I agree with you Lucy that pronunciation must come first, because the time from which a person starts learning English with grammar and vocabulary until they reach the stage of pronunciation at the end can destroy their ability to reform the wrong pronunciation s/he has received.

With the help of a native teacher like Lucy on TH-cam, I think there is no reason for my friends in my town not to acquire English any more. So glad you prioritised pronunciation. I'm working with adults in a SE asian language with drastically different vocal sounds to English. One of my students yesterday confessed his fear at making grammar mistakes. I assured him that a simple sentence said well is way better than fancy grammar with poor pronunciation! That native English speakers usually understand that grammar is difficult and will mentally adjust what you say IF they can understand your words! You've also validated my pickiness at getting them to finish words (it's the endings such as - k, s, t, -ed, x, they find most difficult)

Lucy, I agree with you that pronunciation is the most important thing at the beginning. I started my learning with repetition words from songs of the Beatles when I was five years old and after that I did it with the other bands. When I was a teenager my favourite one was Depeche Mode. Maybe my grammar wasn't on the high level, but my pronunciation wasn't bad. I was told that by my English native teachers when I was about twenty- five. Now I'm practising with you. Thanks for your wonderful lessons :)

I just want to share this, I'm 23 and having a hard time with my pronunciation and grammar. I hope that teachers & parents here in the Philippines would teach children at a very young age and encourage them to read, writte and speak atleast when someone is trying to speak to them in english. Cause some people here are judgemental especially when english is their first language. English is a very important language, for me it's the universal languange and also a business language. English is the only language, spoken with a huge percentage of people in the world. So we have to learn and have knowledge about it for better understanding. If we can understand each other, it will lessen the misunderstanding and arguement. Imagine, that everyone can understand every raise culture, history etc. We will know how to adapt and adjust. Again importantly is to understand.

From my personal experience, being able to speak a better, clearer pronunciation it’s indeed a very crucial thing, it’s not only because that it can allow you to be able to have a better understanding when having a conversation with others, also, grasp pronunciation at the first step of English learning helps me to memorise vocabularies effortlessly by recognising the rules of the pronunciation in a certain way. You can improve your pronunciation with a video that produced by BBC. I forgot the name…but I believe that you can easily find it out in TH-cam. It’s a an-hour long video, and it’s mean to teach you the phonetic symbol of English (in a British accent, of course). I watched it over and over again when I was in a beginner level, then, it changes my life. And for grammar, the book called English Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy will be your good companion of your English learning journey! Wish you all good luck on english learning guys! ;-)

To tell the truth My first experience was learning English Grammer as you know it is extremely boring. However I am hard working so I was able to finish Grammer. Indeed I was very difficult situation at the beginning of speaking and listening activities but as you mentioned above I had done practice a lot and I am still working and improving my skills
