I bought one for one specific purpose, it fits my backpack very well and is easier to carry when I hike as opposed to a long gun and doesn't scare the tree huggers because they can't see it. Other than that, it doesn't see the light of day.
AK folding stocks take a lot of length off, a lot more than you might expect. If you're running plastic furniture with a triangle folder, the paratrooper spec, it's a surprisingly light gun. Lately, PSA also has AK-100 series pistols in 5.56 and 5.45 so you could also get one of those with a folding brace, and now you've got a pseudo Krink with almost no recoil
Same here man, only reason I got it was for backpacking. It's light, it uses the same ammo as my P320, and it fits well in my backpack. All I was looking for
My dad bought one close to 15 years ago and recently the plastic around the barrel/folding bits broke. He contacted Keltec and they fixed it no questions asked. Can't argue with that kind of warranty.
My range toy (MP7 at home)CMR30 busted a rail in the extruded aluminum upper receiver, they fixed it no questions asked too, good warranty policy with them
I had a similar issue with an RIA 9mm 1911. Took it to the range, and halfway through the first magazine, the safety fell off. Contacted the company. They sent me a shipping slip, paid for shipping both ways, and the warranty repair was free. Gun is great now!

The sub 2000 isn't that bad and has a hidden feature you missed, Brandon. When out of ammo, you can hold it by the barrel, and it makes an impressive putter.

I'm probably gonna get one of the S&W copycats, they just seem so much better. but I'm probably gonna end up putting it in some sort of survival kit in the truck as a SHTF gun.
Finally got my Gen2 SUB 2K9 & only a month left on the $100.00 Factory Rebate. Brand new with rebate $300.00! After 50 years of shooting and servicing my older firearms, this is a blast, and very affordable. I have KelTec Pistols for CC, for 15 years now, and they just never disappoint me! All of them field strip without tools, in seconds, blindfolded, lol! Being lightweight as they are, the .380 & 9mm can feel a bit snappy, but what sturdy little tools I can carry effortlessly, and still depend on their reliability. They even still offer parts & accessories for their discontinued models. My P3AT just turned 20 years old this year! Wish I could afford one of every model firearm they made/make! ( I am definitely one of the poor-boys, so laugh away)

Backpacking in the woods with a sub2000 that's pretty much this guns roll but he literally showed you all of its flaws. 9mm vs most rifle calibers will loose. it's not a combat weapon its not even a skirmish weapon its a backup for the backup. If you bought this as battle rifle you re broke/frugal (we will come back to that) crazy or stupid (see recent events), now owning a 9MM carbine with glock mag compatibility is a smart play but either to get a better gun or emergency backup. If shooting that gun gets you training then its a good gun but you missed the joke so bad you might want to see a doctor for vision, hearing and Orthopedist. (for that broken funny bone)

All the references to the "recent events" involving this gun are great. And yet done in such a way that unless you knew exactly what Brandon meant... you would have no idea of the reference he is making.
I always pictured it as a "behind the bench" gun. A gun to leave behind the seat in the cab of your truck that folds up so it doesn't take space away from the random tools, extra oil, baling wire and other things that find themselves back there. A "screw around" gun that's always at the ready if you meet up with buddies and end up wanting to take pot shots at something to pass the time.

I do own a Sub 2000 (not my primary), and I like it, but I like it for what it is; it's not a small rifle, it's a big pistol with a shoulder stock. I bought it because I wanted a Smith & Wesson M&P9, and a local shop had the Sub 2000s that took the M&P mags and made me a good deal on both. I keep the M&P in my truck console and the Sub 2000 folded and tucked behind the truck seat, just in case I have to shoot my way back to my gun safe.
As strange as Kel-Tec designs are, I gotta admit, I want them simply because they are such unique designs and are the perfect representation of Methed Up Florida Man gun designs. When I worked at the gun store, we had a regular customer who bought every Kel-Tec that came out but never for any specific purpose other than, and I quote "I think they're neat pieces of plastic."
I like it. It works, and it's accurate. I run a red dot on mine, and it hits. It's definitely not top shelf but it serves a purpose. S&W agreed enough to copy it sideways, and kel tec just dropped the gen3 with a twisting barrel and shroud. Nobody picks it over a 10.5" AR pistol or Draco with a brace. Great review. Everyone should own one of these. Why not.
You got to love KelTec. There is no logic filter to their designs. It’s like they just tell the designers to just go nuts, anything they can think of no matter how practical or aesthetically pleasing it is. It’s like they got the sequel doctor from the Key & Pele “Gremlins 2” sketch to give them design ideas.
Keltec is the Cobray of the 21st century, but with plastic instead of stamped steel. - Jank ass designs? check. - Ergonomics was last thought if they still had time? Check - Cheap? double check. - Hood-Rat Appeal? Check.

My brother sent me this video as my wife loves her Sub2k - I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it but for her it is golden, she is very accurate with it and loves how light it is
I did the same exact thing got it January 10th. Whatever you do don’t take it apart. It’s easy to get back together but parts wear out and get lost easy with just reassembling it.
As a german I would be glad to even own a KelTec Sub2000, because the only thing I can legally own here without paying a huge amount of money and time is a crossbow.

To legally buy a gun you would need to buy a license first to own which is a long wait then to travel to Mexico City and buy it there. No where else in the country could you legally buy a gun but in 1 city in the whole country.
As someone who has worked in a gun shop for many years, I can tell you that Kel Tec is good at making "Can I hold that?" guns. They don't sell for shit, but they are interesting enough to make people who see them ask, "Can I hold that?" and then hand them right back. The KSG is probably king of that in the shotgun world as well.
I own 3 of these. I have never had a malfunction in thousands of rounds. I have $1500 ars and have had many malfunctions. Sub 2000 is not expensive but is extremely reliable.

Living in Canada with tons of gun laws.. and the sub2000 does just what I need for a backpack gun, amazing accuracy and super reliable, loved the video, had me laughing soo much
People are talking shit, but a 9mm carbine is the best home defense weapon imo. Get two large mags and now you can get a shouldered carbine that wont drop the engine of a car across the street.
It is hilarious that the keltec sub 2000 was a meta weapon in payday 2 for a long time, to the point where it would one tap fully armored elite combat units and like 13 shots was enough to kill a dozer, who has a steel face shield, glass face shield, and a full bomb suit and helmet.

Well, say what you want but tactically makes a lot of sense. The same round effective in my taurus at 20 yards is now effective 175...150 yards and i didnt change cartridges... hence forth... stocking up on 1 round vs two or three...
As a keltec collector, this is spot on for the sub 2k. I love mine as a range toy or a nice option for fitting a long gun in a backpack. But I wouldn't keep it by my bed at night. Now one that I would actually like to see you play with is the PMR-30. I use mine for checking traps and even as a backup gun. 30 rounds of .22 mag really gives it the AM-180 vibes.
The PMR 30 is awesome! Thing is a fireball thrower. Perfect for smaller shooters too. 30 rounds of .22 mag ain't no joke. I call it The Nest of Hornets.
I spoke with a girl in college who used it as a backpack gun for hiking. It saved her from several unsavory types during her travels. It has a purpose, still a slightly better rifle then the mosin.
1. The Sub2000 is the epitome of "we have HK Slap at home" 2. My friend absolutely hates shooting my Sub2000 but it's still better than my Yeet Cannon 3. It is surprising the amount of mods for the Sub2000 there are. Loved the video even though it was about 6 months too late to stop me
I didn't necessarily love this gun but it fit in my backpack during college (we were allowed to cc). Being a broke college kid who wanted a light compact rifle that could be pretty accurate around campus without over penetration, it was perfect.
@slav4335 I didn't want a short barrel. My campus had a lot of separated buildings. I didn't want to have to engage 100 yards away with a pistol. It was going to be in my backpack anyways since I didn't carry on my body while at class.
Definitely one of the guns in my collection. I think I've spent more on mods from MCARBO than the initial gun purchase. The metal trigger and trigger guard made this actually shootable for me; I hated it before them. It's one of the mopeds of the gun world. Fun to ride occasionally, but you don't really want your friends seeing you do it.
I have not purchased this yet, but so far my experience with KelTec is that they have an incredibly awesome customer service and tech support departments, if you ever need them. No hassle. They really take care of their customers and thats what you want from a gun manufacturer.
I just got 2 keltec p17s one for me and one for my 8 year old nephew , he loves going to the range gotta teach them young and I absolutely admire the fact that keltec is stepping out of the comfort zone and making these wonky looking firearms
This is my wife's favorite gun. She's 5'2" and barely over 100 lbs. Weight and recoil are perfect for her. Wouldn't be my first choice, but it's great for what it is ... Which is being one of the most guns ever made.
Dude same and than the worker at my lgs goes I have one, I love it, but if you get it here is the list of aftermarket parts you need and I'm like oh, one or two parts it was like 5 to 10 parts
as a sub 2k owner it is one of the guns ever made... popular enough that people buy it, shitty enough for an aftermarket to exist to fix its problems, just like the pistol this one shares mags with. I'm honestly surprised he didn't mention the horrendous trigger, because it already has a bunch of creep, but then it also bends because of the beach plastic.
@@andrewschulze3865 I think that's part of Kel-Tec's marketing strategy: get people's attention with nifty, unique designs, get their money with cheap prices, then let them make the gun better on their own time and dime. I mean, let's face it, the SUB-2K's main competition is Hi-Point carbines, so you can't let the MSRP go _too_ high.
As someone who owns one of these guns its fun just for plinking around on the range. With a red dot and the two finger charging handle on it and it just makes it easier to handle. But everything Brandon says is totally true and I wouldn’t dare use this gun for anything other than a fun day at the range. (I never fold it completely because it just stays in a range box)
@@teddyfartypants idk about home defense, the extra energy is nice but compared to a pistol, in close quarters a regular pistol might work a bit better. However it is a fun little gun, and cheap! I bought mine for $350 and ammo, well it’s 9mm. So for me it’s a great plinker

When I did security work, I carried a glock 17, so I grabbed a sub2k for just in case SHTF couldn't carry a rifle but it served its purpose for a backpack gun, currently in my bug out bag. So far, it's a good range toy and hasn't had any misfires out of maybe 5k rds.
Okay, I'll admit it. I have one. But I also have a crap ton of other "stuff". I bought mine for a few reasons but mostly a combination of it's compactness and the fact it's fun to shoot, ie.....it's a toy. I do like the fact that it's easily fit into a small back pack and I can take it nearly everywhere, since where I live I can't have handguns or AR style pistols, so on that note it fills a need. Still, I couldn't help laughing at Brandon's mockery of the gun and his perspective on the people that own them. Great video
personally I like to imagine that the engineers ran a stress simulation, saw the CAD model snap in half after they accidentally added an extra zero to the amount of force applied, and decided it was a feature
I like my sub2k. Its just something i stick on the side of my backpack when i go camping or hiking. So far it has taken down a rabid raccoon, a snake of indeterminate species, and a coyote that was getting aggressive with my dog. Not exactly the greatest of threats, but exactly what i anticipated using it for. I spent a bit more for some mods from MCarbo and it helped the shooting comfort quite a bit.
I have had mine for five years. It is a good travel gun. Fit's in my laptop bag with my Glock 17. Keep two 17 rd and two 33 rd mags in there too. It is fun to shoot; can hit a 4" AR500 disk from 150 yards.
Some deputies in Brevard county here in Florida were issued these for potential better response times for active shooters in schools. They actually have it integrated into their front vest/carrier in the folded position.
I think KelTec is actually a pretty cool company. They think outside the box, their stuff does work. This isn't meant to be a primary combat arm for anyone, unless they value compact concealability over outright performance, like a gun to keep in the cab of your truck. A PCC is always a useful gun for many things, and it's always going to beat just a pistol alone. If you can't easily have an AR with you, this is still better than no rifle. I admire this gun for what it is. I think they did a good job with it. It it doesn't look half bad if you like that tactical look.
If you pick up some parts from MCARBO you can really make the Sub2K a nice shooting gun. They pretty much have a part that fixes a majority of the issues it has. It’s never gonna be a firearm to use as your Main Weapon, but it definitely makes it much more enjoyable to shoot.
The plastic oem trigger has to go. ASAP. Start there at a minimum but yes, MCarbo and some other companies have developed a healthy aftermarket for the Sub2K. Of course when your done you've pretty much doubled your investment into it.
@tampabayspearfishing5297 it makes it decent. But the mcarbo parts should come stock. Plastic feed ramp? Plastic trigger? Plastic trigger rail guide? I'd rather pay a bit more for a decent gun out of the box instead of playing pretend gunsmith
@@LloydfromCanada you can buy the full upgraded mcarbo version from mcarbo,I got my sub2k for 300 pre covid with a box of ammo,I think I got over $600 with the folding optic mount and mcarbo upgrades lol. I got every single mcarbo upgrades over a few months cause I just couldn't pay that much at once when it was more than the rifle. But it made a big difference. Edit,over $600 in just the upgrades not total lol. The optic mount is or was at the time $150 alone
I had a 9mm gen 2. It fits under a car seat in a suitcase, takes 30rd glock mags, has better range than a pistol, and doesn't choke on hollows. It's not that bad. Plus i got it for 380 and sold it with a case and 2 mags for 900 during a shortage lol.
I prefer my Ruger PC Carbine. Still very packable as the barrel literally comes right off with a simple twist and pull. Ruger just makes a better quality gun.
Meanwhile the one person to use it for bad stuff got folded harder than the gun itself... I had another fucked up joke I refuse to make, the intrusive thoughts wont win this time.
When all of the riots started all over the country where people were being attacked for no reason, I started carrying mine in my backpack. It's a great way to have a rifle in situations where carrying a rifle is impossible or draws unwanted attention. It takes up so little room and is so light that I never bothered to take it out of my backpack. There was a TH-camr years ago that made his own on a mill out of steel and aluminum. That one seemed really nice.
That's the thing most people don't factor in when they shit on the Sub2k. Should it be anyone's first choice rifle? No, probably not. Is it the best choice? Sometimes. Obviously a proper rifle would be preferable, but you can't always have an AR or AK with you, and in those situations where your choices are plastic foldy rifle or no rifle, the foldy rifle wins every time. A sub2k in your backpack is always more effective than an AR in your safe.

The weapon I wanted to carry with me while the riots were going on was the AR-9 8 inch pistol I built, but that would not fit in a backpack so I would have had to of left it in my car. If I wanted to increase the carryability of the weapon, I had to give up some things. Hell, I carry a Glock 43, but if I were ever in a gun fight I'd prefer my Glock 23, but I give up having the better gun for carryability and concealability. Because I'm not going to war when I leave the house. I'm going to go about my normal day. Work, shop, etc.
In Canada, where we can’t have ARs or AR “types”, the Sub2k multi-mag is one of very few if not the only PCCs that runs P320 mags. That’s the main reason I have mine. Also, get the M-Carbo upgrades. Mine runs great!
So at first I thought was in poor taste due to the recent shooting involving this, but I gave it more thought, and realized this will help people understand what the situation had involved firearms wise. Keep up the good work Brandon.

I love the sub 2000. Compact, uses cheap common ammo, basic without parts that will be more delicate... It's not competing with full size rifles. It's a great little rifle.
Bought the gun to take to the range and have some fun to shoot with and it fits in my large pistol case along with a handgun - not to get in a shootout with some gangsters or home defense - my Keltec 12 gauge KS7 shotgun paired with my Glock G19 9mm handgun are more than enough to ward off any intruders. Not planning on going into a shootout against any AR's anytime soon but my PLR16 will definitely take them by surprise if that were to ever happen which I doubt - anyway I appreciate your open honest presentation. I've got the Gen 3 Sub2000 with rotating folding barrel with Sig Romeo5 Red dot - it folds up ez pz. This gun fills a niche but I agree it should not be your primary fighting or hunting rifle.
I owned a Keltec a while ago, it served me pretty good as a swamp walk gun. I wasn’t doing anything crazy with it, but it did die a death after forgetting to double check the barrel after unfolding it. A foamy ear plug found it’s way inside and blew the barrel in half. RIP Foldy Boi of 2013 Ps. I indeed was poor boi. Bought it for $120 at a gun show
@@CrazyKingJammy It created a tight seal around the bullet is my guess. Most gun have some gas get past the bullet. You can see it happen in high speed footage.

As a young person I do know FPS Russia and he is truly one of the channels of all time also the video with the big ass machine gun is probably still one of the best videos on his channels

Trying to coax the shy young'un away from her underpowered 22-pew-pew, my dear sweet mother took out her 9mm Sub2000 to demonstrate the carbine's competence. She tried to work around its awkward iron sighting... It socked her in the face. Gave her a shiner that made it look like we were in a 90's after-school special. Dad could've been carted off with a word and a nasty look from the police. Goddamn it, Keltec, you had ONE job...
I bought one (in .40 S&W) that takes the same magazines as my M&P .40 my agency gave me when I retired. In its stock form, you're correct. It's downright awkward and uncomfortable to shoot for very long. Adding a few well designed aftermarket parts makes it much better. I know it's not an AR/AK full on battle rifle but for a compact, folding, versatile, EDC, backpack, truck gun.... it serves MY purposes quite well. The addition of a red dot, you can get your cheek up a little off of the bolt tube and shoot decent groups at 50 yards. Some of us have hit steel at 100 yards with these things.

Pistols aren't as easy to use as a carbine in any regard.

I had a similar issue with an RIA 9mm 1911. Took it to the range, and halfway through the first magazine, the safety fell off. Contacted the company. They sent me a shipping slip, paid for shipping both ways, and the warranty repair was free. Gun is great now!

Brand new with rebate $300.00! After 50 years of shooting and servicing my older firearms, this is a blast, and very affordable. I have KelTec Pistols for CC, for 15 years now, and they just never disappoint me! All of them field strip without tools, in seconds, blindfolded, lol! Being lightweight as they are, the .380 & 9mm can feel a bit snappy, but what sturdy little tools I can carry effortlessly, and still depend on their reliability. They even still offer parts & accessories for their discontinued models. My P3AT just turned 20 years old this year! Wish I could afford one of every model firearm they made/make! ( I am definitely one of the poor-boys, so laugh away)

Backpacking in the woods with a sub2000 that's pretty much this guns roll but he literally showed you all of its flaws. 9mm vs most rifle calibers will loose. it's not a combat weapon its not even a skirmish weapon its a backup for the backup. If you bought this as battle rifle you re broke/frugal (we will come back to that) crazy or stupid (see recent events), now owning a 9MM carbine with glock mag compatibility is a smart play but either to get a better gun or emergency backup. If shooting that gun gets you training then its a good gun but you missed the joke so bad you might want to see a doctor for vision, hearing and Orthopedist. (for that broken funny bone)
It's not a great gun, but I'll never stop giving props to KelTech for always trying to innovate. Not a lot of gun makers try new designs anymore.

I always pictured it as a "behind the bench" gun. A gun to leave behind the seat in the cab of your truck that folds up so it doesn't take space away from the random tools, extra oil, baling wire and other things that find themselves back there. A "screw around" gun that's always at the ready if you meet up with buddies and end up wanting to take pot shots at something to pass the time.
I would never leave it behind the back seat in the cab, otherwise the illegal immigrants being smuggled back there would have access to it. 😂

I do own a Sub 2000 (not my primary), and I like it, but I like it for what it is; it's not a small rifle, it's a big pistol with a shoulder stock. I bought it because I wanted a Smith & Wesson M&P9, and a local shop had the Sub 2000s that took the M&P mags and made me a good deal on both.
I keep the M&P in my truck console and the Sub 2000 folded and tucked behind the truck seat, just in case I have to shoot my way back to my gun safe.
As strange as Kel-Tec designs are, I gotta admit, I want them simply because they are such unique designs and are the perfect representation of Methed Up Florida Man gun designs. When I worked at the gun store, we had a regular customer who bought every Kel-Tec that came out but never for any specific purpose other than, and I quote "I think they're neat pieces of plastic."
They're fun and goofy kinda remind me of stuff like the calico. I have a buddy who has the 308 bullpup. It's pretty much a novelty company.
Despite his low opinion the sub2000 is actually a good gun for what it is. I have one and it works well.

I like it. It works, and it's accurate. I run a red dot on mine, and it hits. It's definitely not top shelf but it serves a purpose.
S&W agreed enough to copy it sideways, and kel tec just dropped the gen3 with a twisting barrel and shroud. Nobody picks it over a 10.5" AR pistol or Draco with a brace. Great review. Everyone should own one of these. Why not.
You got to love KelTec. There is no logic filter to their designs. It’s like they just tell the designers to just go nuts, anything they can think of no matter how practical or aesthetically pleasing it is. It’s like they got the sequel doctor from the Key & Pele “Gremlins 2” sketch to give them design ideas.

As someone who has worked in a gun shop for many years, I can tell you that Kel Tec is good at making "Can I hold that?" guns. They don't sell for shit, but they are interesting enough to make people who see them ask, "Can I hold that?" and then hand them right back. The KSG is probably king of that in the shotgun world as well.

I own 3 of these. I have never had a malfunction in thousands of rounds. I have $1500 ars and have had many malfunctions. Sub 2000 is not expensive but is extremely reliable.

It is hilarious that the keltec sub 2000 was a meta weapon in payday 2 for a long time, to the point where it would one tap fully armored elite combat units and like 13 shots was enough to kill a dozer, who has a steel face shield, glass face shield, and a full bomb suit and helmet.
I really like payday 2, and they've added a lot of uncommon or niche guns in the game, but boy do somethings not make sense with their balancing.

Well, say what you want but tactically makes a lot of sense. The same round effective in my taurus at 20 yards is now effective 175...150 yards and i didnt change cartridges... hence forth... stocking up on 1 round vs two or three...
As a keltec collector, this is spot on for the sub 2k. I love mine as a range toy or a nice option for fitting a long gun in a backpack. But I wouldn't keep it by my bed at night. Now one that I would actually like to see you play with is the PMR-30. I use mine for checking traps and even as a backup gun. 30 rounds of .22 mag really gives it the AM-180 vibes.
The PMR 30 is awesome! Thing is a fireball thrower. Perfect for smaller shooters too. 30 rounds of .22 mag ain't no joke. I call it The Nest of Hornets.
The pmr 30 is so much less reliable than the sub 2000 though, I have both

I didn't necessarily love this gun but it fit in my backpack during college (we were allowed to cc). Being a broke college kid who wanted a light compact rifle that could be pretty accurate around campus without over penetration, it was perfect.

@slav4335 I didn't want a short barrel. My campus had a lot of separated buildings. I didn't want to have to engage 100 yards away with a pistol. It was going to be in my backpack anyways since I didn't carry on my body while at class.
Definitely one of the guns in my collection. I think I've spent more on mods from MCARBO than the initial gun purchase. The metal trigger and trigger guard made this actually shootable for me; I hated it before them.

I have not purchased this yet, but so far my experience with KelTec is that they have an incredibly awesome customer service and tech support departments, if you ever need them. No hassle. They really take care of their customers and thats what you want from a gun manufacturer.

I just got 2 keltec p17s one for me and one for my 8 year old nephew , he loves going to the range gotta teach them young and I absolutely admire the fact that keltec is stepping out of the comfort zone and making these wonky looking firearms
This is my wife's favorite gun. She's 5'2" and barely over 100 lbs. Weight and recoil are perfect for her. Wouldn't be my first choice, but it's great for what it is ... Which is being one of the most guns ever made.

I'm honestly surprised he didn't mention the horrendous trigger, because it already has a bunch of creep, but then it also bends because of the beach plastic.

I mean, let's face it, the SUB-2K's main competition is Hi-Point carbines, so you can't let the MSRP go _too_ high.
As someone who owns one of these guns its fun just for plinking around on the range. With a red dot and the two finger charging handle on it and it just makes it easier to handle. But everything Brandon says is totally true and I wouldn’t dare use this gun for anything other than a fun day at the range. (I never fold it completely because it just stays in a range box)

When I did security work, I carried a glock 17, so I grabbed a sub2k for just in case SHTF couldn't carry a rifle but it served its purpose for a backpack gun, currently in my bug out bag. So far, it's a good range toy and hasn't had any misfires out of maybe 5k rds.

Okay, I'll admit it. I have one. But I also have a crap ton of other "stuff". I bought mine for a few reasons but mostly a combination of it's compactness and the fact it's fun to shoot, ie.....it's a toy. I do like the fact that it's easily fit into a small back pack and I can take it nearly everywhere, since where I live I can't have handguns or AR style pistols, so on that note it fills a need. Still, I couldn't help laughing at Brandon's mockery of the gun and his perspective on the people that own them. Great video

I like my sub2k. Its just something i stick on the side of my backpack when i go camping or hiking. So far it has taken down a rabid raccoon, a snake of indeterminate species, and a coyote that was getting aggressive with my dog. Not exactly the greatest of threats, but exactly what i anticipated using it for.
I spent a bit more for some mods from MCarbo and it helped the shooting comfort quite a bit.

I have had mine for five years. It is a good travel gun. Fit's in my laptop bag with my Glock 17. Keep two 17 rd and two 33 rd mags in there too. It is fun to shoot; can hit a 4" AR500 disk from 150 yards.

Some deputies in Brevard county here in Florida were issued these for potential better response times for active shooters in schools. They actually have it integrated into their front vest/carrier in the folded position.
Sounds like it might be a good use case especially if they are standardized on the Glock platform.

I think KelTec is actually a pretty cool company. They think outside the box, their stuff does work. This isn't meant to be a primary combat arm for anyone, unless they value compact concealability over outright performance, like a gun to keep in the cab of your truck. A PCC is always a useful gun for many things, and it's always going to beat just a pistol alone. If you can't easily have an AR with you, this is still better than no rifle. I admire this gun for what it is. I think they did a good job with it. It it doesn't look half bad if you like that tactical look.
If you pick up some parts from MCARBO you can really make the Sub2K a nice shooting gun. They pretty much have a part that fixes a majority of the issues it has. It’s never gonna be a firearm to use as your Main Weapon, but it definitely makes it much more enjoyable to shoot.
The plastic oem trigger has to go. ASAP. Start there at a minimum but yes, MCarbo and some other companies have developed a healthy aftermarket for the Sub2K. Of course when your done you've pretty much doubled your investment into it.

I got every single mcarbo upgrades over a few months cause I just couldn't pay that much at once when it was more than the rifle.
But it made a big difference.

I had a 9mm gen 2. It fits under a car seat in a suitcase, takes 30rd glock mags, has better range than a pistol, and doesn't choke on hollows. It's not that bad. Plus i got it for 380 and sold it with a case and 2 mags for 900 during a shortage lol.

I prefer my Ruger PC Carbine. Still very packable as the barrel literally comes right off with a simple twist and pull. Ruger just makes a better quality gun.
Gen 2 might be more reliable, they likely worked out the kinks .

When all of the riots started all over the country where people were being attacked for no reason, I started carrying mine in my backpack. It's a great way to have a rifle in situations where carrying a rifle is impossible or draws unwanted attention. It takes up so little room and is so light that I never bothered to take it out of my backpack. There was a TH-camr years ago that made his own on a mill out of steel and aluminum. That one seemed really nice.
That's the thing most people don't factor in when they shit on the Sub2k. Should it be anyone's first choice rifle? No, probably not. Is it the best choice? Sometimes. Obviously a proper rifle would be preferable, but you can't always have an AR or AK with you, and in those situations where your choices are plastic foldy rifle or no rifle, the foldy rifle wins every time.
A sub2k in your backpack is always more effective than an AR in your safe.

The weapon I wanted to carry with me while the riots were going on was the AR-9 8 inch pistol I built, but that would not fit in a backpack so I would have had to of left it in my car. If I wanted to increase the carryability of the weapon, I had to give up some things. Hell, I carry a Glock 43, but if I were ever in a gun fight I'd prefer my Glock 23, but I give up having the better gun for carryability and concealability. Because I'm not going to war when I leave the house. I'm going to go about my normal day. Work, shop, etc.

In Canada, where we can’t have ARs or AR “types”, the Sub2k multi-mag is one of very few if not the only PCCs that runs P320 mags. That’s the main reason I have mine. Also, get the M-Carbo upgrades. Mine runs great!

I love the sub 2000. Compact, uses cheap common ammo, basic without parts that will be more delicate... It's not competing with full size rifles. It's a great little rifle.

Bought the gun to take to the range and have some fun to shoot with and it fits in my large pistol case along with a handgun - not to get in a shootout with some gangsters or home defense - my Keltec 12 gauge KS7 shotgun paired with my Glock G19 9mm handgun are more than enough to ward off any intruders. Not planning on going into a shootout against any AR's anytime soon but my PLR16 will definitely take them by surprise if that were to ever happen which I doubt - anyway I appreciate your open honest presentation. I've got the Gen 3 Sub2000 with rotating folding barrel with Sig Romeo5 Red dot - it folds up ez pz. This gun fills a niche but I agree it should not be your primary fighting or hunting rifle.
I owned a Keltec a while ago, it served me pretty good as a swamp walk gun. I wasn’t doing anything crazy with it, but it did die a death after forgetting to double check the barrel after unfolding it. A foamy ear plug found it’s way inside and blew the barrel in half.

I bought one (in .40 S&W) that takes the same magazines as my M&P .40 my agency gave me when I retired. In its stock form, you're correct. It's downright awkward and uncomfortable to shoot for very long. Adding a few well designed aftermarket parts makes it much better. I know it's not an AR/AK full on battle rifle but for a compact, folding, versatile, EDC, backpack, truck gun.... it serves MY purposes quite well. The addition of a red dot, you can get your cheek up a little off of the bolt tube and shoot decent groups at 50 yards. Some of us have hit steel at 100 yards with these things.
Owned my sub2k for about a year now, it’s a hunk of junk & I FUCKING LOVE IT! Foldy-gat best gat :)
