I actually work at Vestergaard Company that builds these ground support equipments, and have been doing so for the last 15 years. Great fun to see this old guy. Vestergaard Company has grown a lot since this unit was produced. If you need any kind of support for the unit, or even want to visit the Vestergaard factory in Roskilde, Denmark, just let me know, and i will gladly give you a tour :)

It seems it has just over 10K km so it hasn't been driven outside of the airport. Surprised that it has no rust. I guess salt is not used on the tarmac or the runway.

    • @amdsemporn6018
      @amdsemporn6018 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +44

This far north, temperatures are regularly so low, that salt doesn’t do anything any more. So I assume, that this is the reason.

Disagree, at some point in this wagon's long life, some curious souls have tried racing the fuel truck down the runway.
For example I know the Volvo fl4 avgas lorry at Sandtoft airfield isn't as fast as their scammell s26 jet A lorry.

You should keep the pressure pump stuff from the de-icing system, so you can use it to pressure wash your house, roof, big trucks and excavators etc. Maybe even keep the tanks, so you could fill with soap/water to clean stuff in remote areas/away from running water, if that is something you'll ever need.

You need to use some ground pads under those lift cylinders to prevent flipping over in soft soils. Those pads are only designed for thick concrete surfaces.
Thin concrete surfaces will also punch through.

Awesome purchase and conversion, I’m pleased the electrics lined up so well and that was a great idea to place the switches the way you did otherwise you’d have control boxes all over the place. Mate, I just don’t know how you can survive in such cold weather, shit I think I’d have to drink antifreeze to keep my blood circulating and I’ll be darned if I know how you can drive along a road without slipping off. I guess you just get used to it. Anyway, top notch video, well done

The limit switches are there to prevent you booming out too far and risk platform becoming unstable and liable to tipping over.
It was not uncommon for drivers at the company I was at to spend time rebuilding switches that had failed rather than replacing them as we were too far from the workshop.
We also had 'emergency' procedure to join wires across the control panel to allow the legs to be stowed if the boom didnt report it was stowed properly, because of another failed switch we could not access.
I would also reccomend you fit some 'spreader boards' to the feet. We had to stow them in the truck each use because on our trucks the legs moved away from the body, ie H frame, or A frame legs.
Yours just go straight down, so you could fit larger boards to spread the weight of the feet on them for more stability in uneven or softer ground.

Great work on giving new life to these two vehicles. I think you should have removed the diesel tank when cutting the holes for the new pickup. That way you could have cleaned the inside from metal shavings. It is also good practice to coat the contacting surfaces with door vax, when attaching new stuff to the frame, this is a place where capillary forces suck water in between the metal pieces, and rust likes to form.

Suddenly I got the explanation to myself about own questions why the Geofabric used in Garage build video had a steelpipe stuck in the roll and the blue ratchet strap to lift it! Haven't seen that delivered before when buying these. Have to watch your eminent videos in order, Mattias. 😮

It'd be even more stable with a few tonnes of de-icing juice in it. :-) Definitely looks like it's never been much beyond idle it's entire life.

Good luck with her she looks nice and clean. I think you'll get a lot of space out of it and while I have you, thank you for making the videos. I enjoy them. Stay well, my friend.

I didn't know they made one truck smaller than FL6. Has a nice sound - reminds me of the VW LT's from my youth.

Nice work. You got a heck of a deal on that thing. When you were mounting the skylift to the frame of the truck, I'm surprised you didn't weld in some square tube to raise the skylift a little bit. Would have given you some additional clearance under those hydraulic feet. Would that have made it too high or something?
