    Yea…I made the same comment on Richard’s video. It totally makes sense in theory. (And in practice…for him) But your average single person with no kids is not spending $250 at a restaurant on the first of the month. And, they certainly are not spending $500/month each on two cards on groceries. That’s just facts. So, again, makes sense in theory; and works for him. But not for everyone. That is a huge caveat that has to be mentioned. Great vid, BTW! 😊 I may actually consider Bilt now.

      @ghgilland 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, if he's getting 7,500 points per month on groceries, that's $1,500! Yikes that's a lot of spend! And totally...$250 at a Bilt restaurant (which doesn't exist in my city)?? That's one expensive meal. All in good fun though. Love trying to maximize things as much as possible. The Bilt status is totally worth working towards.

    • @IonicTechYT
      @IonicTechYT หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. But keep in mind some cities are more expensive than others. He’s in Boston. Not a cheap one at all. My family of just 2, in NY (not the city) easily requires $1000 in groceries. The $250 in food I can probably do too but there are no Bilt restaurants here which is a bummer. I’m curious though if using Uber eats or Grubhub to get groceries delivered will code as restaurant and give me 3x (or 6x on rent days).

      Currently 26 cities but when they land in a city, there are often many choices. The 2 cities I hit up are Boston and NYC where there are over 100 BILT Dining restaurants each. When I first acquired the BILT card back in Feb 2023, there were 5 cities.
      The video is intended to bring awareness to those who are able to take advantage of it. The cities currently in scope are heavily populated U.S. cities so I suspect that many are able to hop on the train if it works for them.

      Richard here. Hyatt is a transfer partner of BILT, but so far, a special rent day transfer boost hasn't been offered for Hyatt. That would be incredible. Last year, Hyatt Explorist status for 3months which was amazing for Hyatt loyalist.
      For me, it's Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Flying Blue that matters most but I'd have to take a hard look if a rent day bonus transfer to Hyatt surfaced.

  • @kfclovincat
    @kfclovincat หลายเดือนก่อน

    For the rent day multipliers, do you have to pay off your balance on the 1st or buy things on the 1st? Because he said that he schedules his catch-all spending to be on the 1st. I don't know if that means he buys everything on the first or he pays it all on the first. From my understanding though, you get the rent day multipliers if you buy things on the 1st.

    IMO the $25k non categorical spend is better spent on new card SUBs. Way more return than even the platinum bonus. There's also the lifestyle creep with tnr dining program

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Silver status requires 10K in spend which has been enjoying 100% rent day transfer boost. However, it really comes down to an individual's spend level AND are there new SUBs available to them? I'm currently working on 2 SUBs then I'll be back to running my 4X non-category spend strategy fully. I've already secured Silver status for 2025 but will certainly achieve Gold before the year is over.

  • @LuckyAces444
    @LuckyAces444 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    To be able to get 125% transfer bonus, you need to spend $25,000 to get to gold status. Do you use that card on everything on rent day to reach $25,000? Since rent is not counted toward status.

    • @Lijearion
      @Lijearion 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think he does. he puts everything that doesn't get a category bonus on there and pays it on the 1st. Things like pet insurance, car insurance, health insurance, renters insurance, subscription services, utilities, Internet, cable, movie tickets, etc. Might as well schedule car maintenance or doctor appointments on the 1st too!

      @@LijearionThe spend that normally made it to my 2X catch-all cards now goes here so I'm not losing value and it will also turn into 4.25X partner miles when I do transfer out. When not working on a SUB, all catch-all spend goes here.

      @RSquared-travel-rewards 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Steven27206 It is important for you to review the 5% categories regarding the Citi Custom Cash. Traditional grocery stores qualify for the 5% earnings. I personally use trader joes, wholefoods & stop and shop which are all traditional grocery stores. Costco, BJs etc fall into the wholesale clubs and discount superstores which categories are explicitly excluded. However, it is always best to review Citi's guidance directly before trying it. All I can share is my personal experience on what I know which currently works.

      Btw, rent not counting towards status is a very new thing that was announced going into 2024. Rent has always counted towards status, until now.
      Due to this, I’ll likely lose my gold membership now. Sucks. But maybe using it as my catch all card can help, the way Rsquare mentioned.

      Richard Deb here😂Even if you don't live in a BILT Dining city, it still works. Going to any regular restaurant on the 1st of the month will yield 6X. Blue status would turn that into 10.5X, Silver -> 12X, Gold -> 13.5X and Platinum -> 15X.
      Those multipliers still surpass any other transfer boost available with any other card/program. Don't sleep on the BILT card. It is broken down very carefully with real numbers in the original video.

      If I take the family out and spend $500 at 1 of my favorite 10X dining restaurants just 5 times in the entire year which totals $2,500 in spend. Then transfer just ONCE using let's say Gold status and that will yield 90K partner miles. I think it's worth it and it's a ton of fun along the way :). I agree, I rather not spend $200 every first day of the month plus have to spend $25,000 on non rent spend to then have the POTENTIAL of transferring my points with a 125% transfer bonus IF Bilt keeps doing these transfer bonuses and IF the transfer bonus is for the particular transfer partner needed for my travel at that time.
