As a Bengali myself, I cannot thank you enough Sir, for saying these true words about the Bengalis. Here, in Bengal, even the educated (of course, leftist) people think that Bengal's culture is only 500 years old, whereas all archeological evidences are left to rot or to get stolen. Thanks to the questioner as well for placing such a question on this forum.

The afghans destroyed lots of history when they came here and that is one of the reasons we don't get anything before then came.
Also a few days back an excavation has been made around Robert Clive's house. And many ancient things have been found some of them being potteries in gupta period and post gupta period. Which already dates back to around 1700 to 1800 yrs back. Now no one knows how many places have British did this. Chances are around many old monuments including churches. But now it's difficult because if ppl go in Church to do these half of the left eco system will come up saying Christians are not safe in this country.

On the other hand a Dasyu is someone who doesn't follow Dharma. Dravida is actually Travida which is a Samskrutam word meaning land surrounded by three oceans. (Tra means three and vida means ocean). I am an Indian bengali.
'Indian' is my name and 'Bengali' is my surname. Different types of people live in India. Bengali, Marathi, Bihari, Gujrati, Tamil, Punjabi, Hariyanvi, Rajputs, kashmiri, Assamese, Manipuri, Mizos, Nagas, Odias and many more. We are all like rivers that flow seperately but eventually meet in One place which is 'INDIA'. This is what our ancestors Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rabindranath Thakur, Sukhdev, Vallabhbhai Patel taught us. Jai Hind 🇮🇳 Vande matram 🇮🇳

Bengal was founded as Gaur in 600 CE ( time when bengali calendar starts) by Maharajdhiraj Sasanka Deva. Sasanka Deva came from RohtasGar in Magadh where he was a feudatory lord of Magadhraj Mahasenagupta. After death of Mahasenagupta in 605 CE, Mahadhiraj Sasanka Dev founded Gaur ( Bengal) and ruled till 636 CE. Bengal seen Pala and Sena dynasty. Pala dynasty was when buddhism spread to Tibet and Siam Desh(Thailand) from Bengal. During attack of Kannauj by ghaznavids and ghorids many hindu brahmin and nobles migrated to Bengal. Gaur, vikrampur, tamralipi were important places in Bengal during Sena dynasty. Islamic rule came with delhi sultanate in 14th century followed by Mughal and British rule. Abhijit is correct Bengalis are mix of all races just like any other Indians. Modern India owes a lot to the sacrifice and ranaissance of bengal which helped in independence of India. Bengalis are proud Indians.

One of my doubts: if Dravidian and Aryan are from same origin, then why two separate lines of languages in the form of Tamil (old) and Sanskrit came into being? Even though most of the alphabetic similarities are found in these two languages but still scripts look different and many of vowel treatments like ए or ओ are different. Example: "को" written in Hindi, is different in Tamil (it's more like Bengali "কো") or "के" in Hindi looks different in Bengali which is "কে"। Both the Bengali styles shown here are remarkably like Tamil. Of course, we know for some time back, Rulers from South India ruled Bengal just before Muslim invasion in Bengal. Typically, Dravidian skin color is darker than North Indian. And as for Bengalis it is mixture of both these two categories. Bengali alphabets are ditto of Sanskrit, except few vowel treatments, as mentioned above. Similarly, skin color too. Hence, I think Bengalis have influence of both these two groups, whether both these two groups (Dravidian and Aryan) are original inhabitants of this sub-continent or not.

India has different ethnicities, but for thousands of years people got along with each other. So, we can't divide between people of our subcontinent now. Even in small countries like Bangladesh, we see massive diversity. As many dynasties from different ethnic groups ruled over Bengal.
And you mentioned about high life standard in pre- Islamic era. But actually Bengal experienced more prosperity in Bengal Subah, which was an Islamic dynasty.
    That's from Wikipedia ~
Bengal Subah has been variously described the "Paradise of Nations"[7] and the "Golden Age of Bengal",[8][9] due to its inhabitants' living standards and real wages, which were among the highest in the world.[10] It alone accounted for 40% of Dutch imports from Asia.[11] The eastern part of Bengal was globally prominent in industries such as textile manufacturing and shipbuilding,[12] and it was a major exporter of silk and cotton textiles, steel, saltpeter, and agricultural and industrial produce in the world.[13] The region was also the basis of the Anglo-Bengal War.[14]

Assamese who are east asian looking they are actually from east asia like thailand, khemer, vietnam origin. They established kingdom there and thus mix with bengali people. It happens as the bengal and kalinga kingdom was actually dominanting culturally and economically to SE asian region and tibet. So people from both the sides have no problem to have kings from either side , as both having same cultural and religious values. Many bengali and kalinga and even southern traders sattles in SE asia by marrying a princess in these region and their ofsprings sometimes become king in mainlabd kingdoms. Shankaracharya introduced himself while debating with Mandan Mishra that he is dravid shishu ( son of Dravid ) which means he belongs to the land where three ocean meet.

There is a grammar sukta, I am told, I do not know since I am not a sanskrit scholar, from very well known sanskrit grammarians, that just like the exchange of Va and Ba, Vanga and banga, also takes place in NNa and Da. Dravina Bhoomi, the land of wealth becomes Dravida Bhoomi. That is said to be the origin of the word Dravid, from Dravina. It seems convincing to me, since all the gold mines and the diamond mines, before 1700CE, were in the Deccan, which itself is a corrupt islamization of the word Dakshin. When someone says I am from the Dravida Bhoomi, they mention they are from the south. Again and again in Varanasi, in orthodox religious circles, I have heard the use of the word, Pancha Dravida, including the south and Maharashtra.yes, Arya also means Noble, like Aryavarta. The use of the words Aryan and Dravidian by European Indologists, who did research in europe without even coming to india, has done a lot of harm to our land.

Some so called leftists and separatists have been trying to shape the idea that we Bengali people are not part of Vedic society... But in vain.

From the Vanaparva in Mahabharata, Pandavas came to a place called "ekachakra" in west bengal in Birbhum district. Birbhum is called Raarh bhumi as it has red soil.
Even Scriptures like Chaitanya Charitamrita, Chaitanya Mangala, Manasa Mangala gives the scenario of Bengal 532 years ago. Also Nabadwip in west bengal was an educational hub of Bengal and most prosperous state of India at that time.

Extremely superficial commentary, I am sorry to say. Could have welcome if given ref of books & publications in support. There are different ( divergent as well) schools of thought backed by serious research articles & circumstantial evidences in this topic. Anyway, people are free to put their opinion to any damn subject. Based on own level of learning the audience will accept or reject that.
