Most of us in this community started by drinking Jack at parties and in the bar. It’s nice to see them putting in the effort to elevate and get us back. Great review
I actually drank a few Jack and Cokes back in the days before I decided to drink whiskey and water to save calories. At that point I discovered that I really enjoyed the actual flavor profile of Jack Daniel's. It wasn't long before I went from water and ice, to straight whiskey with one ice cube, to currently "neat" only. I think the 129.8 proof Jack Daniel's SBBP store pick I acquired convinced me that neat is the only way to enjoy fine whiskey.
I just snagged a bottle of 12 year at Binnys Chicago suburbs. $99.99. I had the option of Jack 12 year, weller 12 year, and Woodford Reserve Batch Proof. The whiskey guy at Binny’s said the Jack 12 is the best option. He said it’s fantastic and worth the price. The Woodford Reserve was $150 and he said it’s delicious, but $150 is steep. I have a weller 12 so I went with his recommendation of the Jack 12 👍
I heard about the JD 10. They say is really good. It makes no sense if people can't buy it because it is not available. I've also read that a better alternative is the JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof.
JD Fanboy!! I’m glad you had a great trip, love the contact. Jack Daniels, bringing it!! Excited. Happy they are making long overdue upgrades to their modern whiskey offerings.
Nice breakdown. I only saw one bottle of the 10 last year, and that was because it was $400 LOL! So basically I have no chance unless my cousin can score me one like he did with Coy Hill and the Single Malt Sherry. If that 12 really has Coy Hill flavors....... OHHH MYYY!!! Too bad it will be the same price as Coy Hill on secondary SMH
Picked up a bottle of the 12 today and looking forward to getting into it, gotta say though I question the bottle and label choice, it's a little lackluster when compared to the single barrel / coy hill ones
Those hot stores in the Dallas area today, stores opened at 10 am, by 10:10 they were flooding secondary pages for 200+ each... Damn secondary flippers are out of control. Maybe I'll get lucky and see one of them at some point..
So looking forward to hopefully getting both bottles ,With knowing the msrp it makes my purchasing decision easier ,as much as I love jack Daniels there is a limit to its value.
@@LeatherDaddy97 it’s all relative. I think you’d be absolutely ecstatic and call it a “score” if you found a Pappy 15 year for only double MSRP and not 10x like usual.
Do you know roughly how many barrels JD has set aside for these special releases? They seem so hard to find and I'm hopeful eventually the market will be flooded ...
They set aside a good amount but the flavors and the amount of angel's share really drives how many make it to the bottles so its hard to say for sure. But they are working on even higher ages to see what happens as the years go by.
Hard to get excited about a product I’ll never see. I didn’t see the 10 a single time on a shelf anywhere. This is just another bottle that will get swallowed up by VIPs and taters.
Just came back from Nashville. Saw the bottle and could not believe my eyes. This is by far one of the best whiskey's I have ever tasted and I have tasted a lot. It is truly one of a kind.
Last year I had seen the 10 yr at a duty free shop in Atlanta for $100 and didn't pick it up. I figured it's JD I'll see it all over. Nope, I messed that one up.
The barrel proof is amazing with a touch of water. Becoming a favorite of mine and hard to beat. Looking forward to finding the 12. Also, toured the Makers distillery a few months ago. I was blown away with their transparency too. Huge fan of them too.
I do contract work for a customer who owns a dozen or more liquor stores on the west coast. Back in the store rooms and, in particular, his main warehouse, I see all spirits, whether whiskey, tequila, scotch, everything, rare, limited, etc. They just sit there and to an untrained eye look like the thousands of other bottles. It's made me not care so much for the unicorns, they aren't that special. Some of them sit at the edge of the shelves and can easily get knocked over, the employees and even the owner don't seem too concerned. Maybe he's just seen too many for too many years. He's a millionaire many times over by the way. We build new walls, do demo, electrical, all kind of work on the stores and just a few feet away at times you might see 3 Staggs just sitting there, or any number of so called special bottles. It really is a reminder of how not special they actually are. That being said, he does list them at secondary when someone asks about buying one. I can get them at retail but what am I going to do when I already own close to 450 bottles already
You and Matt (ADHDwhiskey) posting the same video around the same time today....I was so torn who's to watch first I opened and commented the same in both without finishing either yet.
I still believe American Whisky distilleries are fleecing Americans on price. Bourbon chasers love chasing high price bourbons for the prestige of all these "limited releases" and store picks and driving up prices radically. Think about it. A 10-12 year old scotch that has more in depth flavor profiles, is imported while using barrels that they imported from America and then shipped back cost less than this whisky that you said comes in a 700ml bottle vs Scotches 750ml. It also uses corn that is heavily subsidized by the US government, uses local barrels, and does not have to be imported. Way to go Brown Foreman. American bourbon folks have just become taters. The 12 does sound nice, but that price seems too high when you compare it to other aged spirits. Not surprising I guess people paying over $180 for Blanton's or insane amounts from Pappy. I remember when you could get Henry McKenna 10 BIB for $30-$35 which seemed like a very fair price.
It's going to eventually unless the supply of 750s gets better. 700ml bottles are actually more available worldwide which is why some are shifting to that size. Less chances of a shortage.
@The Mash and Drum hmmm.....is there a commensurate reduction in price for 50ml less whiskey? Obviously on new releases we can't know, but I guess we'll see with existing product lines.
?If I don’t like fake banana candy … runts laffy taffy, circus peanuts. And I don’t like bananas flavor and smell in JD ol#7. Is this whiskey Not for me???

The Single Barrel Selects are always, ALWAYS great. I don't get why it doesn't get more hype, although I'm glad it doesn't.
Totally agree. Love the JD Sib Selects. And if it’s a store pick, even better.

Probably be a long time, if ever, until I see this where I live. I just watch for the stud on the screen. Looking jacked as always. Cheers, Jason
I just got a bottle of 12 year and am a little disappointed the bottle is only 700ml, shrinkflation?
12 year, I'm on it. Thanks Jason!
@Jason - In terms of flavor profile, any good alternative to JD12? 4R store picks, etc?
The 10 yr batch 1 sells on secondary and mark ups for around 300 to 400 dollars in CA.
Crazy
The 10 yr batch 3 is crazy good
Tx for the info/footnotes on JD, as usual.. nice touch. hoping to find a 12 yr 🥃

Nice video. Just sucks that I likely will never find one. Til then JDSBBP will have to do (they’re getting harder to find in my area too).
I'll be on the look out for both these bottles.
I torment myself watching these videos of whiskey I’ll never see. That being said, awesome video.
Awesome review! Thanks again Jason C!
Are the 10 and 12 better then JDSB BP?
The 12 could be depending on the person. The barrel proof has more punch but the 12 year is more layered in flavors.
Excellent review as usual!! I would’ve loved to hear your thoughts on the first master distiller for Jack.
Nice review Jason! I think the 12 sounds better! I’m four months into my journey and I really enjoy the 12 year pours like Knob Creek, ECBP, etc.
Hell yah! Definitely seeking the 12 year out.
Jack Daniel's 12 year, they made four bottles of it right? I almost saw one online for $500
Yeeeeah, I see that bernheim bp back there Jason c let’s goooo!

Its a custom label with the 1910-1920 blend.
