    A big thank you to Ridge.com for sponsoring this video! A while back, I made a trip to the Philippines and had an incredible time with good food, good drinks, and great friends (old and new). With all good things, they eventually come to an end and to be honest, I was dreading the journey back! I booked a 12 hour layover in Hong Kong assuming I was going to be able to explore the city; unfortunately circumstances prevented that.
    What to do with 12 hours confined to the Hong Kong Airport? Well, it'll be fun to explore and it turned out to be an adventure in the best possible way! ...an eating adventure.
    Thankfully with the specialty credit cards, the airport lounges were available and did I ever take advantage of their gracious services! Food, drinks, and a hot shower was in order!
    From the made to order wonton noodle soup, to a buffet comforting brisket and snacks, the 12 hours flew by putting one into a food coma... If the food didn't do it for your, then the cocktails, wines and beers certainly would have. A very enjoyable layover indeed.
    If you are interested in the American Express Credit Card that I use to access the lounges and to get 150,000 welcome bonus points, check out my referral link (Terms Apply):

    I had about 5 hours in Hong Kong airport about 20 years ago. I found it was a very comfortable place with great views out over the sea. I had come from Heathrow which was the pits. On one of the upper floors I found a collection of food outlets with everything from fast food to fine dining. I remember a good bowl of noodle soup. I did not have the luxury of lounge access but the seating was good and the views were spectacular.

    I flew from Chicago to HK and had a overnight layover. I had time to visit downtown for a few hours and when I returned to the airport I found one of the lounges. its sad when i can tell by your eye bags i knew you would bring up the bar right away lol. when i got to hong kong first thing i did was get some food and copious beer then i found out they had a SMOKING BOOTH. a lot of them! i whipped out a CIGAR . went back to get more beer. went and grabbed some snacks, one more beer, bathroom break (thank you tiger beer) then less than an hour before my flight to kuala lumpur (also amazing airport but no beer!) i went to the smoke pit to have ANOTHER cigar.

    12 hours layover is suck in airport except you can enjoy nice food in HK. By the way, are all duty free stores opened in HK airport? Their wine selections are great .

    Hi Tim,
    I'm really curious about your work. What kind of profession are you in that requires so much travel. You don't have to answer because of your privacy. Thanks for all your food videos...so enjoyable and always make me hungry. 👍👍

      Oh, no worries at all.. I work in the financial tech industry and lately it's been quite demanding with 80-100hr weeks. Really grateful to be able to connect with the TH-cam community here...it really means a lot😃

      Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it especially since you are working such long hours! You still have youth on your side! You deserve the breaks with all the good eats. I know it's not like that day to day so it's great when you can relax and splurge on nice meals and "share" the experiences with us. Take care and enjoy your life. I'm 81 and a big fan!! 🤗❤️👍👍

    Hi Tim, How many Coca-Cola shirts do you have and where did you get them all from?

    • @TimLeeLetsGo
      @TimLeeLetsGo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, I can't ask that about... I should have explained. It's not a very exciting explanation I'm afraid. There is a Coca-Cola store in Las Vegas where they were having a sale on their t-shirts 😃

    For long layover did u have to took you luggages out and checked in again? I’m going to have a layover for 9 hours there in Jan. And for the lounges there, is it possible for me to close my eyes about . Would they allow me to sleep there. Appreciate your answers in advance.😊

      It differs from every destination and airline, however I did not have to carry my checked luggage. Also, depending on which lounge you have, you do get either naps showers massage chairs or actual massages if you happen to be in Thailand

    How do you manage to get into all the lounges?

    • @TimLeeLetsGo
      @TimLeeLetsGo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use my credit card that allows for free access to a lot of the lounges. It is a perk that you end up paying for in their annual fees though...

    Hello Tim! Did you pay to access the shower facility at the plaza lounge? It will be my first time travelling alone with a 12+ hour layover in Hong Kong and would appreciate some good insights!

    • @TimLeeLetsGo
      @TimLeeLetsGo  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's kind of interesting, some of these lounges only allow you to access if you're on a business class or first class flight, others will let you access or will let you pay for them only if you have a certain type of credit card. I fall into the latter group and my credit card gives me access to these places without cost, others may not. Safe journey on your travels 🙂

      @Tim Lee may I ask what credit card you have that allowed access and how you're able to access the lounges in general. Just curious for future travels.😊

      @@TimLeeLetsGo I see! I do have a CC that allows me access to these lounges, but I guess I will just have to find out whether or not my card would cover for those amenities! Your video has been helpful and thank you so much for the reply! :)

      It's actually a very nice airport and there's so many places to eat there outside the lounges... I was really glad that the credit card I have had access to some of the lounges.. really helpful
