Thanks for making the video. Informative as all hell for us noobies. 2 months into owning my low rider s and your video helped me figure out everything I needed to bars risers etc. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
The ST looks killer , love all the upgrades you did , i am six feet tall and would do the same , i have a 2011 Dyna street bob club style, similar mods and its shit ton of fun. Great job.
Thank you! Much appreciated. I was trying to keep the length as low as possible due to it was a lot of detail lol. I will be posting a short soon of a walk around so stay tuned.
Great Video. I just finished this on my 24 ST. Do you know why the security light could be staying on? The only other mods I have are LED signals with the moons MC LED tail light.
Thank you, much appreciated. For the light, I would make sure you have the correct gauge to year and if you used the gorilla cables, give them a call. They are amazing for helping and can probably tell you if it’s a cable connection or something. Enjoy and ride safe.
Video inspires me to do all the upgrades myself. It's only the brake and clutch lines that have me worried. Thank you for sharing and documenting. Do you mind sharing the total cost? 💰💰💰
Thank you, much appreciated! You can get the actual cost of parts from the links I provided, minus the cables and miscellaneous parts from the dealer. But, looking at about $1500.00 to $1700.00 in parts. If you had the dealer install it, you are looking at and additional 8 to 10 hours labor according to “the book” x whatever their rate is. Definitely worth doing yourself. The clutch is very easy, the brake cable just needs a process to minimize leakage and function afterwards. I tried to walk through each step to help make it easier. Ride safe and have fun.
I have a similar front set up on my 2020 Low Rider S. It is a sweet rider. I have a ST fairing to mount on later on. I am still enjoying my T fairing. The kept the stock gauges on the tank but have my Dyno Vision gauge mounted on top to read all my specs. It is so much more comfortable with that set up. I appreciate the tutorial video. ❤
Not pertaining to this video but did changing out the cylinders, pistons and rings cure the puking oil problem on the bike, got the same problem with my 2023 model, im running the same S&S breather you got.
Thanks for the question, yes, in my case it did. I did a closing video here: th-cam.com/video/TTmTUlU7Yio/w-d-xo.htmlsi=x3-p7Td9y1MBSPvj on the summary of events and what they found. Be sure to get that in to the dealer if not already and have them resolve it ASAP. It is NOT anything to do with the air cleaner and feel free to reference my video series on this issue (there are a few) if they give you any push back on it. There have been several comments on these with others experiencing the same issue on the LRST models for 2022 (and maybe newer). Hope it helps, ride safe!
WOW Thank you so much for the video, by far one of the most detailed install videos I've seen... I'm looking to install the same risers on my 2023 Low Rider S, and I'm looking to keep the same bars though. Do you have any other advice or suggestion before I order everything? Thank you kindly.🙂
I just completed this install on my ‘24 st with the help of your video. Thanks for that btw. I haven’t taken it out yet but I turned every on and everything appears to be functioning properly. My traction control indicator doesn’t seem to coming on. So I’ll have to look into that. But overall not too bad
Thx for this video! There is one thing i didnt like on my low rider st...the gauge..and now i know i can switch it:) But Dude, is the gauge you used the original from the low rider s? Thx!
thank so much you give us real mechanic class sir I'm buying parts to upgrade my risers I'm going to use Kraus risers 10inch on my lowrider st and fly moto handlebars my only concern is the bleeding front brakes because I see a other videos and the guy did everything n the bleeding pard but the brake won't brake it all and he have to send to Harley to fix for him so that's is my only concern . PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO TO HELP US HOW TO BLEADING CORRECTLY THE LOW RIDER ST THANKS
Thank you for the comments, much appreciated! I was concerned the same would happen, however, using the air bleeder that I did worked great and I had no issues. if you have a stuck ABS light, or something is not right, do not ride and have the dealer bleed them. Being that I only did the front brake calipers, it went just fine. Good luck and ride safe, gonna look awesome!
You can reverse bleed by pumping the fluid from the caliper up to the master cylinder just make sure you suck the fluid out of the bowl in the master cylinder so it doesn’t over flow and that way you don’t risk an air bubble getting to the abs system. Also make sure you don’t touch the brake lever while doing it otherwise it will pull air in and cause you to have to make an expensive trip to Harley for them to bleed the abs system
Thanks for the comment. I did not mention the dealership since my ABS functioned as designed when I bled them the way I did. I had no lights, no errors and both front and back operated as it should. "If" that is not the case on an install and the light stays on, then you are correct, you can go to the dealer and have them bleed the brakes on the machine which will actuate the ABS and flush the fluid through. I did not do a full brake bleed so I am guessing that is why mine worked after the install. Thanks again and ride safe.
I have the exact bar and riser set up pending install. I ordered the guerilla extensions in 9” because I was going use the thrashin 1” riser extensions. Now I’m having second thoughts about using the extensions because I feel like it might be TOO tall. Interested if you think the 9” extensions will be too long and I will have difficulty tucking them and if you think adding the 1” extension as I originally planned would’ve been too tall for you? Thanks!
Thanks for the question. I think it will depend on you and how everything fits with the seat and peg position for you. Mock up the risers with the extensions and see where you land. If good, press on. If too high, take the extensions off. You should be able to fit the 9 inch in there, but I would for sure take the tank off for ease of manipulation of the wires. Enjoy the work and have fun. It’s all about the experience for sure and I’m sure either will look great. Ride safe.
I have a 2020 fxbb and I’m 5,10 running a 13 inch fox mono shock in the rear if I run this exact same bar and gauge set up think I’ll be good right now I’m running lucky Dave’s lucky 13 which are 13 inch with same pull back t bar looking to switch to bar and riser
Thanks for the question. The wiring is not marked, but pretty much a one only connection. I took photos along the way so I knew what was where and taped the disconnected ones before I pulled anything to help stop confusing myself. Have fun, you’re gonna love it.
I bought all the parts to do the risers and bars, but the abs have me worried. I've never done brakes before. Did you drain the fluid completely from rhe calipers
Thanks for the question. The bleed made me a bit nervous as well, kinda indicated that in the video lol. Yes, I started by draining the master, then drained each of the front calipers. I showed how in the video and the pneumatic pump really helped (there are other cheaper tools if you don't have a compressor). Once done, reverse it and test. I had no error lights and the brakes and ABS worked just fine. If you do run in to an issue with the ABS, you can always run down to the dealer and have them re-bleed them on the machine. Ride safe.
Thanks for the info. My 22 does not have TC. Can you exchange it if not past the VIN lock? Not sure on the newer LR gauges and compatibility. Ride safe.
I’m looking to get some pull back risers as well with stock bars on the fxlrs. I’m 5’6” what size would you recommend? I don’t want to make the wrong choice
Thanks for the question. I would recommend measuring your riding position and the height from the bar base to where you want your arms to be. Generally, 6.5 to 9.5 will do, but everyone is different in body dimensions. That should give you the basics of what length risers to purchase to fit your goal. Hope that helps, ride safe.
Thank you! Much appreciated and yes it does indeed. You should be able to see what it looks like in the riding portion of the video. Enjoy and ride safe.
What length of cables will my wife need for her 9 1/2 and mid rise from thrashin. If you may know, i know spedo and Throttle is +6 but not sure on clutch and front break
I’m 6 ft 280 pounds I drive a street glide but would like a low rider st test drove it the mids are terrible would you say if I bought one and put forwards and bars on it it’s almost as comfortable as a touring model ? I just wanna be able to ride 50-100 mile days and not hurt haha great video btw
Thanks for the comments. As you mentioned, I did not like the fwd controls at all... My heritage was very comfortable, so I put the fwds on the low rider and loved it. It is a bit tough to compare a softail frame to a touring frame since they are different, and so is every person, but, I will say that the LRST with Heritage fwd controls is so much more comfortable for me. See if you can test ride a Heritage and that would give you a feeling of what it may feel like, minus a seat and bars that fit you of course. Ride Safe
Love the video! I wanna do the same on my Low Rider ST 22. Just a quick question. Do I need the specific Gauge from the Lowrider S or will any other analog Gauge from the 2020 up Softail work? For example the one from the FatBob. Just asking because the Lowrider S gauge is not available right now... Dealer couldnt give me an answer to that.
Thank you for the comments. I included the gauge you need to order from HD in the comments. The only difference will be if you have the RDRS option installed on the bike, I think 2023 and 2024 models. If you do, I would ask the dealer which one would work. Enjoy and ride safe.
Thanks for the question. The 2022 LRST did not come with traction control. It was offered on the 2023's I believe. If you have a 2023 and get the 2023 Low Rider S gauge (same premise) you should be fine. Your local dealer would be able to find you the part number and verify the gauge parameters for that model. Ride Safe
The gauge shows the digital readout for mph by default. Once the bike is turned on, if you press the odometer/trip reset button on the left handlebar controls and hold it, it should switch. I believe you have to hold it for several seconds, perhaps at least 10 seconds or more (from what I have read from those who have done so).
Thanks for the question. I would say probably not, they are pretty close to what is needed with the 9.5s so you would probably need to go up a size the the length to cover that extra inch or so. Best of luck.
Thanks for the question. I don’t remember off the top of my head but if you follow the links in the description all should have prices so you can total them up. Ride safe.
That seems odd if you ordered the same part number. Hmm. Verify your touting is good and if it is, contact the dealer and be sure they gave you the correct one. Hope it works out.
Thanks for the question. If by extensions you mean the risers, I wanted to raise the bars up to 10.5 inches height for a more comfortable riding position. You can use the stock bars, however, as noted in my video, they are bent a bit up and out which was uncomfortable to my wrists. The Thrashin bars have been great for me on a few bikes so I stick with what works for me. I am sure it will vary per person, but I love the result and the improved riding position. Ride safe
