I had 8 hours in hong kong airport last week on my way home from Japan, i really like the airport, i did several laps of the terminal to get some excercise, the seats were comfy and there were greats food and shops, also its so clean! Ill definatley transit through there on my next trip it was a good airport.
Hi, if you have a 14-hour transit, I would recommend going out and exploring for a few hours if it is not an overnight layover. If going out of the airport is not possible, there is the Regal Airport hotel and I am pretty sure it is inside the airport. But it is good to check with the hotel first before booking. It might be a bit pricey since it is last minute. But other than that there are many lounges in the airport which offer resting area, shower and food at some price which in some occassions might be same as the hotel. So compare the prizes of the lounges and the hotel and see which one suits your budget. I would recommend Plaza lounge but there are many to choose from. I didn't go to any plaza or a hotel and I was able to find resting lounge chairs throughout the airport during my layover. It wasn't the most relaxing experience but it did save me a few bucks. So that is also an option. The airport is big and has many facilities. So see what suits you the best and my last recommendation would be to book the hotel asap if you decide to stay in a hotel. Last minute prices might get higher. Have a safe trip!
I actually have not used the shower at the airport. But I found this on the Hong Kong International Airport website www.hongkongairport.com/en/passenger-guide/airport-facilities-services/shower-facilities Looks like they have all the amenities needed. Also, it is free to use unless you need something from the vending machine. Hope this helps!
Avoid Hainan Airlines. They gave me bad directions to the gate causing me to miss the plane. Refused to reschedule or refund. Probably a good idea to avoid HK these days. Financing the CCP is not a good idea.
