    Perhaps the final gesture Velen gave Kj was him implanting a bomb inside him as a final "fuck you" by the powers of the holy light... Jk, but still I found it interesting how such a simple gesture can raise such questions, so I decided to go over it anyway, since arguing for/against it would ultimately reveal lore related to Velen and Kil'jaeden anyway. Regardless, I'm glad these two finally got some closure, and the raid is pretty neat so far. What do you guys think of the cutscene/raid?

    I don't think Velen showed anything to Kil'Jaeden.
    I think all he did was show him that, even after everything, Velen still loved him and forgave him. Kil'jaeden was already constantly shown to have doubts and even implied to have regrets over it all, so imagine how tortured he was thinking that his own brother despised him for such a huge mistake.

      What about Archimonde, technically he's not dead yet. He never died in the Twisting Nether.

    • @joeyyoung8104
      @joeyyoung8104 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Archimonde did die in the twisting nether. Mythic HFC Ends with you and archimonde in the twisting nether and that's where you strike the final blow, however you do end up back in the well real world for the cinematic with Guldan so blizz could definitely pull a "oh no he isn't dead at all" type deal or they could leave him dead, however Kil'jaden is most definitely gone for good.

    • @mrjerry802
      @mrjerry802 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, so Archimonde, could be alive. Kil"jaden is definitely dead because he died near a Fel Corrupted planet. Archimonde died on Draenor, so really he could still be alive.

    My theory is that Velen is actually rekindling a spark of light within Kil'Jaeden, placing his hand upon the Place where the blessing of the Naaru is received, not only a sign of forgiveness, but a way to also give his very last moments a sense of tranquility as he did afterall, realize his faults. This would also explain the HASTENED explosion that occurred on KJ, as the light would fuse with the fel and cause a rather vile explosion. The Maiden fight only backs this up!

    Remember the cinematic from WoD where Alt-Velen gave Yrel the "Mark" thingie? The motion there is almost identical to the one he made here; touching the forehead. It's as much a theory as anything, but I believe it might have roots in Eredar tradition. It might not be a sign of forgiveness, but perhaps a mark of honor of some sort. Their forehead is where the "Mark of the Naaru" is when they use it, and where Velen's own mark hovers.
    I think it's a dual-part thing: Equal parts a mark of honor of sorts, but also a sign of, perhaps, forgiveness.
    I dunno. It's ambiguous as heck, but the similarity between this, and what Alt-Velen did to Yrel, seems to be too much to be a simple coincidence. I think there's some connection, which I assume to be rooted in ancient Eredar tradition.

      The thing Alt-velen gave Yrel was the gift of sight (The vision into the vision velen gets) basicly yrel can now see velsn vision.

    • @1Kapuchu100
      @1Kapuchu100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I highly doubt that. We know that Velen can share his visions, but I don't recall there being any mentions anywhere of him being able to pass on his gift. It was, after all, something given to him by the Naaru. It's not really his to give.

    I really hope that if we get to fight Sargeras in a Raid, that it's a fight that lasts through the whole raid. Earlier fights being about weakening sargeras directly or not, and later on fighting him on many stages, each of them being considered a boss fight on their own. Maybe we get a fight that is his Heart, or a fight with souls he's reaped from life, world souls he's obliterated, and finally the dark titan himself.

    I think it's more than simply forgiveness: it's an act of compassion. Remember: Kil'jaeden created the Scourge and the plague. The same horrifying damnation that greeted Arthas and Sylvanas also waits for him. Velen knows this and there's nothing he can do about it: but he can share the Light with Kil'jaeden one last time. This goes beyond just forgiveness: it is an act of compassion. This makes sense as Velen is by far the most powerful Light-wielder in the lore (much more powerful than the player: his power word barrier is five times the size, and insta-kills demons that run into it). The greatest virtue for those who use the Light is compassion: particularly compassion for one's foes. This therefore is a simple but staggering act of compassion: given the history between the two characters. Thus Kil'jaeden's look of awe. The very idea that Velen would still care how Kil'jaeden was feeling after everything he's done is mind-blowing in itself.

    I think it was a gesture, Kil'Jaeden had forsaken the light for so long, and at the end Velen saw his true regret in turning from the light and that Kil'Jaeden didn't believe he would feel the touch of the light again. He was relieved that he was able to feel the light one last time.

    I like the mind link being reestablished theory. Kil'Jaden smiling because he knew that Velen had forgiven him and saw that he still cared for him and had hoped and prayed to the light that he would see the folly of his ways. The intro cinematic where KJ talked back to Sargeras was very poignant. It seemed KJ realized he had made a mistake.

    In my opinion, with what your friend at Blizzard said and how Velen acted in the cinematic, I genuinely think that Velen has either been corrupted or possessed by Sargeras. It's a theory that has been thrown around a few times in the WoW community and I think it's more possible than ever. It also makes what Blizzard said about the end boss being someone we know and has been pulling the strings even more plausible. I don't know, just a thought.

    Sad thing is Archominde never got this kinda treatment honestly we only defeated him oncee truely since the battle of mount hyjal it wasnt even us that killed him which the wisp did all the real winners still have fear and fire nightmares and how hard it was for some people to use the tears but I think having grom as the final boss while guldan escapes an summons him to our world with some story behind it instead of him just showing up would have been great.

    When Velen put his hand over KJ head, you can see KJ moving his eyes like if hes looking at somethings... thats what lets me to think that velen actually show something to KJ before he die, so he can die in peace even when he did atrocities againts him own people, because in the end they are brothers. of course velen forgiven him too thats why he show him the vision of Sargeras defeat.

  • @someonesomewhere5994
    @someonesomewhere5994 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a bit of an odd theory.
    You said Velen showed KJ and Arch "the vision" before those two joined Sargeras and the Burning Legion. If Velen showed KJ, in his final moment "the vision" and KJ was in awe, these visions could not have been the same. Meaning the first was either a "lied" vision or merely part of "the vision".
    (Remember Velen told KJ that, together, they could have resisted The Burning Legion and/or Sargeras, not that they could have defeated it/him. This also means Velen saw multiple versions of the future through multiple universes in different timeframes. For example: Draenor-Outland are "both" essential to the future of Azeroth)
    What if;
    Velen was aware that KJ and Arch would have to join Sargeras in order for events to turn out as they did, for the draenae to flee to Azeroth and Velen to guide us to Argus. Argus had to be corrupted for events to turn out as they will in patch 7.3. Velen could have intentionally shown a different or incomplete vision to KJ and Arch.
    Why? Because Velen cannot controll these events, he merely sees the possibilities. He knew (or was shown) that if he would tell them everything he saw, they could still join Sargeras and if so, they would be a step ahead of us at every turn. Meaning The Burning Crusade would succeed.
    Ofcourse the N'aru could have shown an incomplete vision to Velen to have events to turn out as they did, remember Velen was angry about being a prophet and all.
    Thanks for reading, hope I didn't waste your time or give you a headache.

  • @TheMMObro
    @TheMMObro 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    a vision of sargeras being defeated isn't impossible. it doesn't mean he WILL DEFINITELY be defeated, it just means that it's a POSSIBLE future. remember, velen said that his visions are NOT the future, just POSSIBLE futures and actions must still be taken to make those futures come to fruition. the problem is you can't really know exactly WHAT actions to take

    I was expecting that kiljaeden would have won against us and illidan and khadgar, but velen uses his superpowers to defeat him on it's own, using the power of the light and the naaru, he would have defeated him through the visions and flashbacks that would shatter kiljaeden's soul which would give us the seccond chance of defeating him, just like tirion did against arthas

    I have a theory that what Velen does is show Kil'jaeden the reason Velen left Argus with several of their people, instead of joining Kil'jaeden and Archimonde in helping Sargeras ending all life to prevent the Void Gods (Remember, that this is now the official reasoning for Sargeras' actions. He does not hate life, he reasons that he needs to destroy it all to stop the Void Gods, and even states that life might come back and hopes it does).
    In the grand scheme of things I believe that Velen might have received a vision from the Naaru showing him a line of choices and decisions that would lead to the timeline and outcomes that has the largest possibility for saving the majority of life in the universe and defeating the Void Gods / maintaining a balance. It is clearly established that there exists nearly endless different timelines in the Warcraft universe where small or large differences produce very different outcomes. Thus, it is possible that the Naaru has shown Velen several visions and futures showing him all the terrible decisions, consequences and fates that are necessary for achieving this "best possible timeline for winning". It may be so that this certain timeline is the one that maximizes our chance of persuading Sargeras or at least getting some help from him in terms of redeeming the Azeroth Titan Soul or defeating the Void Gods.
    Now, there are many leaps of faith in this theory and some contradictions to be sure, but some old and recent lore supports it. The entire issue of the Infinite Dragonflight could be explained through this theory. The entire issue between Velen and Kil'jaeden, as well as Kil'jaedens character could be explained by it as well. The Legion and Sargeras makes more sense and is given much more depth. In a very broad view of Warcraft lore, it does make sense.

    He did that so that he would be the one to land the last strike.at death there is little relief fear r anything at all.that was a dyeing eredar and velen concentrated the light onto his head to make the additional cracks appear.as it was he would be died a slow painful but inevitable death as the ship crashed into Argus.but Velen for all that had happened for all he was to suffer he took the final blow forced enough light into his brothers head so the fuel within within would react and explode.

    I have my own theory. It links to what the final boss of legion may be and what the gesture was. If you remember earlier in legion when gul'dan killed varian wrynn by placing his hand on him and then varian's body started glowing with green cracks/lines. My theory is what if Velen saddened by the death of his Son or he just gives in to the corruption turns to Sargeras and as one more try to get him on board sargeras promises that he will bring back velen's Son. After thinking about it Velen gives In and accepts the agreement, but decides to destroy us from the inside by acting like he's still on our side. As I said earlier how Gul'dan killed Varian and those green lines appeared, think about what happened when Valen placed his hand on kil'jaedan's head. Green lines appeared. My theory is that as blizzard hinted earlier in legion about how the final boss would be someone who had been working with us for nearly all of legion and we wouldn't expect it. What if in the end of legion when we are about to kill sargeras velen suddenly freezes You in mid air and to the shock of khadgar, Illadin, you and whoever else will be there turns into a giant twisted form of his original self and fights us. If this happenes I will be so happy, Also if you want to put this in a video or something please credit me.Thanks!

      Velen's son was a Man'Ari, a demon, yes. But before that he was an Eredar - like Velen, Kil'Jaeden and everyone else. He was just corrupted like the rest of the Eredar who joined the Legion.

    I think that the gesture was just a simple way of saying Good Bye.. to an old brother. They saw each other as brothers. As family. Which was why Kiljaden felt betrayed by Velen when he didnt chose to side with him back during the Sargeras corrupting them time. Even after all the things had hapened. He used to be friends, brothers. And this is just a Good bye. Cus this time, Kiljaden was being destroyed. Ending everything the Drenai had gone thru, all the worlds they were hunted on, the wholle orcs butchering the drenai of Draenor. It all ended there. You know... Kiljaden was a threat to Velen.. But he probably always believed that he could redeem him. EVen with all the hate. Maybe this was his last atempt at that. And Kiljaden just accepted it. His final moment with his friend. Who he never really hated... Just hurt by him.

    Part of me wants velen to have done something so that KJ is still alive but has been purified in some way and the expansion ends with them ruling argus together once again. I know it sounds kinda dumb but I think it would be a nice ending. Or, perhaps velen is corrupted by N'zoth and is placing the void in KJ's mind in order to corrupt him so that blizzard can bring him back again and again and again

    I knew Archimonde was more evil than Kiljaeden. One tell tale factor in this end is: Kiljaeden nearly wiped out the draenei with *feeling*. Archimonde consumed countless worlds with *none*.

    Do you believe Kil'jaeden is dead? Since the fight ends in Argus (between The Twisting Nether and The Great Dark Beyond)..
    My point is, there is no way we're going to fight Sargeras, lorewise it would be a HUGE flop to be able to even engage Sargeras in combat. So are we actually finishing Kil'jaeden in Argus? (I believe he deserves a more intense ending, one of the greatest villains can't be killed in 1 raid).. and if not, who are we seeing in Argus?

    I would be scared if Velen saw true regret and, being himself now unfaithful with the light, he switched places with Kil'jaeden, so that he, with renewed faith, could lead better than Velen now could. But I feel that's far stretched =)

    How about this, rather than reflecting on what that gesture was, because I really don't care either way now. Let's look at it from this point of view. Here is a guy, Kil'Jaeden, who committed evil willingly, willingly...decided to go own the road of darkness on his own, no squid monsters, no voices in his head making him do it, driving him to madness, he made the choice to become what he is...and we get this nice little send off for him. A subtle gesture from his long time friend and brother, someone he has known probably far longer than being in the service of Sargeras himself...and yet, we don't have something similar for Deathwing or Malygos.
    No last minute thought of really feeling sorry, maybe thinking that if Alex could have been more attentive, or looked after her two brothers, maybe the thing that led them to become what they became wouldn't have happened. But nope! We get a cinematic about how Aggra's gonna have a baby! Because that's more important!
    Let's just get one thing clear here, we're being made to feel sorry for a person who WILLINGLY committed evil, and not for a person who was forced and tormented, and tortured because of what he was created to be...who under duress was made to commit atrocities. We get a cinematic to feel sorry for Kil'Jaeden, but not Neltharion? Instead, he just pops into sparkles, and the cinematic afterwards is we must now pay attention to Aggra's pregnancy?
    This is what pisses me off about Warcraft and why I left it. And it's not like they've done the sympathetic cinematic before. Arthas had a sympathetic cinematic.
    No, Blizzard, you don't get to have this.
