I don't know why they made Emily hate that Lorelai and Luke finally got together when in this scene she noticed they had hidden feelings for each other?
In a later episode in season 1 or 2, Emily asks about the two of them again and says something along the lines of “you guys like each other and when you date, I’m gonna have to ask you what the hell you’re thinking”. She notices that they love each other but that doesn’t mean that she thinks he’s right for Lorelai. Emily doesn’t prioritize love for her daughter. She thinks that status is much more important.
@@laurieepstein453 Agreed, and to make matters worse, Emily didn't even like Christopher herself. She said so directly to him. As well as the Rory connection, she only wanted Lorelai to get together with him because of his precious Hayden name (despite also not liking his parents either).
she was investigating and being nosey here but it doesn't mean she liked the idea. there is an episode later in season 1 where she presses lorelai further to say whether she has feelings for luke, and when lorelai says "i don't know... maybe", emily then replies something along the lines of- 'thank you for being honest with me, and now lets talk about what you could possibly be thinking!'
I love how "A Wonderful World" is played in the background while Emily & Lorelai have a moment:) So sweet! I knew there was some reason that song reminded of Gilmore Girls!lol
I think she knew it, but didn't know what to do about it. They flirted all the time. It was when someone was in Luke's life (Rachel, Nicole) and she thought she could lose him that her jealousy showed.
They flirted 24/7, they always had chemistry, Luke loved Lorelai but liked Nicole and Racheal, maybe he did love one of them but he loved Lorelai more sense episode one you could tell the chemistry was real

I remember Sookie once told Lorelai that Luke was waiting for her to decide to go out with him some day and he was mad because it seemed like she was dating every man in the world except him so then Lorelai spoke to Luke and said that she didn't have many people in her life to stay... I guess she knew about his intentions but didn't want to risk losing him if things didn't go as they expected...
Never again, in their entire relationship, did they embrace each other as passionately as they did here at the beginning of the first season. I think the rumors that the two actors did not like each other were true. By the end of season 4, there must have been a lot of conflict between them. I think they didn't write hotter scenes for them because they knew it would be difficult for them to play.
