That one excerpt about Erebus mentions the archdemons answering to a guy called the Nameless One, the absolute lord of hell. I'll bet he's the demonic voice we can hear throughout Doom 2016.
I always figured that the voice was the spider mastermind, who I assume has a similar rank to the hell priests and icon of sin (as they all seem to serve a similar function). Like basically everything else in hell, the mastermind is able to be revived after death, though its ritual seems to be far more complex than most demons'. However, unlike most, the mastermind seems to retain consciousness after death (or perhaps it regains a disembodied consciousness sometime after death), as the codex entry UAC REPORT FILE: RRN0R75J for the baalgar cyberdemon states that it was commanded by the mastermind any time the baalgar was alive and awake, despite the mastermind itself being technically dead. The voice that speaks to Olivia on occasion is also the same voice from the slayer's testaments, as well as a couple other points (like when the slayer enters hell for the first time and the voice says "he is here"). It made sense to me that the mastermind would be the one to speak to Olivia to, well, 'mastermind' the invasion, and then use her in its own revival ritual. I could be wrong though, I'm just a guy who overthinks everything.
What if the absolute lord of hell was something like in Greek mythology with the early gods where they weren't considered to be actual people but more like masses, and the spider mastermind is just a physical manifestation?
It’s funny, I had a theory on the demon cast system a while ago, even brew a little chart of all the demons from doom 2016, now I have the chance to find out how much was right, yet I can’t watch it because I’m avoiding spoilers, gonna have to come back to this one another time,
Borga I was essentially right, I saw the pinkies and cacodemons as war beasts akin to attack dogs, then iOS where above the possessed, he’ll knights above them then hell barons, then the cyberdemon, etc
This would make sense to have some form of structure for the demons in Doom. When we think about Olivia Pierce, she made a deal with a "ruler" of sorts, hinting at some form of structure. This would also help us understand if the Icon of Sin was a ruler, and explain a bit more of the lore for the Betrayer's backstory. It should also be noted that Erubus's design may either be inspired from the skeletons that the Slayer used the Crucible on in Doom 2016. One more sidenote is what Olivia turned into at the end of D. 16, the white metal on her design can be compared to Samuel Haden's robotic form, or the Khan Makyr's body. Small details like these may help us understand more about the story planned. Until then Wraith, be the end of those demons!
As far as I know, it was Deag Nilox who contacted Olivia (that page of Codex you can found before kill him said it if I remember well). The Icon of Sin was a creation made using the Betrayer's son as base and, taking into account the original's abillities (from Doom II) and the neccesity of consume the Earth trough the Blood Ritual , I think the Icon of Sin is like a living portal of immeasurable and godlike power, capable of devasting a planet summoning countless hordes of demons and finish the Blood Ritual all by itself, making our world part of Hell.

not sure if were going to get a 3rd game anytime soon. they have big plans for this one, and hey, they called it ETERNAL for a reason. personally I think they might reboot quake after this.
You got a good vid! One thing I think a lot of people forget tho, is there's different dimensions, and Hell is a parasitic dimension that expands and consumes other dimensions. In the OG Doom games, the slayer beat hell back and was stuck in the hell dimension as his own got consumed. In the 2016 game, he is found by another dimension and pulled into that one. The Cyber Demon in 2016 is a completely new demon type as you mentioned, but the Tyrants got their augmentations from the OG dooms dimensions, meaning the tyrants we rip and tear in Eternal is the OG cyberdemon from 1993 doom.
Often times the Antichrist is portrayed as beautiful or a savior to disguise their true intention. So what if khan Mayker actually turned out to be the antichrist but in disguise as an angel of some kind? It would explain why she appears to be siding with hell. And why she has a more technological appearance compared to the angel we see on the Lithograph the collectors edition comes with.
i dont think doom is going to use the literal terms of old christian/hebrew mythology, but yes, i feel like the khan makyr is dooms lucifer, a fallen angel that sided with hell. its kind of a neat plot twist that it seems like in doom the only heaven was created by the use of hells power itself, turning the classic mythology upside down. heaven itself is twisted and corrupt from its very beginnings, and in the end, all there is is hell, and the gun in your hands is the only salvation you get.

Cyberdemons in Doom 2 was just like this they was weaker in 2 then 1 as they was no longer a boss type demon. Just like 2016 Doom Eternal is following very close to OG doom as the Og doom games had the Bosses of one (Cyber demon and the spider mastermind) turned into weaker enemies in the sequel.

Perhaps something that not even the doomguy can't defeat, cause unlike the other demons, you can rip and tear something beyond physical reality.
Alex Ramey this is doom, not quake. I’m very much assuming the nameless one is a fallen makyr
I got the limited edition art book and I'm so excited lol
How was this so accurate?
Got a DOOM ad before the vid. Nice
SHOTS FIRED!! SHOTS FIRED!!!
I remember the city of Dis from Dante's Inferno, too... the game of course
I feel like that’s why they were always fighting in hell, not just for the Hell of it. I knew there was some sort of royalty, especially since there are Baron’s, so I’d figured there would be a class.(no pun intended btw)
The Summoner was annoying for me in Doom 2016. Not as annoying as the Promethean Watchers in Halo 4 on Legendary, but still annoying.
Great video. Very interesting topic.
Wait... demon’s Have royalty? So the Highest demons must have standards...
The Night sentinels also have a Royalty....
And as much as It seems I am being unnecessary...
*If you guys look up “Ask chill Jevil and Funtime sans”, you’ll find out that **3:58** in that vid is HERESY TO BOTH GROUPS!*
I thought I missed one of Roanoke Gaming's videos bcs of your thumbnail style and bcs of how your nick has "Gaming" in it. That'll do as well I guess, it's nb
I’d like to see the next game be set in the different regions of Hell with the Slayer hunting down all the arch demons and face the Dark Lord as the final boss, ending Hell’s tyranny once and for all. That would be so badass
Saved to watch it after playing doom.
Samuel Hayden says in doom eternal that the kahn maykr’s goal was to consume earth to power her own world with argent energy.
I panic attack the archvile with everything I have till it dies as if it was the beer flu
You do great at what you do man. Please keep it up!!! Never let the nay Sayers get to ya!! Thank you for all that you do!!
Just got the notification an hour ago...
*WAKE UP TH-cam*
I personally think that the ranking system in Hell should be how much bullets it can take before it dies.
The Archvile can be taken down with a few double-barrell shots up close.
I wish you'd include links to the videos you used, other than that great job!
Do regular pre-orders get the book, or is that for premium?
You should do a walkthrough of this game once it releases
I just hope we get 3rd person glory kills and unique deaths like in Doom 2016
2:50 what’s that stuff at the bottom middle of the screen about?
Freeplay Gaming Those are runes that are equipped.
All the boys from WarHammer be like “f#ck Erebus”
What is the song at the end of the vid? What's its name? Sounds pretty B-A.
Not sure. It's from IGN's glory kill video.
I just don’t get why they followed suit with Duke Nukem Forever, and named it “Eternal”
Makes me wonder if the 3rd will be titled Millennium...
