
Video Gamer here, one of my favorite game is CP2077. I put around 800 hours to the game and expansion. This Board game is a mess, chaotic, the characters out of the role (expansion), not well thought, unfinished, overpriced, lot of psychological tricks to grab your money... You mentioning quickhacks on point 3. Quickhacks will use rams. Only couple of characters are RAM focused. V: maybe, Judy: YES, Panam: no, Jackie: no. So if you think this is the "heart" of the game you will be shocked that this is about 5% (maybe) of the gameplay.
I really love the video game and would of liked to back this game but my main reason for avoiding it is just the lack of information on the actual game. All that there is available right now is three demo maps and no rule book. It has me worried that with all the expansions and such I'll throw down 300+ dollars on a game and the completed version will just be flawed or a real let down.
Witcher Old World was just sorta mid. The game itself shifted its design from the original pitch and pared things way back for the "core" game, while relegating the additional features to KS-exclusive add ons. This was especially questionable with splitting out the "Monster Trail" expansion, which absolutely should have been included in the base game since it's basically the "full core" game that you'll want to play after a few introductory sessions with the "lite" version that you get with the base game. If Goonboard is still using this model for this game, I'd personally avoid the campaign. They're likely to change things up in the design quite a bit after the campaign ends, and the add-on/expansion structure will be questionable. Caveat emptor.
Hey Chris! I’m back to drown you in compliments and point out the things you did wrong again! (Kidding, you’re ace). I think your last point should actually be something you weave into your narration, or should come up more often, I.e., “name 3 unique mechanics that excite you,” and I really felt that 2077 absolutely missed in that regard. The real time was a full turn off for me, and then adding a bunch of characters later on just confused me. I like the premise! Alternate timeline! Makes sense given the concept, but then it all just felt like they grabbed everything 2077 adjacent and threw it in as a stretch goal. Spoiler alert: It only counts as FOMO if they put together a compelling argument for purchase, and I felt in this campaign, as much as Shadowrun is my favorite setting, for the hundreds of hours I’ve played 2077 and The Ascent and games in the genre, I should have been nearly automatic as a customer. Hard no. I do think as a note, you would benefit from tightening up your reasons a bit, building a clearer outline before you film. The last couple felt haphazard in comparison to your original videos.
This is one I was really excited for but I'm primarily a solo player so I'm now of the inclination not to bother, as from everything I've seen it looks as though this is really for 3 - 5 players, not 1 - 2.
@@amrthabet4455 - I'm aware that the game is supposedly suitable for 1 - 4 but I've not seen anyone discussing or reviewing the game as a single player game. Do you have hands on with the game? Can you provide a link to someone who has done a review from a solo perspective?
@FreeFragUK I did see 2 videos recently of the game in solo mode. One with one playable character and one playing with 2 characters. Go on board released a video for the solo gameplay. Please check them. If you search in youtube Cyperpunk 2077 the board game solo You will find multiple answers. It's actually fun
Hey, Chris, great video as always! At the moment, I’m passing on this one too. I don’t have many real-time games in my collection, especially in this genre. The closest I have is Werewords, which uses a timer, but since it’s more of a social game, the vibe feels completely different. So, I don’t have much to compare this to based on my past experiences. I guess I have 6:Siege, but I haven’t gotten it to the table yet and the timer is optional. I do think this looks cool, but I worry that the real-time element might show its gimmicky face after a few plays. Also, I’ve been hesitant about campaign games lately. With so many games out there to explore, plus others in my backlog (and *Earth Under Siege* on the way-super excited for that!), it’s tough to commit a lot of time to just one game when free time is limited. I’m still undecided but will probably pass-not because of the price or the gameplay, which seems fun, but because I don’t think I’d play it often enough to justify getting it. We’ll see! Also, Chris, ngl, I came here totally expecting your “5 reasons hand” 🖐️ on the thumbnail to be a cyborg hand.
I am backing right now, but I am torn. I have heard if you like Project Elite you will like this. I really like Project Elite and Escape (only real time games I have kept), but even though I love them, after 1 game of either I have had enough stress, so there are no back to back plays. I am considering this game because after watching a few playthroughs it seems more mellow and less frantic than Project Elite (my #1). Instead of that dear in the headlights "WHAT DO I DO" after rolling dice everytime or having to deal with wanting to do something but can't because of the dice. With the way the card system works it feels like it will mitigate most of the dice randomness. Using a small personal deck, only really playing 1 card at a time, and the low hand limit enables you to get to know your deck and makes things feel more strategic if that's possible! Sure there are some dice, but it seems like learning your deck is much more important so its easier to plan and have a good turn. I just find that this alone changes the pace for my brain, even if it is technically just as frantic. Sure there are other options you can use, but the way they did the cards and the ease of play with them due to color coding feels good. That said, if I get this game it will be in hopes that I like it better than Project Elite for the reasons above and would lead to me selling that KSer off. I think the theme (pasted on as it is) is great looking, but I have no attachment and have never played the video game. Oh, I also love the taking turns instead of everyone going at once because it gives a slight break to people and allows us to watch whats going on and help rather being bothered by having to do other stuff while trying to get your turn done at the same time. The game is expensive though and I already have a great real time game, but if this could be slightly less frantic and feel better because it mostly uses cards, I think it would be worth it. Now to decide...so hard.
They said the app is optional, not the timer. They've said the timer is integral to the game and they won't be providing an alternative. They also said that there won't be a TTS mod because the real-time aspect is integral to the game.
YOU do not have say on what other people value. YOU don't see value in this, that doesn't mean sh*t. I don't really care about it, I prefer the TTRPG cause i'm a TTRPG gamer but I won't disregard what others feel about the product. If they want Cube Pusher with a cyberpunk skin... who are you to say they can't have it?
I thought the game looked cool and heard it was a "real time" game and had no idea what that meant. So instead of looking it up, i just passed on the game 😅
Ok, 18:50 image in the back of the 4 skill shard markers. Me not knowing anything about what these do...why is "cool" red color and "body" blue color? "Cool" or cold, if thats what it means should always be blue. Red mean hot or health which could also more relate to body. Especially since its a real time game, this stand out to me as something that will be confusing in the beginning if this part is a real-time part of the game. Anyway, carry on and ignore me.
Thanks god, I'm still thinking want to back or not after watch a lot of review from other bg channel. would like to hear your thoughts about game also right now really hype wait for your video too, to make my final decision haha
They’ve detailed it a little, on a BGG at least… but I think most will either two hand characters, or there will be some house ruling provisions to the official solo play.
in the latest update post they gave a link to a full solo gameplay with everything explained but you can't find it directly on TH-cam you need the link so yeah not easy to get all the informations but they're here ^^
I think you missed mentioning the wtcher path of destiny. The goonboard campagin on gamefound they are still working on. I have no worries about it fulfilling at all but that was a big campaign after old world. So thats two multi million campaigns on the go
I do have it backed at deluxe with expansion. However, I have never played the video game, nor do I know much about the IP other than seeing it here or there. My group loves co-op games and I am just on a Cyberpunk genre kick at the moment. But, I would like to hear your thoughts about gamers bullying publishers into meeting their personal preferences, or spam campaigns on forums where gamers demand certain things for a certain price. Let me say that I do not think you are that type of person at all. Love your content. I just feel that there has been a growing number of gamers just demanding entitlement and smearing publishers just because a game doesn't have "this" or "that."
@@MonsterMotorsportsDiecast I hope you end up loving it :) I think with rising costs it's very easy to say "oh this is how the market was 5 years ago, give me that now you greedy publisher!" which on the internet you're going to get a lot more people who are vocal about it and complaining about it. As someone who could fall into those tendencies I try to just remember to frame my purchasing from my only value standpoint and make sure that I'm excited enough for the price to be worth it. I always want a deal, and have gotten most of my games on the second hand market, and so that definitely skews the way I think about price, but I think it is a luxury hobby at the end of the day and if we want cool stuff, we'll have to pay for it. It's just about making sure that you are happy with your purchase, whatever the price may be. I understand people voicing their hopes, but haven't seen much of the spam campaigns you talk about, but at the end of the day people should be paid for their work if a consumer hopes that work will continue, and making a company go bankrupt is certainly not the most sustainable way to do that haha
@RoomandBoardReviews I agree with your insight. We all want a bargain, but I'm also a realist when it comes to spending. For example, I am willing to pay for blinged out components, or I'm willing to pay for convenience. I think where some folks get led astray is where they are not willing to pay for those things, which is completely fine. Don't like it; don't buy it. On a separate, but related topic. I do own the soldier pledge from Zombicide: Invader, which is a campain-based co-op already. I may just cancel my pledge for CP 2077 and buy the Ultimate Edition on Xbox and enjoy it now. Plus, I backed Witcher: Path of Destiny on Gamefound already. I think I'll stick to my rule of not backing the next campaign of a publisher if my rewards haven't fulfilled from a previous campaign. My wallet likes that path better. 😅
@RoomandBoardReviews so update... I ended up canceling my Gamefound pledge because I acquired Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of New York in a local math trade. And the expansion is readily available on Amazon. Plus, GoOn Board already has my money for The Witcher: Path of Destiny, so I'll hold on backer additional campaigns from them until I receive those rewards.
@@datderpderping501 `cant you just get the stl file then lol` bro do you think that us 3d printer get stl of official licensed board game worth millions by kindly asking the editor ??? You have to find the mini, scan'em clean'em and thats a whole other hobby itself, and a very expensive one, no one is going to bother for this game.
For me personally IP games never live up to my expectations. This is a pass for me just because of that. I've been really excited about IP games in the past and I get them we play them and after two or three plays the game group is meh! Everyone would rather play the video game instead of the board game.
Overall, I like a lot of what I see in this game, and this review helped , so thank you! For me, the cyberpunk theme here is mostly art, terminology, and a little bit of remotely opening doors and helping other players move. However, beyond that, I don't see much cyber in Cyberpunk 2077 since there is so much missing from the cyberpunk theme, such as elements found in William Gibson's novels, Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, Tad Williams' Otherland series, and R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk RPG. I really want more "cyber." However, I like what I see in production (although I may replace the enemy stands with metal (heavier) D6 bullet dice as the stands seem too fiddly). And, while I am, at best, indifferent to real-time games, I find the implementation in Cyberpunk 2077 intriguing. So, I am thinking about pledging. It depends a lot on whether there is more cyber than I've noticed in reviews and playthroughs or whether I can figure out some house rules that may take into account such things as having a character work against obstacles in the matrix (black ICE, virtual guardians, etc.) in time to help other players accomplish mission objectives or gain advantages. Cyber enhancements/chrome between missions might also be nice to consider. Or maybe I'll pledge just because it seems like a nice game ... but more cyber would really help.
Love the Deus Ex games! I initially considered the retail version (I got that version for The Witcher), but it actually seems like the miniature version (especially with the health counters for miniatures) is beneficial for a real time game. Project Elite is a favorite of my game group, and I’m a big fan of the cyberpunk theme, so this game is a no-brainer for me.
Now: My 5 reasons NOT TO BACK 2077: 5. There is no real explanation of what a campaign comprises, the time commitment, or any of the NPC interactions that really make 2077 as a video game great. I was looking for Hunter 2114/1492 levels of immersion, with story cards and chains, and none of that is on display here. 4. Plastic crack is great. Now. Go count your unpainted minis. Remember to leave your machine plugged in while you do so, because that’s a lot of boxes. 3. Disjointed and lack of cohesion. Jackie dies early, Alt is from 2027, Johnny isn’t around at alll…? Because you never get the chip? The Edgerunners from 2076 are a great idea, but Cyberpunk’s one “positive” is the idea that you are rebuilding yourself, and asking “when are you satisfied, and when are you pushing yourself to meet someone else’s standard?” It’s an incredibly complex question, and I think the game misses the deeper philosophical point of the setting. 1. My number one reason is that I wanted “Night City in a Box.” A new way to engage with the content, to see stories that were left on the cutting room floor, run jobs that go from location to location, as it builds toward a larger narrative while you traverse The City of Dreams. This comes off as a shooter that shopped at a Hot Topic, instead of a complex question on how we evolve. Is that asking too much “from a board game?” No. That’s what this IP epitomizes. And not touching that means this really lost me. Thanks for reading! Have a great week!
It's nice to see Five Reasons again. 👊 You've convinced me so little, I really don't want to, but I'm tempted to buy into some overhyped campaign.🤔 Make another five reasons, this time more decisive, and include that there is no non-Delux version, because playing a timed game using tokens is a joke.👈
This video took a really long time to make a few mediocre points. I'm sorry that cyberpunk hurt you. Your analysis of these features, which you clearly don't understand, compared to my understanding of the campaign thus far only made me more excited to back it.
@RoomandBoardReviews same. Of course there's a chance it will suck, and I'm not oblivious to that. I do wish you knew a bit more about the game before publishing this video, though. There were a few things you pointed out as problems that solutions have already been presented for. It would take me a long time to go back through your video and point these out, but not near as much time as I've spent following the project's updates. I understand you can't spend all of your time researching when making content is your bread & butter, but it does feel like you're intentionally trying to downplay the game without realizing it totally has some of the features you're saying it lacks. I hope you get to play it, too, and give a more honest & comprehensive review to follow up this very subjective rant with.
@@galaxophone oh no, I was more liking my response to something I felt was overly antagonistic, which I deal with a lot on the internet. Your next reply felt more like a human which is why I feel okay to respond again haha. When Go on board doesn't provide a rulebook when they have given such to their previewers we can only interpret so much about the game, as that is my preferred method of learning.
@RoomandBoardReviews interesting. Do you not feel like your video was overly antagonistic? Maybe even a little antagonistic? My comment felt mild in kind, at least in my eyes. I'm not here to defend a company I don't work for or anything, but yeah, you mentioned the game lacking several things that it totally has, you made fun of their name, and you said you want their funding to fall to 0. It's like you want backers to feel stupid, but you clearly don't understand parts of the game that you're trying to talk about. Apologies for being rude, I just had trouble passing by all of that without saying something.
A bit too much salt about already fixed issues on a bad inferior gaming system. Maybe your opinion would be better if your perspective on the current game state would be up to date?
@@DerFreiegedanke you're right, I really should put out a new video on the subject every hour, that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the tip! Unless you're talking about the joke about the rendering issues, which it seems like you are. In which case maybe your opinion would be better if you actually understood what the video was talking about.
@@RoomandBoardReviews Relax, buddy! - What I meant was that it seems you are not up to date on the current state of the video game. Because the issues were at release. Currently, the game is really polished, fun and successful, which is why an absurd amount of people are willing to pump money into the board game. The release on on the older console generation was a big mistake anyways. So if you're talking about a topic like Cyberpunk 2077, either inform yourself beforehand with up-to-date information or don’t make comments that might be misunderstood. This was meant as constructive critique. I'm sorry if it came across as offensive - maybe i wanted it to be - maybe i'm the one who was salty all along?
Nono, he got a point, it is always important to keep cool and not pledge hundreds for a game you might be buying for the wrong reasons and you will end up selling on ebay in a year and a half, unopened

(Queen Games Escape?)
Castles of Burgundy and Puerto Rico may cost similar amounts and those may have less theme and story telling to them.
I’m fine backing it because it’s really the only IP I actually enjoy. I can’t wait to see what Maximum Mike thinks of this.
You can play it without timer and make your own rules. Its no big deal lol, they will even support that after campaing in one way.
I just see all the pieces and think "I need to fiddle with all this in real time?!"
@@bigwi7613 definitely. The eyes are always bigger than the stomach when it comes to games and actually having the time to play them!
As far as I can tell the argument about second hand market ans price point never holds up to europe. Witcher old world deluxe core box 175€ and the standard version cheapest I found so far was 66€. Then you must hope for availability. No real reasons for not to back. But the other ones are things you should take into account.
For me the 3 mechanic is the gear that changes you(cyberware and weapons)
, the time
, co-op
, the health and ram mechanics
With the real time mechanics. Once you own the game, you do whatever you want with it. Experiment with its rules if you want to.
I'm thinking optionally I can remove the timer element and just put a count of action cards me and all players should do before the cooldown. See if the boardgame still translates well with it.
The smaller the number of cards, the higher the difficulty
But they have stated time and time again that you cant remove the timer or the gameplay just wont work. You can do as many actions as you want. It doesnt work.
@user-rm9qi9lz4u play once or twice with a timer, see the average number of actions you do per turn, and then use that in the future :)
At the end, it's your game not theirs. You own it, do whatever the heck you want. But you need to test it and see what works for you. Maybe the real timer thing would be okay for you.
I saw someone that was playing it on youtube and he was pausing every time he explains something. Try to pause often when you need a break or you feel you want a cut between actions. At the end, especially if you are playing solo, figure your game and gradually you will know if it works or not :)
I don't mind so much the real time gaming as there are breaks/cool downs but I will get to see when I get the game
@@amrthabet4455 Why would I spend $200 on a game that I have to modify the rules? No.
@user-rm9qi9lz4u I understand :) Everyone has a different case so I can totally understand your situation :)
But you can't play it with your friends
If you want to play with friends, there's also the fact that Cyberpunk began as a tabletop RPG. Cyberpunk RED or Cyberpunk 2020 are both very affordable and what started off the entire IP even before the video game.
I feel like most people are begrudgingly backing this overpriced cashgrab because of the IP.
@RawrBargle this me.. ion even like board games I just want the mini figurines 😂
I bought PL's expansion because that one looks amazing
There's more places in NC yeah, read the missions they take place in various parts on NC
I´ll be honest i would buy it just for the miniatures but i luckily have a resin printer.
Most real time games keep you only doing 1-2 repetitive tasks (Magic Maze gives you one direction, Escape gives you a fist of dice, Space Cadets gives you one role) but I'm seeing so many pieces that my brain doesn't feel like it wants to figure out how to do this in real time.
the only reason you should back it is for the minis. The minis are perfect for cyberpunk red
I am tempted by the minis
I dislike realtime stress, but also feel like a base game without real figures is a nogo for that price.
If the base game would be 60€/$ and have hard cardboard and real figures of the delux version, then ok.
Coming from using gf9 Alien another day in the corps as my first/main boardgame (including 1-2 expansions optional).
I almost bought it just for the miniatures to paint up and use to play Cyberpunk Red with. But it ends up quite pricey given I lost my job recently. The FOMO is strong so it sucks.
They ain’t uploading that solo playthrough brah.
They did today. About to watch it.
lol, the very next day.

I love your banter, one of the only channels that makes me laugh every time
I am all in. Thank you very much
@@alisardius1577 hope you love it :)
It does hace a solo player mode and a good one. Also 2 players

I throw money at warhammer all the the time for miniatures so damn right I’ll be doing it again for cyberpunk 😂

Now to decide...so hard.
dont you ever back anything like never ever,, and remember if its exclusive its not essential :) saves you alot of money, youre welcome :)
Was tempted to get this as I really liked the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, but I think this table top games too generic to really be worth it.
They said that the timer is optional , you need to read the comments to see this
They said the app is optional, not the timer. They've said the timer is integral to the game and they won't be providing an alternative. They also said that there won't be a TTS mod because the real-time aspect is integral to the game.

They’ve detailed it a little, on a BGG at least… but I think most will either two hand characters, or there will be some house ruling provisions to the official solo play.

@@MonsterMotorsportsDiecast I hope you end up loving it :)
I think with rising costs it's very easy to say "oh this is how the market was 5 years ago, give me that now you greedy publisher!" which on the internet you're going to get a lot more people who are vocal about it and complaining about it.

Everyone would rather play the video game instead of the board game.
Bloodborne board game is pretty good
The Witcher: Old World is a great IP game, but the game itself is great too.
I am fully backing the game.
Interesting. On the edge of backing or not here, too. So let's take a look. Probably your video helps.
I really want more "cyber."
However, I like what I see in production (although I may replace the enemy stands with metal (heavier) D6 bullet dice as the stands seem too fiddly).
Well I hope you can help me and my wallet :)

6th Reason: Goon board makes trash games that are just cashgrabs
The witcher was very good with a lot of interesting mechanics
I pass on this one, not intrested at all...

@RoomandBoardReviews same. Of course there's a chance it will suck, and I'm not oblivious to that. I do wish you knew a bit more about the game before publishing this video, though.
(Also I realize liking your own comment is good for your analytics, but it's a bit weird to skeptical viewers)
No thanks, its just too much content and looks like a convoluted mess.
must be nice, to be able to gatekeep your niche hobby
@@tahnadana5435 must be nice to not have the attention span to make it 30 seconds into the video!
Actually no, I take it back, that sounds horrible, how could you focus on anything. What a sad reactionary life that would be.
You talk way too much. 1 reason you SHOULDN'T listen to this "review"
@@nrutal Thanks! Great point!
Nono, he got a point, it is always important to keep cool and not pledge hundreds for a game you might be buying for the wrong reasons and you will end up selling on ebay in a year and a half, unopened
