      @@robertrobertJ well being as spoiler free as possible, what's lost watching episode 1, 2 & 3 before episode 6?
      Thanks to the updated editions there are scenes and moments in episode 6 that use the people and locations of the prequels, without knowing who/where they are, it is useless to the viewer

    • @tiredoffools8929
      @tiredoffools8929 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@more-reasons6655 I can see your point about episode 6, but that is very minor, and I'd argue it would make you intrigued to view the prequels to find out what that was about. On the flip side, you have to remember, many people saw the original trilogy (4, 5, & 6) decades before the Prequels even existed, and when the prequels were finally made they had many "call-forwards" to the originals that would be absolutely useless to someone watching the Prequels first. Also, the surprises of the original trilogy, if you were not spoiled by pop culture, would most certainly be spoiled by watching (1, 2, 3).

    The Force isn't one particular power per person like a mutant ability. It's more like an energy field you can tap into to produce different effects with training. Think more like wizards that have a few spells. You'll learn a little bit more as you go but when someone first taps into it, it can often be mistaken for luck (like lucky shot, or lucky that guy missed me). Hope you're enjoying the journey!

      It's based on the idea that nothing important in Episode I isn't repeated in the other movies, so you can skip it. And as Episodes V was made with a "To be continued" ending where the characters all seem to think "How did we end up like this", it's a perfect place to watch Episodes II and III to explain that, and then return to the story with Episode VI.

      You mean like that stuffed Dewback that just sat there on a dune two hundred feet from the camera, not moving an inch? Yes, making them actually move like animals totally destroyed the charm there. Look, the Jabba scene didn't really work and we all know that Han shot Greedo without being shot at first, but the vast majority of the additional work done on the film made it look far better. The attack on the Death Star is hugely improved over the old version, where the fighters basically just moved in slow, straight lines.

    Hi Centane. I'm so glad you watched this, instead of continuing on with the prequels. When I was a kid, Star Wars did not exist. So, this movie came out. it was called "Star Wars." That's it. No numbers, no nothing. One movie. It's self-contained and it's a lot of fun. Please continue on with the next two, then you can jump back into the prequels if you like. But the thing is, there was no series of movies, it was just "Star Wars."
    I like the way you got the "bickering married couple" relationship between R2D2 and C3PO. Some reactors get all upset and scream, "Oh how rude, I hate him, he should stop complaining." Gee whiz. It's supposed to be funny, but some people just find a way to be upset about anything. I also like the way you morphed from your feelings about Han, saying he cares. He's not with the rebellion at first, and he has people out to kill him if he doesn't pay back a debt. Sure, he's a mercenary, but he's not evil.
    Wish you would've shown more of the ships. Did you know this entire movie was done with highly detailed models that had to be built? You know all those scenes in which they were going down a conduit. If you look at the how-they-did-it videos, you'll see a room-sized Death Star model on the floor, with a computer-controlled camera that was programmed to run along one of the conduits to simulate the pilot's eyes as he attempted to get close to the opening. (This version you saw was edited many years later with CGI animals and bots, but the original had no CGI.) Alas, some people like the cute stuff and don't really get into the ships, models, and technology. Oh well, different strokes. At least you smiled at the droids fighting.

      @@Steve_Blackwood Hi Steve. Yeah, the lines around the block. When that first destroyer comes in overhead, my jaw flew clean off my face. Holy crap! This is why I kind of complained a little to Centane about not showing it. Some of the reactors (well, face it, people in general, mostly romantic types) skip over that part and get right into the characters, which I find disappointing because that first scene brings you right into this new universe. As an aside, some of these reactors (character-driven and aren't-those-little-aliens-cute types) do the same when watching "Alien," skipping over the incredible Nostromo model. Have you noticed a lot of them start with, "Well, I dunno...we'll see...it was made way back in the 70's, so I'm not expecting much." Then their eyes light up when they see the magnificent work of the modelmakers (Greg Jein) and computer geniuses who designed the cameras to film the stuff (John Dykstra). Yeah, it holds up really well and, I think, looks better than a lot of the cheesy CGI today...not all, but a lot. Nice comment, Steve!

      @@christopheryochum3602 Yep, the Nostromo is another modeling masterpiece. And I hear the same 1970s reluctance from various rectors… which makes it so much more satisfying when they find out what they’ve been missing. 😏 While CGI is just now getting to near-immersive levels, it just doesn’t age as well as practical effects. The CGI Lucas added in the late 90s didn’t age NEARLY as well as the original effects. 🤷🏻‍♂️
