Not only are you improving your water consumption but saving money by reducing your need for replacing damaged plumbing pieces. The iron and calcium love to attack faucets and such! Our last two homes have had their devoted water filtration areas in our basements. Then we have the final pass through Culligan tanks. Until we visit again....drink up!! 😋 ❤Momma G
When I had iron water; I just used Culligan. They had a filter cylinder for rent. They came out every month and changed it out. It was like $10 a month. It wasn’t a water softener just filtered the iron out for the whole house (12 rooms / 2 bath.
When I was growing up, my parents used a Culligan water system in our house because we had such hard water. I think I have almost everything needed for some fire cider. I need to get on that! Dinner looked so yummy!! God bless you all!
What you call a well, we call a bore in Australia. Mainly only people on acres of land have them. We have one, and all the houses around me are all on them as well. Our water Is fine and drinkable with no filters. Rain water doesn’t need to be filtered to go on the garden

I just got my card today with my extra moose soap sample. I was so surprised to get the goody. I never win anything. Love your family, and enjoy watching it all.
Dinner sounds and looks so good!!!! Thank you for another awesome video, and yes, you need to change filters sooner. See you next time and blessings to the whole family¡!!
Great video, love to see you and Aaron doing filter change with Wyatt, he is learning to do those necessary chores for the future. Love to see you doing all the things as a family! Dinner looks amazing and Kodie Anne popping in was so sweet! Adore your family!❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Jessica, just for your safety you might want to invest in a new cutting board. When the plastic ones start to stain that means the antibacterial coating has worn off. Without that the bacteria is harboring down inside the cutting board and can transfer to your food and make you sick.
I love seeing y’all using Meat Church. I’m a huge believer in their seasonings. The Honey Hog on Wings and topped off with the Texas Sugar.. my favorite!… well right now that is. But the Gospel rub is used daily in my household 😊 Blessings from TN❤ God Bless❤️
People may think that just because you're out in the country that you don't pay for water, but the maintenance on the well & filtration certainly does add up.
We grew up eating Horseradish Cheese sandwiches with my grandpa. Grated horseradish mixed with sharp white cheddar cheese to make a paste and then smear on bread. Delicious! Your fire cider looks so beautiful! The more potent, the better?! 😬
Great video today Jessica and Aaron. I learned a lot about water filters. Great info. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Dinner is going to be delicious. Enjoy. Hope to see you again soon. Take care from Cape Cod✌️🇺🇸💕
When I lived in Wasilla my landlord was a plumber so he changed it for me every 4 months, otherwise my white clothes looked rusty orange from the water. My socks always looked funny 😂 I'm going to try to follow your fire cider recipe ❤ ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Jessica, Aaron and sweet family! Wow, didn’t realize how much sediment was on the filters. Even if you changed them twice a year, that’s about $50.00 dollars a month not counting electricity for the well pump…but clean water is vital. What about the lake water, would it be to expensive to pump it from there or maybe not feasible. Fire cider has been around for decades and so many recipes too. I don’t know if my tummy could handle it. At least Aaron has the benefit from it. Your pork loin dinner turned out great and I’m sure was delicious. We used to kill hogs the day after Thanksgiving or when weather was right for hanging hams and smoking bacon. I always fried up a tenderloin and made homemade biscuits to feed everyone on hog killing day, it was kinda a tradition. Hope everyone has a very blessed day!
Lol hmmm I can eat pretzels any time. Like before breakfast or dinner or just as my lunch😂😂😂. The pork loin looked awesome. I'll have to try it with the bacon too. My family loves when I do half a loin in my crock pot with spices, tomato paste and BBQ sauce to make shredded pork sandwiches. Going to try broccoli slaw next time. Be Blessed
So that was interesting about watering your garden with well water. I am wondering if that is the problem with our raised beds in our garden. Nothing grows. Regular garden good but not the raised beds. Will look into rain water containment off the roofs of outbuildings. Nice tip. Now those pork loins looked great. I do not cook in my oven because of the mess it makes but good to know how well they come out in a pinch. 😄
I use make my own distilled water for my succulents and cactus in Florida. Leave jugs open for three days plus we have a filtration system. Never had fire cider. Is it good for back pain, neuropathy, and lewy body dementia? Dinner looks yummy!
Oh goodness what an ordeal to change your filters. You guys could use some shut off valves just before and after the filters so you don’t need to work so hard.
it's just water so no big deal . it cost me about 150 to have mine done I have it done as I can't get down under where it is n o ly have full use of 1 hand n only 2 fingers on other sooo n my hubby says just get it done .( plus if something wrong they can fix)
in wood stove or reg?? I wonder if it would taste lije he smoked it done in wood dtove?? Just curious. I can't remember my aunt would cook things on the woodside she's start in am n it would be done in late afternoon early evening n was so yummy but I don't remb if it had different taste
In your receipt of the cider, at the last you were talking about adding a half a cup of something for sweetness. What was that I did not get that? have been wanting to do this.
Oh we have done sooo many hogs we are well versed in raising them. We are so looking forward to doing it here. They are harder to get ahold of then the lower 48 lots of livestock is
@@modernhomesteadalaskaand they have to be fairly cold tolerant if you need to overwinter them. And you need to buy or raise enough feed…the list goes on and on.
Thank you! I find it to be normal life that we all take such good care of one another. And I know that’s not been the norm for so many, It makes it beautiful when everyone is giving then everyone is getting what they need.

That is one of my favorites!

Hello from pt McKenzie rd. Near KNik, Alaska sorry have a good night I’m going home now
Thank you for today’s video. I’ve been looking for pork loin recipes. I’ve never seen one like this. I’ll give it a try. Looks delicious.
I bet this improves the quality of your drinking water significantly!

Right I hope I didn’t say that rain water needs filtered! Because you are right it doesn’t

Put the date on a calendar to remind you the next 6 month to change your filters. For your health and there’s.
I'm going to have to do that!
I have been having some gut issues lately. Maybe I need to try this Whole 30, and reset everything. Dinner looked fabulous.
Yum! And good reminder on the filters , we have a whole house softener and we need to do that!! 😉😉
Love how you guys teach your kids to do stuff. It will help them in the future.
So true they don’t actually know they are learning most of the time but it’s made them super capable
Just real peeps❤
Amen!
Dice the onions and freeze or freezedry.

Everything looks very delicious
So glad you think so!
Thanks so much for the fire cider instructional.
LMBO at Kodie tattling on Aaron eating pretzels before dinner!
Sooo funny! They call those crack in a jar!
Thank you
You’re very welcome!
Don’t waste the pineapple peels- make tepeche! Good for what ails you when it’s fermented!
Looks yummy

Thanks for showing us how to make Fire cider.

Wow I’ll ask Aaron if he has that I think he would love it, found out in the fall it grows here I need to plant it for him
@modernhomesteadalaska You'll have to let us know if you try growing it. I've never planted it but should try it, too.
Kodie is funny telling on her daddy.
She is funny stuff
Great video as always ! Thank you for sharing! It’s only 2 degrees here in Ohio! See you soon ! ❄️☃️❄️

I think the filters for all the living things in the lake would be much more difficult but I don’t actually know .

Yes I learned to change 1/3 of the soil in raised beds with our water ever other year, when that was recommended I said I think I’ll not do that.
Hello from Lexington ky
Great video. ❤
Thank you

Would I like to be pulling up a chair at your table, looked great.Hope you enjoyed it.🌺🌺🥰
Did I miss what you added a 1/2 c per 1/2 gallon of were the liquid ended up in I didn’t hear

😊😊
It’s crazy how different water can be depending on the soil. I’m sure that was a very unwelcome surprise!
Oh yes it was!
I use make my own distilled water for my succulents and cactus in Florida. Leave jugs open for three days plus we have a filtration system. Never had fire cider. Is it good for back pain, neuropathy, and lewy body dementia? Dinner looks yummy!
I think it’s mostly cold and flu but no since I’m not trying it for other uses
We enjoy horseradish with roast beef
Nice!

Hi Jessica and Arron.
Hello
Looked yummy
It was! Thank s for watching
Watching you right now on TV you canning potatoes and your husband doing a brisket that I can not have because of the spices.
That’s nice! Thank you for being such a loyal viewer, hope you are reviving well after surgery
@modernhomesteadalaska yes ma'am
New to your page ❤
At our family cottage, we used a pump and used the lake water for the garden. Can't you do it ? Seems to me like the easiest way to get water.
We can, we got a pump we didn’t need to last year it rained so much
it's just water so no big deal . it cost me about 150 to have mine done I have it done as I can't get down under where it is n o ly have full use of 1 hand n only 2 fingers on other sooo n my hubby says just get it done .( plus if something wrong they can fix)
That makes sense, I understand why you have it done, and it's definitely worth it if it's not something you can safely do yourself!
❤❤❤
❤
in wood stove or reg?? I wonder if it would taste lije he smoked it done in wood dtove?? Just curious. I can't remember my aunt would cook things on the woodside she's start in am n it would be done in late afternoon early evening n was so yummy but I don't remb if it had different taste
Regular stove
In your receipt of the cider, at the last you were talking about adding a half a cup of something for sweetness. What was that I did not get that? have been wanting to do this.
Honey, you add honey to it.
I wonder, if you roughened up the surface of the citrus in the fire cider, could you get more benefit from the citrus oils? Hmmmm…
Not sure I know they vinegar takes it out but it might go faster that way
Id make pineapple salsa.
So yummy
Where do you you get the weights
Just Amazon, cheap ones, just make sure you know what size jar, look up fermentation weights
Hello friend !
Hello, welcome!
I have Cara Cara oranges will thst be OK n work?
Jessica, what size of jars did you put the Fire Cider in? I want to make some for my husband
1/2 gallon you could do like an old gallon jar though
1/2 gallon while fermenting or 1 gallon?
please tell me about your black stove, is it wood fired?
Yes it is! The heart of our home! It heats we cook it’s beautiful it’s in lost of video.
What is the fire cider for? Health? Cold/flu? Vitamins?
Yes yes and yes. Health cold flu and all the good stuff.
I keep looking for suggestions for something other than the spicy items in fire cider. I have a sensitive gut I need to baby. Any ideas?
No idea, it burned my belly so I didn’t take it then ended up being the one who got sick
does it have to be habenero?? can it be jal or serranos ( or no chili for lil kids)
No any chilis work
How do you keep your pipes in your house from freezing Jessica.
It’s heated, the whole house is heated
Pitty you did not cut the pineapple before you made the fire cider as pineapple is a great antioxidant and probably a little cheaper than the citrus.
Oh good point
I've gone back and watched 3 times and still can't get what your putting into the fire cider after it's done fermenting. 1/2 cup of what?😅
Honey,
It's says there one reply lol but it doesn't open
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Never tried it but I know people put the core of pineapple in there iced tea!
Oh yummy!!!
You need to go to Hollar Homestead and take their pig class?😉
Oh we have done sooo many hogs we are well versed in raising them. We are so looking forward to doing it here. They are harder to get ahold of then the lower 48 lots of livestock is
@@modernhomesteadalaskaand they have to be fairly cold tolerant if you need to overwinter them. And you need to buy or raise enough feed…the list goes on and on.
What is the diet you are on for gut health
I do whole 30
how much does he drink everyday?
He takes it as a shot
He wanted chunks.😮
10:00 You mean pungent?😆
Pungent!
Yes you know me so well lol
@@modernhomesteadalaska 😆
I see a pig in the future
We better I have been burned in them 2 years in a row, deposited $ and got nothing
You are so spoiled!!!
I would say loved. Everyone sure seems to pull their weight and help in this family.
