    Lol, Aaron you are a hoot. You had me laughing out loud. Jessica and Aaron, you both are the egg preservation team, great job. Now the baby chicks are going to keep you in eggs for the future. The dogs are so sweet and in a playful mood.
    Nothing smells like a rotten egg and Aaron says I’m out of here, lol.
    Have a blessed weekend my friends!

    I have been eating my eggs that water glassed December 2022 (18 months old). If you do not realize the egg was frozen when you put it in the bucket, you will know when you take out. I do my eggs in a 2.5 gallon bucket. When I opened the bucket it did stink but the eggs where still fine. a 2.5 gallon bucket holds about 60 eggs and I still have 3 more buckets downstairs.

    Great video and fun watching you open rotten eggs, it cracked me up. The only thing I do different on my freeze dried eggs is I powder them down. I just use my emulsion blender down in a wide mouth jar. You can fit more in the jar and it mixes up well.

    Fantastic video. I can't wait to hear how the pickled eggs turn out. I've started using cold refrigerated eggs and letting my freeze dryer do the freezing. It's so much easier to fill the trays while they sit in the freeze dryer and it really doesn't seem to add too much more time to the cycle. Thanks for another amazing video!

      @@modernhomesteadalaska I haven't had an issue at all. I put 18 eggs per tray. I empty my trays into a zip lock 2 gallon bag. They fit right down inside and make for easy transfer. I kind of smash them into a powder with my hands and then transfer into the mylar bags. Works like a charm!

    Egg must been bad when you water glassed it. So nice to see the chicks and that you made a safe place for them. I picked up two 4 months old hens today from Don the chicken man at polaris farms. I dont keep near the amount of chickens you do. I found the freeze drier to be the best way to store eggs long term. After watching your video I seen you rehydrate your freeze dried eggs, the eggs do better if you use hot/ boiling water instead of cold and same for other dairy products like sour cream prevents the granduals. I plan on giving the water glassed eggs I did in Sep scrambled and back to the chickens. Watching you open a bad egg reminded me to open each egg seperate bowl so not to lose the entire bowl of cracked eggs😊 Thank you for sharing

      @@modernhomesteadalaska the channel name is called Acres of Adventure Homestead and it’s his most recent post. I don’t know if it’s 100% accurate but I don’t think he would post it for the views since he had previously posted how amazing those rubber tubs are in the winter.

    I don’t have chickens but I still learned a lot from this video. Water glassing eggs seems problematic to me as apposed to freeze drying the eggs. One cracked egg can ruin the whole jar. I do understand that not everyone has access to a freeze dryer and water glassing is probably a more affordable, common method. I would like to do the taste test someday.

    • @modernhomesteadalaska
      @modernhomesteadalaska  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Totally agree. And water glass is great a few months from now you can have an over easy egg in winter. Can’t do that with the other methods

    2 cups white vinegar, 2 cups water, 1 cup sugar (more or less to your taste) 1 can beets. Heat to a simmer just to melt the sugar, then pour over your boiled eggs. Let sit at least a day or two before eating

  • @beverlyhendricks9456
    @beverlyhendricks9456 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Suggestion. After eggs are cooked. Drain the hot water off but leave the eggs in the pan. Then add a whole bunch of ice cubes on top of the eggs. Stir them once. The put a lid on the pan and have Erin shake the whole pan like a pan of paint. Take lid off and your egg shells will slip right off.

    Don't use washed eggs if you are going to water glass eggs. The best container is a crock/pickle crock. No light and store in a cool dark place.

    Unwashed eggs last longer than washed eggs. When you wash them you wash off a natural coating.

      That natural coating is called “ bloom” if I’m not mistaken. God put it there to keep bacteria from getting to the baby chick.
