¸No corruption, Frostmourne steals the souls of everyone it touches, including it's wearer. Arthas lost his soul at that moment, and was then easily turned by Ner'Zhul trough the blade, which when Arthas picked up also freed Ner'Zhul from Kil'Jeaden's control. Arthas now battles for all eternity in the Nexus.

Personally Anakin always reminded me of Arthas. WC3 is older than Star Wars prequels. And while original Star Wars is lot older, Anakin's backstory is revealed to audience after WC3 came out. Everything people draw comparison to and say Warcraft 3 ripped off Star Wars comes from movies 2 years after game came out.

I honestly feel like crying right now. It's such a beautiful story. I remember playing this when I was 12 (I'm now 25), and it still has such a strong hold on me. I still don't think Arthas is really a bad guy - he was forced into all the deeds by Ner'zul, and when he took over, I never really understood why he continued to kill. I don't know at what point he turned and became truly evil during the Frozen Throne campaign in WC3

Even before he was overtaken by the blade, he was committing terrible acts like the Stratholme purge and blaming the ship burning on the mercenaries he hired. He already possessed within him a capacity for malice independent of the intervention of Ner'zhul. In short, Arthas isn't a bad guy, at least not initially. He is good. Too good. The result of being too good is his ultimate downfall, because of how strongly he felt towards the slightest act of evil against those he loved. Being too pure is the classic making of a tragic character.
Arthas is and will be forever my favorite World of Warcrat Character. You .. sir.. did an AWSOME job on this Lore! Good narration as always! I love you job! +1

the lich king can't be destroyed. His existance keeps the undead hoards under control, if they are not controled, they can masacre the entire azeroth. Yet, Arthas's soul may return one day, yet, he mai redeem all his sins, but not touch the crown, for there must always be a Lich King.

Arthas was such a great character, he's what kept my interest in Warcraft in a long time. I never played WoW because I'm not into MMO, but after watching this, it kept my interest rekindle of the lore. Arthas...the fallen hero...Arthas...the damned Lich King...Arthas...the tragic prince.
Wotlk still is my absolute favorite in lore, gear, character development, environment, music, ambiance or the feeling when you go into grizzly hills :), and specs cause for me I played as a paladin, death knight and warrior. these classes felt and played great in that expansion and as every other class during wotlk.
So the dreadlords crafted the helm of domination and kil'jaedan puts nerzhul's soul in it. Then in shadowlands it was explained that the jailer was the person who made the helm and the other armor set "These are confusing times"

Arthas and the Lich King Lore is by far the best in the Warcraft history. And since I played the first time a Death Knight, I wish there were an option to join the Lich King and fight on his side. But what you said at the end, that the alliance and the horde would unit. That will never happen. There are just to much differences. I'd love that, because I like the alliance races alot more, but my guild and friends are all horde. But that will sadly never happen. And I am pretty sure that the Lore behind the Lich King isn't over yet. Because in the Death Knight storyline in Legion, where you get your Class Mount. Bolvar says that he would take Acherus (the DK battlestation) if we die when we search for the Class Mount. He don't want to use it for the cathedral of the Paladins as Arthas did. He has some other plans with it. So I expect that there will happen something in the future.

Art has is the guy you know that he was a hero everyone loved, but his destiny changed and becomes what he was as a lich king. This introduction I've notice at part 3 why his face was never shown with the crown. Since he was no longer as a human nor Orc but as a lich king. A complete utter combination of evil that the crown is his face.
He is unique, but the parallels between Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker are extreme. Arthas = Anakin Lich King = Darth Vader Nerzhul/Kel Thuzad = Darth Sidious Jaina = Padme Uther = Obi Wan Kenobi Killing his Father and ordering the death of his Kingdom = Purging of the Jedi Temple Of course, the rise and fall of a hero story has been done over and over in various forms, this version just did it PERFECT.
man I've never played wow or Warcraft, but damn this made me almost cry. i mean this is a masterpiece, I hope that one day they either make a movie/series that stays true to its source. Even tho arthas did horrible things, I couldn't stop to feel empathy for him, doing these atrocities that he has done or maybe MUST have done like purging that city of 'undead' changed him. I thank blizzard for making such a beautiful story and hearthstone to kinda introduce me to it.
Yeah. Even though Arthas' actions and choices were questionable. his love for his people was understandable and he did want to be the prince everyone in Lordaeron would be proud of, but the Scourge and the Lich King, and his own people turning into undead really did a number on his psyche and caused him to go completely insane.

Krucial, i am confused by some things: 1) How was the first portal opened? I think in your video just said at 3:50 that the alliance pushed the horde back through the portal and that Gorefiend wanted to reopen it, so i am curious 2) Taling about reopening the portal, if the book of Medivh and the Eye of Dalaran are needed for that (i guess both items would be on Azeroth?) how did they get them before opening the portal? 3) Same topic: I thought at these events, Gul'dan was still alive... but if so, whats the Skull of Gul'dan -- i ever thought it is HIS torn-off skull used by others during rituals etc. (but even if so, Gul'dan died in the Tomb of Sargeras by demons' hands -- how would his skull find a way out there, into the hands Khadgar for closing the Portal?..) Separate question: I guess, Frostmourne (which was in this cave somewhere in Northrend), was placed there on purpose by the Ner'zhul so that Arthas may find it? And likewiese the hint from Muradin about a "mighty sword anywhere out there in Northrend" was due to Ner'zhuls mind controll?

Excellent lore. .. I have never seen anything like arthas that would be such impressive and eye catching. Although my first character is Arthas , I think he is very like to Jamshid in Iranian ancient lore... The big war between Jamshid and Ahreman.
Before we use to be champions of azeroth following huge lore characters on a path. Now the path is evolved around us and paints us as these super heroes that can even take over for Tirion and wield the ashbringer. Where did the excellent story telling and gameplay from WOTLK go?

Art has is the guy you know that he was a hero everyone loved, but his destiny changed and becomes what he was as a lich king.
This introduction I've notice at part 3 why his face was never shown with the crown. Since he was no longer as a human nor Orc but as a lich king. A complete utter combination of evil that the crown is his face.

He is unique, but the parallels between Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker are extreme.
Arthas = Anakin
Lich King = Darth Vader
Nerzhul/Kel Thuzad = Darth Sidious
Jaina = Padme
Uther = Obi Wan Kenobi
Killing his Father and ordering the death of his Kingdom = Purging of the Jedi Temple
Of course, the rise and fall of a hero story has been done over and over in various forms, this version just did it PERFECT.

man I've never played wow or Warcraft, but damn this made me almost cry. i mean this is a masterpiece, I hope that one day they either make a movie/series that stays true to its source. Even tho arthas did horrible things, I couldn't stop to feel empathy for him, doing these atrocities that he has done or maybe MUST have done like purging that city of 'undead' changed him.
I thank blizzard for making such a beautiful story and hearthstone to kinda introduce me to it.
Yeah. Even though Arthas' actions and choices were questionable. his love for his people was understandable and he did want to be the prince everyone in Lordaeron would be proud of, but the Scourge and the Lich King, and his own people turning into undead really did a number on his psyche and caused him to go completely insane.
So many youtubers done this and it never gets old.

Krucial, i am confused by some things:
1) How was the first portal opened? I think in your video just said at 3:50 that the alliance pushed the horde back through the portal and that Gorefiend wanted to reopen it, so i am curious
2) Taling about reopening the portal, if the book of Medivh and the Eye of Dalaran are needed for that (i guess both items would be on Azeroth?) how did they get them before opening the portal?
3) Same topic: I thought at these events, Gul'dan was still alive... but if so, whats the Skull of Gul'dan -- i ever thought it is HIS torn-off skull used by others during rituals etc. (but even if so, Gul'dan died in the Tomb of Sargeras by demons' hands -- how would his skull find a way out there, into the hands Khadgar for closing the Portal?..)
Separate question: I guess, Frostmourne (which was in this cave somewhere in Northrend), was placed there on purpose by the Ner'zhul so that Arthas may find it? And likewiese the hint from Muradin about a "mighty sword anywhere out there in Northrend" was due to Ner'zhuls mind controll?

Although my first character is Arthas , I think he is very like to Jamshid in Iranian ancient lore... The big war between Jamshid and Ahreman.

you dont have to say "imho", it's objectively the best story of warcraft, because it is the primary focus and main story told by warcraft.

This video is a good outline for an Arthas/lich king movie.
Before we use to be champions of azeroth following huge lore characters on a path. Now the path is evolved around us and paints us as these super heroes that can even take over for Tirion and wield the ashbringer. Where did the excellent story telling and gameplay from WOTLK go?
