    As a DIY builder I enjoy seeing what manufactures use for drivers and crossover parts inside their speakers.

    The frames are injection molded plastic parts made from a glass fiber filled plastic which is common in automotive applications although usually using polypropylene instead of ABS.

    Empty cabinets always sound very “boingy “ in open box knock tests. You can hear the absorption reduce that higher frequency stuff.

    Everything SVS builds is top notch. Even their littlest speakers (Prime Satellites) could be used as a weapon; they weigh a ton for something so tiny!

    Hi Ron. Always enjoy your Videos. Your tear down videos are particularly interesting and informative. One thing I thought should be included in any tear down, is to run a magnet over the Binding Posts/Terminals to detect ferrous in their construction. Danny Richie teaches that ferrous in the signal path has an impact on the performance of Loudspeakers. Keep up the good work. Rocky

    Would you happen to know what the impedance is for the woofers? 4, 8 or 16 ohm?

    Any plans to do teardown of the Wharfedale 4.4 evos? These videos are so useful for seeing how different manufacture design their cabinets.

    i was thinking about the height of the speakers, 41" was the measurement in the video, and i compared it to me sitting upright in my chair here and i got 49" to my ear where i want the tweeter at. or between the tweeter and the midrange, depending if its mtm just one midrange this could change. i could go as low as 42" if i slide far down into the chair.

    nice job Ron. Has it ever been of interest to you to take a budget box speaker , test it , then tear it down and replace the factory insulation and replace it with no-res , retest it and see just what no-res can accomplish? i have a feeling it may be best bang for the buck one can do.

    What are you doing Ron, taking apart every speaker that I've tried or owned! Was probably one of the first to purchase those from SVS and to be honest, I returned them and then tried the JBL 590's and there was no contest so I got the whole 5 series for my home theater! Very well-built though but you really need the Ultras to compete with the 590's so that's not the speaker's fault!🤔😬🤗😇 and then, can you really compare a metal Dome Tweeter to a compression horn done correctly?🤫🤫🤭🤭😬

    kind of sad to see them use shuch sh!t crossover components, cabinets looks stellar though

  • @Vincent-lw2sp
    @Vincent-lw2sp 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shouldn't the listening review be done prior to the teardown? I imagine that seeing the crossover parts prior to listening to the speaker would bias ones opinion about what they are hearing. Especially if one is involved with promoting a company that offers crossover upgrades.
    Yes, I'm implying a conspiracy but not that it's necessarily intentional.
    I just think that strong views along with unconscious (or conscious) bias make for a less than completely honest review. Not saying that Ron would or has ever intentionally made a false review, just that we are all guilty of bias, and seeing an iron core inductor or an electrolytic capacitor in a crossover would immediately taint listening expectations if you hold a strong opinion about them.
    --See what I did there? Now you have to give them a glowing review. Hahaha

    • @Newrecordday2013
      @Newrecordday2013  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What makes you think the teardown was done before listening? It’s so funny how many of you guys just assume that kind of stuff. I’ve actually had these for months... the second a speaker comes in... I listen. Everything - ranging from measurements to tear-downs is all done long after I’ve made up my mind.
