Kinison reportedly said to no one in particular as his last words "why now?", then paused, asked "but why?", and after another pause, said "okay, okay, okay". It was the fall of 1988...I was 16 years old. I FINALLY got my own room after my brother went into the Navy. The first thing I did was buy new carpeting, a queen-size waterbed, and a two-cassette stereo with a CD player. The first CD I bought was "Have You Seen Me Lately". I would just lay on my bed after school and listen to that CD over and over again.
To say I miss those days...35 years ago....would be an extreme understatement. I'm now 51, and not a day goes by I don't think about those days.

@NinjaNovice but aad recordings sound tinny and are crap... a new turntable and good speakers would have served better and been cheaper. Also, only ~400k cd players were sold between 83 and 84 in the US and 88 was the first year cds surpassed record sales, so yeah, if you had one you either stupidly spent all your money on a format rife with issues at the start or were a rich kid.

I know you’ll lie to me and say you’re happy and have a family but save your words. I’ll never believe you. Just take my advice and find some pleasures in your day to day and stop daydreaming about the past. Yahshua Messiah's secret power was to set LOVE as your 'god', instead of old tribal deity figures. By setting LOVE itself as the primary focus of your life, you love LOVE with all your being, love all other beings, and Love yourself.
By following the teachings of Yahshua, average people can transform their normal lives into powerful lives filled with loving compassion, mindful mercy, and Joyful healing Empathy.
For this system to work correctly, both men and women must study, learn, and apply the teachings of Yahshua for true love fulfillment.

What a tragic yet amazingly profound story of the minutes before Sam died in a car accident on the way to his gig in Laughlin, Nevada. This happened right after his 5 day honeymoon in Hawaii : his best friend LaBove was with him as the following happened:
“Kinison appeared to have suffered no serious injuries, but within minutes he suddenly said to no one in particular, "I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die." LaBove later said, "it was as if he was having a conversation, talking to someone else, some unseen person." Then there was a pause as if Kinison was listening to the other person speak. Then he asked "But why?" and after another pause LaBove heard him clearly say: "Okay, okay, okay." LaBove said, "The last ‘okay’ was so soft and at peace ... Whatever voice was talking to him gave him the right answer and he just relaxed with it. He said it so sweet, like he was talking to someone he loved." Kinison then lost consciousness. Efforts to resuscitate him failed. Kinison died at the scene from internal injuries"

God bless Sam. They broke the mold when Sam left us. He was definitely one of kind comedian. Now you got to be careful what you say or make fun of. I wish things were the way they used to be. The 70s & 80s were the best of times this country will ever see. Music, comedy, movies you name it they were the best this country had to offer. It was fun while it lasted. Good memories back then, good memories.

I love Rodney Dangerfield. The guy was a genius. I laugh so hard my sides hurt and my face aches. Funniest comedians to walk the earth in my opinion. Sam Kinnison is so funny too... I remember when wild thing came out when I was still in high school and hearing that for the first time and my sister and me started laughing so hard. Funny guys. Even comedy sucks nowadays compared to these guys.

that dramatic mic holder drop at 1:28 is definitely in my top5 moments of any standup, as is the whole extended joke surrounding it and especially delivery. one of a kind, not to mention how he later became a singer too, with good music with some hilarious comedic inputs, quite a persona.
    rip, sam
