Hi ! Mandi , I watched your EBC trek vlog at the midnight. The way you present the content and the scenery is so unique and lovely . I have watched many different vlogs but your's is the most interesting . The love you are showing to the animals, it's pure and heart touching, there's no word to describe your affection towards animals and children.
Hi, Anil! Your message is so very beautiful and touching, and I am so lucky to have your as a viewer! Your very kind compliments have started my day off in the best way imaginable; thank you so much! I hope that you'll be back for Part 2 of this video which will be released in only 22 minutes 🥳
I loved your video of the EBC trek. Your sense of wonder along the way was so much fun to watch! I'm doing the trek solo (with a guide though) in 2025 and your video was so informative and helpful. I'm quite concerned about altitude sickness, but plan to trek very slowly. Thanks again!
Hi, Janice! It's so great to hear from you! What a lovely message. Thank you! I am so excited for you! Hooray for your upcoming trek next year! Oh my: the altitude sickness was miserable! Thankfully, your guide will be there with medicine on hand - and hopefully supplemental oxygen - which I wish I had 😀I think that you are going to have an incredible time, and I can't wait to hear more about it. Mandi
Hi, Kjellery! It's so nice to hear from you, and thank you so much for your very kind message; it really makes my day! How exciting that you are doing the EBC trek -- and so soon! I'm so happy for you. I hope to hear all about it, and you are welcome to let me know if you have any questions while you are preparing. Mandi 🌞😀
@@GoMandiMartin Hi thanks. Most days you seemed to wake up unwell but when you headed out for the day you seemed very chilly. I was wondering what did you do to feel better and get yourself back on the tracks so quickly
@@kjellery Hi! It's great to see you again 😃 I'm so sorry about my delay; I thought that I responded last week, but now I don't see my response 🙈 That is such a great question. I had taken some over the counter pain reliever pills with me, and taking those consistently, i.e., taking the next dose before the current dose had a chance to wear off, helped a bit. There honestly wasn't too much that I could do. There were some days when the elevation dipped lower, and I did feel a bit better briefly. Also, I hiked slower and hiked for 8 days straight instead of hiking for 6 days over an 8 day period. With this, planning my route carefully really helped. If you are interested and haven't seen it yet, here's my video on how to plan your route: th-cam.com/video/z3vY0ZzeShc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wZLDl8MlM7hStWcp I really hope this helps. Good luck as you continue to prepare for your trek!
Hi, Justinas! It's so nice to hear from you; thank you so much for your kind words. For water purification tablets, I use these: amzn.to/45J8Qrk I really hope this helps, and I hope that you'll be able to join tomorrow's live chat Premiere.
Hi Mandi, another informative video, I hadn't heard of the solo phone charger, was it reliable and do you put it on the window sill. Also did you pay for your coffee/water etc. in USD $ or Nepalese currency.
Hi, Sandi! It's such a pleasure to hear from you again! Ah, yes! I have a collection of power banks, and they come with me just about everywhere especially when I'm filming, i.e., always! Haha. The one in the windowsill is solar, and I put put it in the sun to charge (Solar Power Bank: amzn.to/3YZLT0A) and I took mini/ultralight power banks with me as well (Ultralight Power Banks: amzn.to/3YUMvVu). They'll be a video dedicated to electronics and charging coming soon thanks to your wonderful and inspiring question. Thank you for being such an awesome subscriber! 💐
Oh yes, and from the moment you arrive in Lukla, it's all Nepalese rupees. There isn't an easy way for the locals along the trail to convert currency, and my experience was that no one accepted anything other than rupees 😊 Thank you for this question!
You're too sweet, Joe. Gosh, getting to that weight was such a challenge, but yippie! It felt like the perfect weight as I carried it, too. Not too light that I regretted leaving stuff behind, and not too heavy that I regretted some of the things I took. It was just right 💃 Thank you for your daily positivity; you help make this channel such a joy! 🤩
Hi, Linja! What a lovey message; thank you! Messages like this totally make my day! I hope to see you back this coming Thursday, July 6 for Part 2 of this video 🎉
I love the Appalachian Trial. There are so many spots to travel on it or even do the whole thing. that would be rad. This video is cool. Again loaded info. This is 4 months of planning packed into a video. Think about how valuable that is. Did you bring Diamox? is that part of the meds?
Right! The A.T. is great! It does have some miserable spots... you've seen my feet hahhahaaaa. Half of that is the handywork of the A.T. 😁 I'm really happy that you like this video, and I see from your recent message that you caught the No. 1 thing that I wish I had. Poor Diamox still sitting in it's package haha. I guess we can't have a trip that goes toooo smoothly, right? 🎈🎈🎈
@@GoMandiMartin Yes, I don't feel so bad because I would be the one that would go through. Hell and high water to get it, and then just forget to pack it. I see from other videos that the medicine is clutch.
@@JoeKyser Oh, my gosh! I totally hear you on that one! I've definitely - accidentally - done that before where I'm been such a pain and spent so much time and energy, and then ended up not even taking the way-too-hard-to-get item with me The goat has no place here; he's just so adorable! And, when I was looking for a suitable emoji, this one was the one that made me laugh, so in he goes! Yeah, I was very back and forth about the medicine for that same reason. I was torn between, "what if I don't even need it," and "what if I don't need it," and "what if I take (consume) the medicine and then never know how I would have done without it." Around and around I went on that, but gosh. It was unfortunate that so many people never need it and have no effects, and I felt deathly ill. But, I'm still thinking of a way to use that to my advantage 😀
Hi, Banzee! You are too kind! Thank you so much for the very wonderful message. I hope to see you back this coming Thursday, July 6 for Part 2 of this video 🎉
Hi, Bishal! It's so nice to hear from you. I hope that you are doing well. When I did my trek in the middle of May, it was completely legal, but I had to purchase a government pass to do so. I'll be sharing a video on how I did that very soon, and I hope you are safe and healthy until then 😊
Hopefully, the government will continue to allow solo trekkers to purchase a permit to trek solo, as it's such an incredible experience to do it all by yourself ⭐
Kirk! I know that this particular video may not interest you - but I think you'll have something to say about it should you watch it hahhahahhahahhaahaaa. I crack myself up!
What I understand from the Nepal trekking groups,is that the mandatory guide rule is not applicable in the sagarmatha region.? Is guide / porter mandatory for trekking in Nepal? Can I trek without guide / porter in Nepal?
Hi, Agilesh! It's great to hear from you and a huge welcome! Yes, you can at the moment trek without a guide and porter -- but, the laws around that have changed several times in the past few months. There's something called an "Trek Card" that independent/solo trekkers purchase on the trail for 5,000 Nepalese rupees that allows you to trek solo. I hope this helps. This is all I can share right now as I'll have a video coming out about this soon :)
Good morning, Agilesh! I hope that you are doing well today and that your possible plans to trek the EBC are progressing nicely. I just wanted to let you know that I just published my EBC trek video (Part 1), and if you're still curious about the Trek Cards and how to trek solo, I show some of that in this video.
