Hi Mandi. This flight is a highlight of the trip, especially if you think positive thoughts along the way!! Weight limits are 10kg checked and you can still carry on a bag 5kgs max, so this does allow you to pack a pretty big bag. I packed for comfort, so was carrying about 14kgs in a excellent Osprey pack I brought with me from home. Putting it on for 10 of the 12 days on the trek was no problem as I used everything I brought with me and made no-one carry it. The flight out from Lukla was delayed by a day which was a good insight into the chaos that can occur at the airport. We had a re-scheduled check-in time of 10.30, but we went to the airport once the first flights had left and was put on a flight 2 hours earlier, which with the drive from Rammechap was appreciated. We didn't have a booking from transport from Rammechap, but there was plenty of choice available when we landed. Good videos Mandi.

How great that you went without a porter; for me, I felt so proud and felt that I accomplished so much more by being solely responsible for all of my own gear and supplies. Just got back from my solo EBC trip(Sep 9th -> 25yh) with additional 2 passes including Kongma La(almost dead when crossing Khumbu Glacier...) and Cho La. The trekking card you shared worked just perfect for solo trekking. Your channel helped me a lot for my prep; I was able to manage my backpack under 7.5 KGs without water. Thank you!

Sorry I missed the live stream - was crazy busy yesterday. Great advice, as always, especially on timing the trek with the flights. I walked in from Jiri but pre-booked the flight out. Too much fun and rapture en-route to Everest left me 2 days to get from Gorak Shep to Lukla for the plane. Day 1: Gorak Shep to Namche; Day 2: Namche to Lukla. I was completely fried after that. I found the flight exciting, though I did Pokara to Kathmandu a month after and the turbulence was so bad couples were praying and holding hands across the aisle.

I can't believe how different your experience from Pokara to Kathmandu was from my experience to Lukla. That would have been terrifying! I visited Nepal last August 18-august 26 but only around the Kathmandu Area...Hopefully next year I could also do Hiking at least in Annapurna base Camp and Mustang area 😊

You know I have been there done that trying to get the shot but all I received was the shot of people taking shots. I will take it if I have to. That can be a little interesting sometimes. I like photographing people in their natural awe
Ohhh definitely! I'm right there with you on that one! I use to love photography, and I could spend an eternity setting up one shot, but every since the first time I hit "record," I haven't really looked back haha. But, I did recently get a photography lens, so now it's time to practice 🥸
@GoMandiMartin The fast-paced 30 frames per second can be addictive. Its so many pictures so fast lol
I have always had a fascination with both. The difference from when I was a kid till now is wild. From the equipment to social norms. Fir example, I can remember at one time people flocking to the camera in public. Now they treat it like its a gun. I had tape I recorded onto and would create titling overlays as its recording. The pause/stop record button was the general editor. Its hars not to want to use the latest newest equipment. Whay used to be a niche is now common and standard.

I still kind of use the stop and start recording as way to edit hahha...I wish we had a pause button option; that would make things so much easier haha. Strict Weight limits I am sure has a lot to do with the worlds most dangerous airport. No go around is freaking nuts Mandi. Im not telling you anything you don't already know. I am sure they gut those planes that land there and they are minus a lot of stuff.

Hi, Jenna dear! Oh, gosh! That can't be fun; you poor thing! 😃 I recently learned - at the worst imaginable time, i.e., during my trip through Nepal, that I apparently now have what Google says (haha!) is mal de debarquement syndrome; my body feels like it's still moving (in a way that makes me dizzy like takeoffs and landings) long after I've been on the ground. I had that for about 2 months after I first arrived in Nepal, but thank goodness that it's subsided now. It's so trippy haha 🙃 I hope that you are having a great day today, Jenna!
