And yes, the ending was a bit dissapointing. But up to that very last bit, I enjoyed every second of it. I started playing the whole ME triology not having a clue what it was about or just how much of an impact it would make on me. I think I'm gonna go replay it now :)
@@kimescorcia real heroes, in the face an annihilation are not supposed to survive the battle. that's what makes them heroes. in my opinion the ending should have been everybody to die for their own homeworld. in the end they probably did, albeit not specifically shown, as the final battle was above/on earth. nobody was supposed to survive that. i am at peace with the ending. the whole trilogy is an emotional journey and if you play through all choices, sacrifices are made left and right to achieve that victory. i took me3 as an epilogue, not as more chapters that lead to that finale. we can only dream of what bioware would have made of it had ea not rushed it out like that. while the first 2 games are storytelling masterpieces, the 3rd is shepard's (and the team's) requiem. it's not meant to be played at high pace like the other ones, it's supposed to let you savour shepard's final adventure, line by line, tune by tune, sprinkled with a bit of action. in the end, one who looks at me3 as a failed story because shepard and the team don't make it out alive is missing the plot. the final emotion drawn from us, the players, is shepard's last breath after the credits. and what a fitting end to all of it...

This game is not just a game it's an emotion. The characters in it feel real. Everything about this is just perfect. No matter how many times we play the trilogy it always brings you chills.

To survive all that, I started a new ME1 playthrough in between. LOVE THIS SERIES.

if you only romance Ashley an if she dies but you only romanced her then you get this sad song with a photo of her instead of the romance. It makes for a really sad scene and ending, because by lore with out us players they are like the automatic couple since ME 1

I have played many games, read many books, watched countless movies and series. Some were bad, some were good, but nothing else then mass effect has made me feel something so strong. It’s a true masterpiece.
I vowed to myself when i finished the game i would make sure my kids will play this absolutely beautiful peice of art. The emotions that this game made you feel... the brotherhood, friendship, even love is just so amazing. Truly a peice of art that i will forever cherish.
Out of many games that I've played in my entire life, Mass Effect trilogy BLOWS away every other game by a long shot. It's got everything: drama, action, romance, story, choices, customization, MUSIC and a lot more. It made me feel emotions I never knew existed. Truly a masterpiece.

I have a life, a loving wife who cares for the elderly, many dogs and classic cars. Near on 2000 hours played on this game 1 through 3, its my release from designing hospitals and other critical infrastructure that if I get wrong I go to jail. Games are a stress relief and an escape and I am most grateful to all who worked so hard to create such amazing art, I wish I could thank you each and all, I wish you could see what your art does to an ordinary man, you are most loved.

This might play for all the romances in that final bed scene for everyone, but the fact that this is what tali sings to you in the citadel scene makes this her song and that coupled with the "Come back to me," makes this so heart breaking.
Someone once asked me why we millenials and all who are younger don't like to read anymore, why we igrnore so many of the greatest stories ever written. I told him that we don't just wan't to imagine/relive a set, finished story, but that we wan't to make our owns, and because we have the technology we sometimes have the chance and it's better than any Romeo&Juliet, Hamlet or whatever else you can think of. He didn't understand. Sometimes i wish i could imprint my memories and emotions of playing the ME series onto others so they can see how much that meant to me. I'd make them weep right there and then.
While I can understand that view, I'd recommend seeing a well done version of Hamlet. It's better than you might expect, and I guarantee the dialogue is better than anything in any video game, they just don't hire that level of writer.

He talks about the ME trilogy as if it was a masterpiece, but it has some of the worst writing around. The trilogy as a whole is a series of examples teaching how not to write a trilogy, or any story, for that matter. There are thousands of amazing novels, plays, etc. that are far superior to even the best stories in video games. While I love some gaming, and the interactivity is an entire pleasure in and of itself, in terms of stories, they don't hold a candle to quality fiction found in books.
I'm so HYPED Mass effect Legendary Collection is coming. Oh my god I am .... More excited than I was when I was a kid and got Mass Effect 2. Which was the first one I got. As soon as I beat it I begged my mom for the first one. She said no. I was sad for a long time. I actually forgot about it though. A few years later for my birthday she bought me the Citadel Edition. To this day I still have it on my shelf. It has it's own special spot from the rest of my ps3 games. I actually still haven't beaten 3. I played it and it was just so depressing. Then I played through the Shore Leave DLC and I thought "Oh wow, they knew they made this game too depressing. They added a comic relief DLC." Then Shepard spoke the last line for the final mission of the DLC and knowing how it ended it just hit so hard. I turned my playstation off right there and I have never played Mass Effect 3 again since then. True story.
How can one song fill me with so many emotions? This song, more than any other from the Mass Effect series, makes me think of all the adventures I've had in those incredible games, the bonds I've forged with so many incredible characters, and the sacrifices that had to be made fighting the Reapers. I'm not sure if you play video games but if you do, the Mass Effect trilogy is a must play. It's a universally acclaimed, highly influential game series with an incredible story telling and depth. There really isn't any other game series like it. The character depth and story telling is unparalleled.

@kardel sharpeye She is? I always thought, it is Ashley (male-shepard) or Kaidan (female-shepard) - because if you do not import ME1 character into ME2, one of them is the one you push into the rescue-port at the prologue. Liara as canon would be really nice!
@@MikeMorrinson I feel like the story naturally gravitates the most toward Liara - saving her in ME1 (and how integral she is to the plot of ME1), her recovering Shepard's body in the comic, helping her become the Shadow Broker in ME2, and bumping into her again on Mars in ME3 (and the time capsule scene) all point toward the idea of Liara being an important and even romantic part of Shepard's life. Liara also seems to be the most independently developed character (between each of the games) and her romance with Shepard has a ton of material that makes the other romances look less developed. That being said, Tali is a close contender for sure, considering she has even more screen time and shares many connections with Shepard as well. Like kardel sharpeye, I think that the Virmire survivor falls to the side compared to Liara/Tali because of how little screen time they had and how relatively unimportant they ended up being in the trilogy. It's like the Virmire survivor was a "starting romance option" but was narratively superseded by both Liara and Tali. If there were ever a movie or show adaptation of Mass Effect, I would be okay with either Liara or Tali (though leaning toward Liara personally). There's more than enough material to support either romance.
As I just finished the Legendary-Edition (my second playthrough after completing the original games one-time) I join the other comments: Yes, I also have the feeling Liara is meant to be the canon romance. In addition to all the other arguments, she seems for me to be the only person who simply cannot die until the very end. Even Garrus or Tali could happen to (Suicice Mission, Rannoch). Looking forward for the next ME-Game, as it seems they have to make some "choices" official there. But we will see...

I replayed all the games so many times and every single time I never want the end to come. It always makes me sad to see it all come to an end no matter who u save or who u love Shepard will always go away in the end.

I just finished the game for the first time and this music represents the void inside me after finishing the trilogy. Everything was so good. The characters, dialogs and the atmosphere in general were all amazingly well done. I'm a bit worried about the new game after what happened with DICE, it's EA after all, but I hope they bring back Shepard as the main character.

I have a life, a loving wife who cares for the elderly, many dogs and classic cars. Near on 2000 hours played on this game 1 through 3, its my release from designing hospitals and other critical infrastructure that if I get wrong I go to jail. Games are a stress relief and an escape and I am most grateful to all who worked so hard to create such amazing art, I wish I could thank you each and all, I wish you could see what your art does to an ordinary man, you are most loved.

This might play for all the romances in that final bed scene for everyone, but the fact that this is what tali sings to you in the citadel scene makes this her song and that coupled with the "Come back to me," makes this so heart breaking.
Someone once asked me why we millenials and all who are younger don't like to read anymore, why we igrnore so many of the greatest stories ever written.
I told him that we don't just wan't to imagine/relive a set, finished story, but that we wan't to make our owns, and because we have the technology we sometimes have the chance and it's better than any Romeo&Juliet, Hamlet or whatever else you can think of. He didn't understand.
Sometimes i wish i could imprint my memories and emotions of playing the ME series onto others so they can see how much that meant to me. I'd make them weep right there and then.
Except choices didn't matter..... And the ending was trash, and ME3 was auto-dialogue for most of it.

While I can understand that view, I'd recommend seeing a well done version of Hamlet. It's better than you might expect, and I guarantee the dialogue is better than anything in any video game, they just don't hire that level of writer.
@@SheyD78 But he's just talking about emotion, and this is one of the problems with the millenials and younger kids. They are all emotion, and little thought. He talks about the ME trilogy as if it was a masterpiece, but it has some of the worst writing around. The trilogy as a whole is a series of examples teaching how not to write a trilogy, or any story, for that matter.
There are thousands of amazing novels, plays, etc. that are far superior to even the best stories in video games. While I love some gaming, and the interactivity is an entire pleasure in and of itself, in terms of stories, they don't hold a candle to quality fiction found in books.

I'm so HYPED Mass effect Legendary Collection is coming. Oh my god I am .... More excited than I was when I was a kid and got Mass Effect 2. Which was the first one I got. As soon as I beat it I begged my mom for the first one. She said no. I was sad for a long time. I actually forgot about it though. A few years later for my birthday she bought me the Citadel Edition. To this day I still have it on my shelf. It has it's own special spot from the rest of my ps3 games.
I actually still haven't beaten 3. I played it and it was just so depressing. Then I played through the Shore Leave DLC and I thought "Oh wow, they knew they made this game too depressing. They added a comic relief DLC." Then Shepard spoke the last line for the final mission of the DLC and knowing how it ended it just hit so hard. I turned my playstation off right there and I have never played Mass Effect 3 again since then. True story.

How can one song fill me with so many emotions? This song, more than any other from the Mass Effect series, makes me think of all the adventures I've had in those incredible games, the bonds I've forged with so many incredible characters, and the sacrifices that had to be made fighting the Reapers.

I'm not sure if you play video games but if you do, the Mass Effect trilogy is a must play. It's a universally acclaimed, highly influential game series with an incredible story telling and depth. There really isn't any other game series like it. The character depth and story telling is unparalleled.

@kardel sharpeye She is? I always thought, it is Ashley (male-shepard) or Kaidan (female-shepard) - because if you do not import ME1 character into ME2, one of them is the one you push into the rescue-port at the prologue. Liara as canon would be really nice!
@@MikeMorrinson I feel like the story naturally gravitates the most toward Liara - saving her in ME1 (and how integral she is to the plot of ME1), her recovering Shepard's body in the comic, helping her become the Shadow Broker in ME2, and bumping into her again on Mars in ME3 (and the time capsule scene) all point toward the idea of Liara being an important and even romantic part of Shepard's life. Liara also seems to be the most independently developed character (between each of the games) and her romance with Shepard has a ton of material that makes the other romances look less developed. That being said, Tali is a close contender for sure, considering she has even more screen time and shares many connections with Shepard as well. Like kardel sharpeye, I think that the Virmire survivor falls to the side compared to Liara/Tali because of how little screen time they had and how relatively unimportant they ended up being in the trilogy. It's like the Virmire survivor was a "starting romance option" but was narratively superseded by both Liara and Tali.
If there were ever a movie or show adaptation of Mass Effect, I would be okay with either Liara or Tali (though leaning toward Liara personally). There's more than enough material to support either romance.
As I just finished the Legendary-Edition (my second playthrough after completing the original games one-time) I join the other comments: Yes, I also have the feeling Liara is meant to be the canon romance. In addition to all the other arguments, she seems for me to be the only person who simply cannot die until the very end. Even Garrus or Tali could happen to (Suicice Mission, Rannoch). Looking forward for the next ME-Game, as it seems they have to make some "choices" official there. But we will see...

I replayed all the games so many times and every single time I never want the end to come. It always makes me sad to see it all come to an end no matter who u save or who u love Shepard will always go away in the end.

I just finished the game for the first time and this music represents the void inside me after finishing the trilogy. Everything was so good. The characters, dialogs and the atmosphere in general were all amazingly well done.
I'm a bit worried about the new game after what happened with DICE, it's EA after all, but I hope they bring back Shepard as the main character.
