Real world battery life test please.
I will 👍🏻 It’s tricky because Windows usage metering ir for last 24h, and to do a more real life test I use a chronometer and start and stop when I stop using the laptop 😊
It has been quite a funny journey so far. When I first started using the Galaxy Book4 Edge (I am from Germany), all apps like Recall were preinstalled. However, after performing some updates, those features disappeared, and I experienced screen brightness control issues. Fortunately, these issues were resolved after subsequent updates, though poor single-core performance persisted. The latest update, which I installed yesterday, has finally fixed this issue as well.
I'm uploading a new video testing gaming... not good right now. With native ARM apps, everything is smooth and the laptop runs cool. But with heavy x86 apps... another story
Please do a post month review and see if the battery life depreciates and if the performance have increased after the release.
I’ll try to keep the laptop, but if the software continues to be unstable beyond acceptable conditions, I might return it, as it was an expensive laptop and it should work correctly 😊
@@InvisibleTechEnglish I think you should wait fort some updates. In my case the shift in performance after some updates was very extreme
Thank You for this. Good review :)
Thank you sir
Please post the gaming results!
I will 👍🏻 Although my finger is broken I’ll try to do my best 😅
No way the battery life is this short. I preordered it and it said its going to be 22 hrs+ maximum and 18 hours for wireless web. Samsung is scamming us.
Just under certain conditions :D I own the laptop myself and especially non arm apps drain lot of battery. Especially when installing apps like Whatsapp and doing longer phone calls :D
Just put on Airplane mode, turn brightness to 20% and play a locally stored video, you might get 22h hours, but who does all of that? :)
@@InvisibleTechEnglish Idk, its an ARM processor its supposed to balance performance and battery usage. Also, I'm pretty sure you have the 14" and it has it has like 4hrs less battery life. Thanks!
Please bring the gameplay!
I will 👍🏻
Seems like you're the first to post a Snapdragon X hands-on. Weird how no one else has done so when these Samsung laptops have been shipping already.
I think Samsung made a mistake shipping it to me early
@@InvisibleTechEnglish Not sure if it's a mistake, but you're not the only one who has received their GalaxyBook early. Additionally, there are also a lot of Geekbench entries from other Snapdragon X laptops, but I think those probably just come from reviewers (not sure why that doesn't violate the embargo, but whatever).
Yes, I saw some youtubers doing external hands on impressions. I did a Geekbench benchmark, but after doing it, I noticed that you need to change the power profile on the Samsung Seetings app. I did change it in the Windows settings, but it didn't have any effect.
@@InvisibleTechEnglish I guess the software being underbaked shows why Apple Silicon works so well. Too bad they ask a fortune for memory upgrades and Linux support is fully dependent on a small group of enthusiasts.
I ordered the Vivobook with the Snapdragon X Elite (78), because the hinge on my laptop broke. I am expecting all kinds of early-adopter issues, especially since I am planning to install Linux, but I didn't want to go out and spend money on another unexciting x86 laptop.
@@InvisibleTechEnglish Also have received the Galaxy Book4Ege 1week ago
I think they will roll out an update for Copilot once it officially starts shipping the Surface book
They won't - It was preinstalled on my GalaxyBook4 Edge and vanished after some updates. I think they have deleted it because of some security concerns
How can I check the samsung update? Is this update also done through windows update or should I update it manually? I got it in 28. Juni and battery does not even last 6 hours even I only watch videos, Could it be a hardware problem?
Hi! Updates come through Windows Update.
For the battery to last more, one important tip is that you open Samsung Settings app and choose efficient mode (discrete mode in my Spanish unit) and also choose a power profile in Windows Settings set to Balanced or battery efficient.
From my experience, I think Samsung Settings overrides Windows power settings.
Let me know if that fixes it
Are x86 apps that heavy? I hope its not because I preordered it 🥶
Steam and games are heavy apps. But other apps will run perfectly. As a rule of thumb, any app that requires high GPU usage, won't do well.
@@InvisibleTechEnglish You mean x86 and x64 apps aren't heavy?
@@thatsverysmart1535 I mean that this processor is powerful enough to handle X86 and X64 apps that do not require high GPU usage
need the VS Code test and comparison with apple M3!!
I don’t have a MacBook with M3, sorry 😥 Budget for a small TH-camr is limited
I think because of EU privacy laws and GDPR that Europe isn't getting things like Recall just yet.
I'm not sure that's related if it runs locally on the PC, it shouldn't interfere.
@@InvisibleTechEnglish Microsoft has a history of being sued and found guilty of privacy violations, further third parties have already shown how to easily access the SQL table storing all the recall metadata remotely.
Even the UKs Information commission office released a statement that they will investigate the recall feature especially as it was opt out not opt in when announced.
Personally, I do not trust Microsoft one bit.
Hi. I don't care about the benchmarks, but how is the everyday use? Does it feel fast when opening Settings and other apps? How does the non-ARM-optimized programs seem to work? Are they usable? What are the Samsung included aplications (the so called Galaxy AI)? Does the Copilot turn on if you chance your region to United States and language to English?
Settings and other native apps work great after the 2 firmware updates received.
Non ARM programs (x86) have issues, the system gets hotter and the fans start to blow, it is still soon for this.
There is no Galaxy AI nor Copilot for Windows present on European systems as of now.
I changed the region but downloading the US English package gives error.
copilot only for English Version! How's the battery????
The battery is great using native ARM apps
my s pen from s24 ultra no working on book 4 edge is any pen for the book 4 edge ?
No pen support 🥲
How many watts are being used in idle mode?
battery life just isn't good on this... and to prevent burn on oled disable desktop icon and auto hide menu bar or it WILL burn into the screen over time
Good suggestions. Battery life is tricky, right now I'm doing a thorough test that I will post. In summary, if you select battery optimized on samsung settings, the system stays cool and has great performance with native app. I'm currently at 7 hours of use and still 30% left.
Okay.
Would you buy it again after using it?
It’s still too soon to tell. I love the hardware, but the software is not stable enough yet
What application did you say was included for the screen recording that also showed the webcam while recording screen
It’s called Samsung screen recorder, I was really surprised with it
Who's moaning in the background at 5:52
Haha that’s my cat, 🐈 good catch!
Nice overview. I think this is going to end badly. The professional reviewers will decimate these products if they have the problems you experienced. There is too much hype. Google releasing Chrome for Windows 11 ARM is the best part of all this. Now I'm back to using my Yoga C630 with a Snapdragon 850 from 2019. Microsoft should have just launched the Surface with these chips and taken all the flack while the software matured for the OEMs. Launching all the models at the same time with platform issues is going to do a lot of damage. Also launching the CoPilot PC brand with the Snapdragon line when x86 CoPilot PCs are coming later this year may also damage interest in those. It seems like this laptop is quick running native apps but gets buggy when forced to emulate x86. This is where we have been with Windows on ARM since 2019. If the battery also goes into the tank while emulating x86, then there is no point for these to exist.
Great analysis. Today I received the second firmware update in 4 days. I will post update videos
PS3 emulation please if you can thanks
What software emulator should I use? I don’t have experience on emulation 😃
this is x180 and its slower. go for 84.
There is no tangible difference except for few digits in Geekbench, stop lying
@@pcgaming6906 true, not worth the upgrade
I don’t think that’s as important or critical. Let’s not forget this is a thin and light laptop, not a workstation.
If you are buying these laptops for high performance tasks, then I think it is not the right choice for now
There is a huge diffrence. There various results coming out. The maximuk 84 gone is around 15k on multicore and 2950 something on single core almost nearing to mp pro chip. @@pcgaming6906
@@InvisibleTechEnglishi already have a book 3 pro 360. Why would someone waste money if its not high performing? I think macbooks are thin and fast as well. As snapdragon marketed it as better than m2 pro it should be faster. My galaxy book heats alot and cant even put it on lap i was waiting for this machine thinking that thr heating will be gone and it will perform faster.
I do not trust that Samsung did the firmware on this properly. Lenovo will be better.
Maybe, to me it seems the same. But today I received the second firmware update in 4 days. Let’s see how it goes. I love the build quality and low weight, but I would have preferred Lenovo Oled screen + NVME SSD
@@InvisibleTechEnglish What do you like better about Lenovo's screen? Peak nits?
It has smaller bezels and more equal on all sides, also it's 0.5" bigger
@@InvisibleTechEnglish I see - what about text rendering? Is it better / worse?
