The Best speakers for under $2,000 is my 22 year old Sonus Faber Concertos. Revel speakers are great with 1st order crossovers.. The best speakers in the world ALL ALL have 1st order crossovers, or no crossover at all, period! Old Thiel speakers with a 1st order crossover is great. B & W with 1st order crossover no good. Vandersteen is the best cheap 1st order crossover speaker. Most of the best speakers use. My Tube Audio Design speakers have no crossover, but they cant be found. Big woofers are not clear, I like only speakers with a 4 to 7 inch woofer. I only like speakers with ports & paper woofers.
SVS Prime Pinnacle...bought a pair shortly after they came out and I love them. All SVS in 7.2.4 powered by a Denon X3800H and Emotiva BasX A3. Highly recommended!
I really like your no nonsense approach to home audio/video. And saying its for everyone is a message and attitude that participants in this hobby need to get out there, IMHO there are a lot of elite minded participants who give the rest of us a bad name by being audio snobs and unwilling to share common sense information to people coming into the hobby for the first time. We should be willing to mentor newbies with common sense accurate information and not some of the BS that the marketing agencies conspire to commit on ignorant consumers. Thank you for being a positive force in the quagmire that is the marketplace
So my Sub blew out after 15+ years of use, I guess I got my money’s worth? So the quest to get into Century 21 began. There are few big box listening rooms to sample unless you go to high end showrooms with 4 ohm speakers starting around $4,000 for the pair. I landed on this channel after watching reviews and comps of a variety of speakers in the $2 to $3k range. My music taste is across the board. I link to hear the plinking of piano keys, authentic vocals, and deep crisp bass tones. Your video pushed me over the edge with these SVS Prime towers. They’re on their way via fed ex. I’ll circle back with my comment on quality and sound. Thanks for your comprehensive description.
SVS make fantastic products. Not surprised by how much you enjoyed these. I remember when Josh Valour named the ultra towers his endgame speaker and bought them with his own money. I love their subs.
Great video as always! I LOVE how the bass robot was our fault!!! LOL A couple of months ago I was researching these speakers to see if I could "duplicate" them DIY. I've put a fair amount of time and thought into this idea, but put it on the back burner for a different project, but after watching this review, I may just get back into the idea of attempting to duplicate these. I feel the crossover networks are going to pose quite a challenge since each woofer is tuned to a different frequency, not to mention making sure phase alignments are all in....align. As far as the drivers go, I'm pretty sure they have a proprietary design from a known speaker driver manufacturer, but I think I can get close. Trying to see if I can build something as close as my ability will allow, but at a fraction of the cost. PEACE!!
Great video... had my Pinnacle Towers for 10 months now and don't regret the decision to go SVS. Paired them with the Ultra Center as part of my 7.2.4 system. Glad you had a chance to review some full size speakers! I found a pair of Infinity Beta 20's (circa 2011) that I was going to replace with one of your recommended bookshelves for my 2.0 Stereo set up, but they sound so great I'm staying with them... at least for now.
Awesome review. I know these push the cost for a lot of people, but since you wade into these waters from time to time, it would be nice to see a review of the Polk R 700's which are similar in price range. I would love to hear your opinion on soft dome tweeter vs the Ring tweeter on the Polk's. I think it would be a good head to head, build quality , size, power ratings. Im guessing the Polks might be harder to drive though, Keep up the great work.
Polk audio has a decent tweeter, granted but stop there. Polk cheaped out on the rest. The crossover, mids and bass drivers are really junk. The polk do not have the focus and clarity.
Randy, I love the dedication to staying true to who you are: dad jokes, reality checks, owning your biases, and just generally being fair and honest. Its why I keep coming back 😊 Thank you for another great review, as a SVS sub-woofer owner I am quite interested and intrigued by their speakers and where they might go.
Thanks very much for this review. I still love my SVS Ultra bookshelves, and if these reviewed speakers sound as good as my bookshelves, then they will be a good buy. Thanks for your efforts and time.
Really love your videos....Almost like being in your living room and listening to you in person. One request though could you let us hear some music on the equipment once in a while? Thankyou!
Great review! Please hold on to these and bring back the shoot-outs! Try to get the Polk Audio Reserve R700, whatever Klipsch is best under $2000, and 2 or 3 more brands under $2000 and do the Saturday Shoot-outs. Doesn't matter if some have dual 6 1/2 or dual 8's it's about what you get for the money!
Like so many others have said, the R700 has enough hype that it probably deserves a comparison. On the other hand, those speakers are enormous -- they're very nearly as wide as these things are deep. The size of those and the Q Acoustics Concept 50 (nevermind the 50's price) has me leaning more Paradigm 800F, but I'll put these on the list. Thanks!
I have these SVS Prime Pinnacle and TOTALLY happy with them. It shines with Hegel H190, Denafrips Pontus 2, 12th anniv. ed. and iFi Zen Streamer. A lot of bass, probably the most i ever had. Like Arendal suggest, i'm gonna try foam to put in a bass port... just a try to make the bass less obvious...
"Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays." Fletch was such a quotable movie. Thanks for the review! I love towers for my mains. Still rocking my 4-way JBL L-5s.
Thanks so much for giving a human perception review of these SVS speakers instead of a computer printout of frequencies I haven't heard since I was 20 years old. I knew that SVS made excellent subs, but never considered them for main speakers. Now that you have me hooked, I looked at their Ultra Tower speaker and wondered if spending a little more $$ is worth it for the higher priced Ultra Towers. Looking at their Ultra Towers kinda reminds me of my Acoustic Research AR-1 Towers with amplified subs built in. Any comparison of the Prime Pinnacles to the Ultra Towers would be greatly appreciated!
I’ve got SVS Prime towers and Emotiva T2+ towers. I did a whole comparison between the two in my home theater. Overall sound, SVS wins but it’s a close fight. I kept the Emotivas in the home theater because they look better. I kept the SVS towers for music in another room.
The old Energys, no longer available, the UPPER line (Reference Connoisseur) not the entry, did aluminum dome very well,. It was actually diffiult to tell that they had a "metal" dome and that is saying something. I have an old set of RC-10 bookshelves. These were a nice two way 5.24". Small, sweet and more bass than you would expect from a speaker this size. With a top end that was clean but NOT fatiguing.
Closest to jazz was some Plini, Arch Echo and some Polyphia. Some sax with Shining. Great speakers overall, and even better (to me) paired with 2 SVS SB-1000 pro subs.
As always a great review. Everyone talks about Watts but not about current and dampening factor. If an amp doubles every Ohm load that helps as well. I pay no attention to Watts. Amplifiers with high current and a good dampening factors dont blow up speakers: they control the speakers movements. Especially in the bass.
Another great video. SVS seem like they have a great lineup of speakers, and these speakers look pretty darn sweet. "I'll have a steak sandwich, and a steak sandwich."
I would love to see a BLIND shootout with speakers at opposite ends of the price spectrum. For example, Fluance vs SVS, Elac vs Wharfedale and so on. Mostly just to satisfy my ignorance when it comes to the question of can I (anyone) hear a discernable difference between $1000 and $2000 speakers. I believe a lot of us normal speaker buyers (normal speakers, not normal buyers !), excluding the audiophile crowd, are in this sweet spot, price wise, and if I can save a thousand or so on speakers and turn that into a better AVR/amp, I might be better off?? This all takes on additional meaning if we bring in all the discussion around diminishing returns spending more on speakers.
It's great, hearing all the comments about various speakers and system setups. I don't know a lot about most of the ones mentioned but as always; interesting. Whatever you have I would suggest tryin the elac unifi ub52 2.0s, just for the hell of it. Imo they are the best speaker for the price, the past year. Get em on sale if you can to just have them, even if not your main's.
Not a lot of competition at $1800?! 😳 Maybe I'm looking at this through European eyes but howzbout... Kef q950 Dali Oberon 9 Q acoustics concept 50 Monitor audio silver 500 Focal Aria Triangle Esprit Dali Opticon 6 Some kinda Dynaudio. ...many of which whisper sweet nothings into the ears or our S.O.'s who like design. I gotta 3000 micro. I love it. I'd have a hard time though selling Darth Vader's plinths of death here to the Mrs.
Man I wish I had two grand for these. I'm currently using some Kenwood floor standers with built in ported 15 inch subs that sound pretty good and I paid zero for. 2 grand could get me so much landscaping done and enough nice plywood to finish all my cabinet projects.
I have the prime Pinnacle speakers I like them a lot they actually have good sound lots of bass I have seven channel system I have to make it 11 channel if I went to I have a Yamaha rxz 11 prime speakers are excellent sounds really great I have the piano black gloss which I like a lot I listen to music with it and also I listen to surround sound when I'm listening action movies I recommend them if anybody has a good surround system they are excellent to speakers the whole entire set😊😊😊
I have to say there is an album that was released to the general public in late 1974 and for me is probably the number one pick to listen through deciding which speakers to buy period. So here it is.. The Alan Parsons Project Tales of mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe this album goes to all different ranges of Music qualification some beautiful pounding Rock the most awesome orchestral true. The next pick for me is Mike oldfield's hergest ridge another would-be Mike oldfield's incantations live the 4 cd set Parts 1 2 3 and 4.... and lastly you for Pure Hard Rock and Elton called Masters of Reality by a band called Masters of Reality with lead singer Chris Goss listen to a little tune called kill the king it will certainly help you decide which speakers to buy
This is a good review. You include music and HT use which is the way many speakers are used. I'm evaluating both Ultra bookshelfs and Pinnacle Towers to replace Elac Debut 2.0 (5.25") L/R in 5.1.2 HT system (already using Ultra cc). 3.5-way and bass extension will likely make the Pinnacles win out.
Just an FYI, the Aiyima A07 is now $50 on Amazon ($64.99 and a $15 off coupon). The Aiyima A07 Pro is now available. It has Bluetooth and tone controls.
Fletch!! The synth soundtrack in that film from Harold Faltermeyer is awesome. It’s close to Axel F, but better. That guy is awesome. So is Fletch. It’s all ball bearings these days.
Thought it was great in filming that I saw the reflection of a leg on the glossy speaker while try to see if you had filmed the secret amp you were running the speakers on
😅 I have the prime Pinnacle speakers I have an rxc 11 it's a 13 channel receiver so I went out and bought more so I can have 13 channelside and they sound awesome sound I'm watching an action movie I can hear the bass and the trouble I have sounds going all over my room I feel like I'm at a theater it is excellent I recommend them for everybody that has a surround system they make the best they also make subs I have Mark and Logan's subs on mine❤❤❤
For $2k with a piano gloss black finish I don't want to look at plastic pimples, you damn right I want magnets. My Emotiva B1+ has them at approx 1/8 the price ffs!
I had never heard of a metal tweeter I loved, and I doubt these would be any different. Ribbon, planar, or something similar is where it is at. I would have paired them with my SVS-SB16 Ultra if they had gone that route.
Lots of competition in the 1 to 2k range - calling these the best? I wonder how these compare to the Polk Reserve R700's for MUCH less. Or the Emotiva T2+ for less or the T3+ for the same money. [edit] Ah! Changed the video title to something more vague but still precocious. Perfect < Best? Either way, good work Randy. TBH I get that you have to put over the top language in video titles to drive engagement (Veritasium has a GREAT video on the topic) so I probably shouldn't have even commented on it. Ironically it worked - got me to comment.
I'd like you to do a head-to-head-to-head with the Emotiva towers and LRS+. I know the LRS won't dig as deep in the bass department, but I wonder if the incredible Magnepan clarity will make up for that in your head.
I am going to try the HSU CCB-8 if it sounds good will have 3 of them across . they are very easy to drive have a very large room so it help. Having 3 of the across solves a lot of issues center channel speakers have
So far you’re 2 for 2 with me Randy, the Fosi phono pre I’ve had for a while and the Geshelli J2 Ak which turned up on Friday, both brilliant but I’m now ignoring my vinyl 😂
Bass robot? LMAO! I'm seriously thinking about getting these speakers in the near future (probably in the high gloss finish) or the newly-released KLH F2 Kendall in the maple veneer finish. I live in South Jersey and I recently learned World Wide Stereo has two locations in the Philly area, Ardmore and Montgomeryville, and they carry both speakers. I love the look of both speakers but I would prefer to audition them side-by-side before I make my final decision. I'm also patiently waiting for the release of the new Emotiva Airmotiv line....decisions, decisions. I already have the Emo C1+ CC and also their BasX A3 amp in my system but I'm looking to get a pair of mains which I'll enjoy for at least the next twenty years. I've read SVS has great customer service which is HUGE in my book. Thanks for the review. I'm an early subscriber and I still love your channel.
I like the way you review your gear. If you can get them I'd like to here what you've got to say about the HECO Aurora 1000. These are about 12-13 hundred a pair.
Dude I'm guna be honest with u..when I first watched u I thought u were crazy..and still did for a good while. But now...Now I wish I was half as cool as u bruh ..grab a coffee..God bless man.
Thanks for your review. I just ordered SVS Prime Pinnacle Towers for a 2ch stereo setup for movies and music. I'm open to the possibility of adding a sub at some point. How would I go about adjusting the crossover and room eq without a receiver? Also what amp do you recommend and what was the secretone you used in the review? Thank you
I figure these speakers with the Prime Wireless Pro SoundBase is all I need? I just want a nice hassle free stereo system with enough bass extension for movies/music without buying an AVR+surround/centre speakers+subwoofer. Would the SVS Prime Wireless Pro SoundBase have enough power to drive these speakers?
Hi! Really like your content, keep up the good work! Would be really cool if you reviewed a pair of speakers from paradigm, they seem to be truly excellent but there is not that much talk about them in the community. They also make one of my hi-fi grails a subwoofer with 6x10" drivers😳
It would be cool if you built the CSS towers for a DIY style comparison with the commercially available stuff. Yes I’m a CSS fan boy, it’s your fault! 😂
They seem like a tough sell compared to a Kali IN-8 plus a sub system that should be the current mid-range standard unless someone wants to move up to high end stuff and Genelec. I would be worried about the vertical dispersion of these if someone does anything other than listen at ear level with thick carpets and some ceiling treatment.
You can also tweak the frequency arrivals by tilting your speakers. Very unpractical with floor standers. It’s why concentric speakers are so good off axis, the sources are identical. The engineers have to get it right though. Because we can’t tweak it. Now if we hear an underperforming concentric we can blame the engineers.
I was in the same dilemma. My listening position was on the closer side at 7ft and the pinnacles sounded very full and detailed. I compared with the SVS Ultra bookshelves and noticed it to be easier to get the sweet spot for sound stage with the bookshelves. Also cause the tweeter is slightly higher up on my stands than the towers. The Pinnacles really benefit when pulling away from the back wall and if I had the space to position better I would have went with the towers.. Still happy with either one at the end of the day though
Hey @cheapaudioman, I'm considering these speakers for the next upgrade. Is the video old enough yet that you can reveal what the "secret" prerelease amplifier was that these speakers really liked? Thanks!

Saturday speaker shootout. R700, t3’s, these speakers and maybe the lintons. 👍
now you're talking
Yes! We need this comparison to happen SOON! THANK YOU, IN ADVANCE
The R700s take it...with ease I would say.

Have you tried them with jazz or classical?
Closest to jazz was some Plini, Arch Echo and some Polyphia. Some sax with Shining. Great speakers overall, and even better (to me) paired with 2 SVS SB-1000 pro subs.
Now, of course, you must review the Emotiva T3+.
Great job, Randy! Always glad to watch your content. I’ve had brutal aluminum tweeters! Glad to hear these aren’t sibilant.

Just ordered svs prime center and prime pinnacle floor speakers. Pinnacles on outlet for $750 each in black ash.
I have the prime Pinnacle speakers they are excellent I have the whole system I have a 7 channel
Great review cheapaudioman. I am very happy with my Pinnacles
The Polk R700 is a similar price point. Another good 3 way tower speaker that does music and home theatre well is the CerwinVega! SL15. 🔈👍🏻
I love my SVS primes
Just an FYI, the Aiyima A07 is now $50 on Amazon ($64.99 and a $15 off coupon). The Aiyima A07 Pro is now available. It has Bluetooth and tone controls.
just got the jamo c97, i love them have a tube buffer and turned down the trebble on the eyeima products i have they sound great
Fletch!! The synth soundtrack in that film from Harold Faltermeyer is awesome. It’s close to Axel F, but better. That guy is awesome. So is Fletch. It’s all ball bearings these days.
OMG Siri, I have four of these in two separate rooms two pair in each room eight of them total in the pound concrete I love them
Thought it was great in filming that I saw the reflection of a leg on the glossy speaker while try to see if you had filmed the secret amp you were running the speakers on
Great content as usual. If I could just suggest something - show us more footage of actual speakers as you review it, not just pictures of it.
I just purchased these. We'll see! :-)
Wow these are actually for sale in Europe for about the same price as well.
Polk R700 Reserve is the best floor standing speaker in the $1000 (each) range.
I would have paired them with my SVS-SB16 Ultra if they had gone that route.
please review the Emotiva T 3 + and compare them with these pinnacles
Lots of competition in the 1 to 2k range - calling these the best? I wonder how these compare to the Polk Reserve R700's for MUCH less. Or the Emotiva T2+ for less or the T3+ for the same money.
[edit] Ah! Changed the video title to something more vague but still precocious. Perfect < Best? Either way, good work Randy. TBH I get that you have to put over the top language in video titles to drive engagement (Veritasium has a GREAT video on the topic) so I probably shouldn't have even commented on it. Ironically it worked - got me to comment.
The r700’s are about $400 more… unless on sale.
@@JohnSeitz true - i see i happened to find a sale price when i wrote that
"Come on! its all ball bearings now a days" Fletch as Gordon Liddy
It's all about the base.
Hahaha I love the way he say tweetA 😂
I'd like you to do a head-to-head-to-head with the Emotiva towers and LRS+. I know the LRS won't dig as deep in the bass department, but I wonder if the incredible Magnepan clarity will make up for that in your head.
I'd still like to get a pair of those and try them out
@@cheapaudioman Magnepans might well also be in the cards for me.
I prefer the Focals, I liked the SVS but Focals are the winner
I have a pair of ADS L880s with 10" woofers. I can't get used to the the thought of small woofers, even if there are multiples...
I am going to try the HSU CCB-8 if it sounds good will have 3 of them across . they are very easy to drive have a very large room so it help. Having 3 of the across solves a lot of issues center channel speakers have
they are also low on the price compared to most speakers
FLETCH! loved that movie!! Another good review!! 👌
They are like budget Dynaudiio. The sound profile of SVS mirrors the response you get from dynaudio towers.
cool. never heard a dynaudio
In that Price range acoustic energy beats everything.
Bass Robot for President 2024!!!
Nice. Always love a sunday review
Thank you
They are 6 ohm nominal and 90.2 dB sensitivity per audioholics. So, yes, easy to drive.
What amp would you recommend for this speaker?
How would you compare these to the Polk R700 and would Rega Elex-R at a conservative 70 watts be a good match for them?
Hmm, The Bass Robot.. ..
You blabbed out the new product of SITH Audio!!!
How do these compare to the Emotiva Airmotiv T3+
Thanks
I'm curious about the secret receiver that was used in this review. 🤔🤔
I would have gotten the Emotiva instead. Cheaper for about the same or better sound.
I would like to upgrade from old Infinity Primus 360 towers. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade for mostly home theater use?
I’m torn between this and ultra bookshelf. I will be having 2 pb2000 pros to pair, which one should i buy? The ultra bookshelf or this?
Thanks!
How about comparing this with polk R700 and Def tech D17s should be a good shoot out
How do these compare with the Revel F36. My local shop is selling the F36 for $1100 each
Hi Randy: Are you going to review the new Aiyima T9 PRO model any time soon? Quite a few changes from the T9.
How would you compare them to kef q950? Or even to q750? Struggling to find some information. 🙏
