Semi casual is going to be doing the 18spd trans in it, at that point a new clutch will go in. And I’d sure think they’d put a new rear main in as well
That's a hard no on the floaters on the front. Also getting rid of the stripper pole for the hoses and doing a flush mound with qd lines really cleans up the look on the catwalk!

If you ever need to do brake on a truck again and need to replace the pins and bushings I highly recommend the lisle 29090 air removal tool. Makes it a breeze.
Could be rear main seal or 3406 oil galley in back of block end in bell housing sometimes leak if your doing transmission and clutch always good time to check that
just a heads up on those rollers been a heavy mechanic for 26 years instead of never-seez which is an abrasive synthetic caliper grease from a regular auto parts store works the best
Those floatation tires are either for offroad dump trucks or heavy haul guys. Ad. A lift axle to the back and it may not look so goofy. 24.5 alcoas polished with 285/70R24.5 tires. Lower profile tires than an 11R.
Greg do yourself a favor change them front air Chambers and change the air lines to go from the chambers back to the regulator on the back. Change the front airlines as well. They become very brittle and start cracking. Keep up the good work.
The fenders you put on are 1/4 fenders. The ones you said you would like to put on that cover the tires on front rear axle is called a 1/2 fender and the fenders that cover both rear axle are full fenders. And those thick front tires dont look right and would probably wear things out faster because that axle isnt rated for that heavy tire!!
Funny story about those boxes... no lie I can relate. I used to work at this indie shop that had woods bordering the back parking lot. Well one day I was hearing this loud tapping metallic noise... I look out back and there is a group of about 6 or so turkeys, and they were pecking they're beaks/ heads off the side of a customers black accord!! They were seeing their reflection just like in your steps and were going ape shit on this guys car. They actually did quite a bit of damage to it. It looked like stone chips and it was all around the rocker areas. Dumbass birds. If I had a rifle I probably would've tried to start Thanksgiving early. The progress on this Pete is awesome. Gonna be killer when the 18 speed is in there and your rowing the gears!!! 💪😎👍
I can’t wait till greg goes to Fitzgerald and sees all the painted deck plates and fender set ups and color matched tanks in person his mind will change very quick 😂
Chrome/polished-aluminum is almost always preferable to the cheap painted stuff, only fleet-trucks and lazy idiots pick paint over Chrome/polished-aluminum, I got a new King-Ranch dully with painted bumpers, within a month of bringing it home, I had two new chrome-bumpers to put on it, and now it looks so much better, I wonder if I could sell the painted-bumpers on eBay to some useful-idiot, they are already in the crates the chrome-bumpers came in, ready to be shipped out today, lol
Just my thought, I would keep the chrome look with the black. That's just my opinion. Would love to have the PJ trailer but no room for it with my other one. I got two trailers stacked in my driveway.
Greg_alberalla put the big spring on first then the 2 smaller springs with a screw driver ...hook one end on break shoe and hook other end of spring with small screwdriver and put in hole push down falls in to place that way you don't have to fight the big spring pressure
There are some car haulers out there that are running a similar style front wheels with a low pro tire. Just something to consider if you like the wide look
315s look good..add hub covers kits and it looks amazing. Can send you pics of my triaxle pete with them on. Keep in mind though a good 315 is expensive
Your "Arby's" tire is actually what is called a super single that allows you to legally carry more weight on your steer axle.you can tell by the extra "beef" and the different rim.
I’m not sure but you might need dual steer boxes for the bigger tires, just bc of the weight. Not saying price will stop you but the bigger tires are about 1000 for brand new tires
Easier way to do them shoes is to hook the big spring that goes in the middle of the shoes before you put them on the truck then put the outside springs on goes so much quicker
it will steer harder and rider rougher and follow the ruts a lot more with the big tires guys big tiers are only good if your in soft dirt all the time with heavy loads.
You need to check in with the guys from Iowa Customs about full legnth deck plate plus center light panel for truck or have the guys at Fitzgerald get it for you . You also can get a cover that is made to cover the axle hubs that are chrome .
You need to keep with the skinnies for the front. I like the wide tires but just cramping the style of the truck. You need to get some full fenders for that beast or you can kiss the paint on neck section of the trailers goodbye
Wait a minute. If you jack up the front axle to grease the kingpin then it still has the weight of the front end on it, whether the tire or a jack, what's the difference?
I suppose if your hauling cow crap in tanks on the back then the road floaters would be perfect... fits right in with bird shit on the chrome battery covers for lack of a better word describing how garish it looks. I sure do hope that you use some expanded steel to cover the drive assembly as its just hard to always land on a rail when hoping off a trailer deck or even just crossing over from side to side. You have enough chrome on it now so don't over do it as it really makes the truck look like a city slicker thing. Kinda surprised that you didn't already wire that truck since you were behind that dash more than a sink to wash the face after a long day. I think the factory wheels and tires looks better than the bigger wheel and tire
If you came here in Australia you will understand why the off set rims are better

I wanna see them 315s on that bad boy
I think you should do full black out finders on the back. That would look really good on that truck.
If you go with the 315’s in the front then you need more beefy tires in the rear to make it look balanced that would look good
Coming from a 8 year veteran truck driver the tall stacks and the big tires on the front make it awesome
Greg use a jackstand next time if you dont dump the aor suspension when the truck loses air peterbilts are the worse but when it loses air itll role back or forward a little because the suspension changing angle as it loses air just a tip we had on come off a bottle jack once because it slowly leaked down
The lower profile tires and 24s look much better on that beast. But she also is lookin thick with the big tires
24.5s are always the answer
Missed so much on this build! Haven't seen the complete rebuild; like the interior and putting the sleeper on.
i feel like forces would look good on the peterbilt

A very popular rim and Tire here in Australia
Yeeesssss!!!!! Absolutely run the high floatation tires!! Makes a big truck look meaner because they’re typically on heavy haul trucks
just a heads up on those rollers been a heavy mechanic for 26 years instead of never-seez which is an abrasive synthetic caliper grease from a regular auto parts store works the best
I'd put frame mount tool boxes on both sides. They work as steps, too.

Flat face 22.5s/24.5s with 315s also look really good on the front. Flat face is the way to go polished and with nice tires of course
I like to set the rollers into the s-cam groove and install the center spring before installing the brakes. Not a fan of the fat tire in front

That is 100% right about greasing the kingpins but very rarely you see anybody doing it

Hi Greg, which ones are lighter for a peterbilt drum brakes or the disc brakes. Like the 315's but in a lower profile with 24.5
Greg, the truck originally had light weight brake drums on the steers. You went back with “regular” brake drums, which are thicker. Just an FYI.

You should get the mud flaps brackets that have the 4 inch holes in them for tail lights they look so good
Silent mike dropping knowledge. You can change that rear main seal when you do the trans swap.

Ethel fenders are called, 1/4 fenders which you put on. 1/2 fenders which is first you thought of and full fenders
Put the big wide ones on the front polished and new tires
I like the way the bigger tire fill out the wheel well, but the meaty look is better on log trucks..
The 315s look good but if you do the 315s you also need to do the rears also.

I just took my 425s off my truck. Didn’t like how they handled going down the highway. If your driving through sprinkler tracks they’re great though

I’m curious as to why you didn’t go with full fenders? Especially if you’re gonna haul the gooseneck with it!!

Looks like you are doing a good job but please put some type of safety device under your front axle
Hard wood flooring inside would be nice too
the fenders you put on are 1/4 fenders....1/2 fenders cover to the middle of the tandem
Give you a pro tip. Don't jack the axle up by the bottom of the axle. Jack on the ubolts. This way you don't have it slide off or kick
