Most common questions I get ...
    1) "Doc, what BLOOD KETONE METER do you recommend?"
    ANSWER: FORACARE: bit.ly/2QKGmKG (Promo-code: Dr.Boz)
It's accurate and takes only ONE test-strip to get results. YES!!
    2) "Doc, what can I have while fasting?"
    Salt + water are best.
Pocket Salt: bit.ly/31ypeen (Promo code: DrBoz)
Salt Sucking Rocks: bit.ly/3bkpZMl (Promo code: DrBoz)
Sounds weird but it's strangely satisfying.
Black coffee - I prefer cold brew coffee.
Fasting tea. My favorite = Pique Tea Instant Crystals:
    Bergamot Black Tea: bit.ly/2T5Ej3d
Pique Teas have great flavor and the highest antioxidants possible. They
freeze dry their tea into crystals. Pique Tea acts like instant tea ... with
GREAT TASTE. Not bitter. Not moldy.
Ketones-In-A-Can is also a nice option during a fast. If you have to have
something, use ketones to strengthen your metabolism during your fast.
    Bone broth bit.ly/3asMa1G
    3) "Doc, how do you know if you're eating the right fat?"
Measure it. Your Red Blood Cells keep track of the fat you eat. The "skin"
of your red blood cells show the answer. Order the test and do it at
home. Mail it in for your results. No doctor's order needed.

I solved my IBS by Keto and IF. I was a childhood sufferer of high stress because of an emotionally abusive parent. I always had stomach aches as a child. This was never addressed by my mother. My gut bacteria is so much better now....I have lost weight and am working out without aches and pains and even have girly guns ( my arms are getting leanly muscular!)
I am 4.5 months into Keto and IF and am so grateful to you and Dr. Fung and others for all the wonderful life changing assistance in becoming healthier! ❤️❤️❤️ all the best to you!

Hi Doc! Always look forward to new vids, BUT, on a lot of your videos the volume is really really low, and you are a soft talker naturally, and this phone I do 99% of my internet on has a tiny speaker. Not complaining, but is there any way you can turn up the microphone sensitivity or whatever you are using to record or to process the videos? Usually though when you are chatting with the Type 1 lady (I think , forgot her name), the volume is great but on these videos I can barely hear ya even at max volume.

FYI Dr. Boz. Be careful recommending Chia Seeds. I found this story about needing to go to the ER!
"In a study presented at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meeting, a 39 year-old man ended up in the emergency room after eating a tablespoon of dry chia seeds, then drinking a glass of water. Shortly after taking this, he noticed he was not able to swallow anything, even his own saliva. In the emergency room, doctors performed an endoscopy to see what, if anything, was causing the issue. They found a mass of congealed chia seeds completely obstructing the man's esophagus."
Also, in another comment, I just started reading your book!😀

My step son has nf1. This disease has many side effects, but encopresis constipation has been the worst. I'm extremely analytical. I started keeping track of his diet after I realized that he wasn't drinking anywhere near the same amount of water as our other kids the same age. They would come and ask me to fill their cups with filtered water and I realized he would go an entire day and never touch his cup of water. After that I put his water in a large water bottle and marked lines between the measurements. I would set a timer on my phone and make him drink too the next line at every timer. We've done this for years. We changed his diet by adding fiber. We upped his fruits and veggies drastically and added in things like flax to spaghetti sauces or soup. We did get him pooping once a day with no more poop seepage for a about a week. We ended up having to use miralax for about a year. He's off of that now, but we notice that he's still not regular and not having full poops according to the Bristol poop chart. Last summer I started taking the kids on a nature trail 5 days a week every morning. The full length of the trail was about 10,000 steps. We would practice things they needed to memorize or learn on the trail, read the trail signs about the animals, and I had them doing arm exercises with 1 and 2lb weights for part of the trail... we all worked out. When we got to the half way point there were picnic tables and a shelter so we would skip, frog jump, jumping jacks, and some other simple workouts. He pooped every single day. We didn't even keep up on his water perfectly like we usually do and we didn't add any fiber into his diet. Activity seems to be a big help to constipation. However, on keto, doing all of this activity plus a 30 minute hiit 5 days a week...I still felt constipated.

I would test for IBS antibodies (IBSSmart), pancreatic insuficiency, Bile Acid Malabsorption 2 tests (mayo clinic). There is of course spinal issues like tethered cord which can cause constipation. People with EDS or spina bifida are more likely to have it and it does not always show on imaging, but there are others symptoms like constipation, pain when crossing legs etc. lower back pain.

I can't work out because of them and I wake up each night and every morning screaming from the intense cramps ...What can I do??...HELP!!

I was dealing with the same cramping issues with just the mag. and pot., adding calcium citrate did the trick for me. I only do the calcium citrate part for about a week, then stop and I always take vitamin K2 with it. Then I just take it if the cramps start again. Sometimes I can go a long time without it, maybe because I eat a lot of dairy. I learned the combination of those three from a video by Dr. Berg. He has helped me learn so much about what foods can help different issues.

mike c - I can answer that! LOL. I just learned about this recently from another fabulous internet doc. When you eat real food, it’s nutrient dense. Your body can and does fully digest this type of food and uses all the available nutrients so there is little to no waste. That is what poop is ... waste. So, if you eat five lbs of something good for you, your body throws a party and uses it all up. Yay for real food!

How much and how often should I ingest Chia seeds? I've been on keto for 1- 1/2 yrs and lost 80 lbs. I get occasional constipation and have to "push". At suggestion of doctor who treated me for diverticulitis, I eat a 1/2 cup of bran cereal (Fiber One) each morning with just enough whole milk to make it wet. I also sprinkle a teaspoon of Myralax on it. It would be nice to forego the cereal which has carbs and the Myralax.
Chia and swelling concerns me because of past diverticulitis episodes. How fast does it work? I'd like to experiment with small amounts because I don't want any surprises. I drive a school bus and there is no way I can stop at a local gas station, etc, plus there are no "facilities" on the bus. It would be a major embarrassment to have an accident. I'm 74 yr old and reasonably healthy. Loosing the 80 lbs has greatly improved my life. I'm not skinny and at 250, I hope to shed another 25+ lbs.

Fiber is a carbohydrate that your body can't digest, so it doesn't count toward the amount of carbs that can trigger an insulin response, which too much of can prevent your body from going into that ketosis state

I have Crohn's disease and no gall bladder...major calming of intestines since eating Keto and off all meds. However when I do 24-48 hour fast and begin eating again I have diarrhea about 30 minutes after first meal and diarrhea will continue for 3-4 hours. It's frustrating because I don't make it to the bathroom in time and am stuck for hours hanging out by the bathroom (literally!) until my bowels finally calm down. I always come off of fast with a small amount of food then work into my first meal but still doesn't help. Any suggestions? I don't want to give up my weekly fasting but I want to be able to leave the house after fast its over!! Thank you, Cindy

cindy gonzales, I am not an expert by any means but I’ve heard of people having the same trouble you are describing. One of the solutions they have found that helps them is to break their fast with a caloric drink like almond milk with heavy cream or something on that order and then wait 30 minutes before eating a small meal/snack. Then after another 30-45 minutes, they then resume their regular meals. It gives your body a chance to slowly wake up. I hope this helps you, your experience sounds dreadful.

I've been on Keto for almost a year; about 3 months ago I started to have very loose bowels first thing in the morning. I googled and thought it was called "dumping syndrome." The amount of info out there is overwhelming. I also just checked my labs online and my blood glucose and cholesterols are extremely high - yet have been eating little to no carbs. Have appt. with my doc next week; hope she doesn't want me to start on statins.

Yes!!! Horribly for me, unfortunately. Both Magnesium Citrate 150 mg, and Magnesium Bisglycinate 200mg cause diarrhea for me. I mean it's like taking a pee out of the wrong hole if you catch my drift. If you want to try it I'd suggest starting with a smaller dose if that is possible. The citrate version is known to cause diarrhea but I'd read that the Bisglycinate version was less likely but it didn't work for me. I'm going to start taking one every two or three days instead of every day and maybe I can find an equillibrium.

I can avoid going to the bathroom for a few days on keto, with all the butter and milked coffee. It's the vegetables that give the shits, particularly cabbage and especially sour cabbage soup with pork. The carbs in any vegetables are a real threat. I don't eat any veg to reserve carb budget for dairy, liver, peanut but, eggs.
