It’s an old Buddy Guy song. He was one of Stevie’s big influences and good friends. Reese was an original member of The Allman Brothers Band, before being eased aside for Gregg Allman. He played at their 50th Anniversary Celebration.
A great performance by Reese, the keyboard phenom, is on the Joe Bonamassa version of Goin Down, live from The Greek. I have seen them twice live, and Reese is still spectacular today.
The tremelo-picking instrument that was heard/reacted to is one of Reese's keyboards; a vintage Hammond B3 (or related model) tube-amplified drawbar organ driven through a Leslie rotating speaker, then miked into the PA mix with everything else.
Clapton said that SRV amazed him because he was never "lost", never paused never had to think where he was going next in a song. It was like the music flowed through him
This delicious performance was my intro to SRV during the pandemic. I fell utterly in love. Been totally, helplessly, and rightfully captivated... ever since. The rewards from watching and hearing this incredible soul never stop! Stevie is the whole package 📦 💝 ❤🎶🎸! Love Tommy and Chris, who are foundational in their intuitive complement of support. And Reese, who joined Double Trouble in 1985, is, literally, the "SRV of the Keys." Masterful! BTW, Sohum... I'm thoroughly enjoying your reactions, absorbing the nuances of your observations and the depths of your appreciation for the gifted souls you are discovering. Thank you! ✨🙂🏆👏🌹🙋
This is why we call him a Goat. Stevie and Double Trouble hired Reese for Stevie's 3rd album Soul to Soul.. He was a Great add. This song Nursery rhyme was first done by the Legendary Buddy Guy 1967 Buddy inspired Stevie
Back in the 80s, I had a red strat with a white pick plate. I took a red marker and drew my initials on the pick plate just like Stevie..😂. His guitar is sooo bad ass..🎸🎸
Can't miss with SRV the band Double Trouble. Drums and bass and later with Reece on keyboard. They just know how to follow SRVS lead. Thanks for your reaction. 😊
I love this performance and all of Stevie’s. But at the same time they make me sad because he is no longer with us. But thankful for the gift he gave us when he was
SRV is one of my two biggest regrets. Those that I had the chance to see and didnt. Him and any real version of Black Sabbath. Lived in LA area 1986-1991 and he hit there a couple times. Not near the same thing, but did see Jimmy Vaughn with Clapton in the early 90s in St Louis....but as awesome as that was....SRV would have been generations above it.
I was blessed to be standing directly under him at the front of the stage, such that his sweat got on me and I touched his alligator boots, (on the down-low.) He died two weeks later. Still not over it. He had been my bucket list for 6 years. What a loss. 😪
A friend and a buddy of his were crawling the New Orleans music joints looking for another buddy playing a gig. They were rather in it, drinks wise. But they got somewhere (iirc, he thinks it was "The Howlin' Wolf" like I said, drinks had been had) and some skinny kid in a hat was wailing away on a guitar, and the next song was this. Mary Had A Little Lamb. They had stumbled on SRV before most anyone knew who he was. They never did find their buddy's gig. They stayed until being chased out.
You should also check out the band that was formed after Steve's death called the Arc Angels. Made up of Chris and Tommy (drums and bass here) and 2 of his common collaborators Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II. All hailing from the Austin music scene, it was an awesome supergroup. "Sent By Angels" was their main single. Certainly worth a listen and hopefully a reaction.
This performance is mind blowing but also makes me sad when I think of what a talented guitarist and man Stevie was. RIP ❤ I recommend Riviera Paradise it’s a beautiful, magical performance perfected by Stevie. Divine!
You really should react to his full MTV unplugged session plays 3 songs all on a 12 string acoustic and makes it look the easiest thing to play ever really shines on his vocals aswell
👏🙌👌‼️. Really appreciated your reaction~after all what's not to like? This bluesy arrangement was originally a Buddy Guy take and Stevie put his spin on Buddy's take. Everything from this 1989 venue is 🔥🔥🔥💯. Another beautiful piano solo from Reese (who is like Stevie but on the keys!) is also from this set. My most favorite song from Stevie is his original Riveria Paradise. He worked on it for years but perfected it after his own rehab and recovery (late 1986). He dedicates it to all those still suffering in any way. It is like receiving a warm, golden hug from this man's soul💫🌟⭐️✨. Stevie spent all the years he had left after recovery helping others do the same. He was on a mission and it still inspires people to this day to get clean, healthy, and happy like Stevie did🫶❣️ Keep falling down this 🐇🐇🐇hole! Always something new and wonderful to discover✌️🌹
Hi Sohum, I love that are reacting to 2 of my favorite artists, The Warning and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Your reactions are wonderful and I hope you continue down both the SRV and The Warning rabbit holes. SRV was my favorite musician though the 80s and recently I have discovered my new favorite band, The Warning. Keep up the good reactions my friend.
Reese and Stevie were made for each other! Two geniuses on their own instruments. 😊 Reese also has a magnificent solo in Riviera Paradise: th-cam.com/video/3c_8VUL5jks/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d6IRwngTX6fJKfx9 As for your mission statement, I have to say Go You! We need more people like you in this world! More power to ya! 🥳👍👍
There is an amazing moment in the movie Amadeus, where Mozart’s enemy Saliery states about Mozart “it’s like he’s just taking dictation from God“ it’s a perfect description of the way Stevie was just channeling the music of the universe straight into his guitar. He never played the same song twice, it was just flowing through him in real time. Perfect proof, Stevie just doing a sound check, it will blow your mind. th-cam.com/video/yQ2dvtMuFqs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WseTuKXHhoeBOyEK
Austin City Limits yes but 1989. He was there twice the first time 1983 but his 1989 return was Stevie at his peak of health, sobriety, and even more passion if that is possible.🎸🎶💙

Agreed! That Goin Down version from Joe and band is pretty spectacular.
Reese was fabulous on the keys🔥🔥🔥
little known fact...I think...is that Reese is twice inducted to the hall of fame.
@@lorencasey8999 Well he outta. He's RIDICULOUS! 🤩🤯

Bass player Tommy Shannon played with 2 of the greatest axemen..SRV and Johnny Winter.
and tommy was there at woodstock 69

Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.
SRV was such a talent... can't even imagine what he would've done if he hadn't died so young.
He was intending to move towards a Jazz style after touring with Jimmy on their album promo. More stuff like Riviera Paradise and such.
I love your mission statement. Music really is a language we all can understand.
Cheers my friend
If you like SRV clean and Reeses keys, check out Riveria Paradise also from this concert. It's possibly his most spiritual song...
Thanks for your reaction to one of my favs. I really need this song this morning ❤❤❤
My pleasure!!

That tremolo sound is an organ with a Leslie cabinet. They have a spinning cone kind of. Or is simulated on his keyboard.
Need to watch Couldnt Srand The Weather from the same show, austin city limits 1989. All get their own solos!

Thank you for that very appropriate quote🌹🫶✌️
@ you are very welcome, I too wish I would have discovered him while he was alive.
This is from Austin City Lights (tv show) in 1986 after Stevie and Tommy (bass) completed drug rehab and were clean.
"Tiscket............Tasket" . .....
