Moist Critical / penginz0 / charlie challenged Mario 64 speedruners (and more!) to completely break and speedrun a random game, Amok Runner. I'm really digging the Speedrun Bounty format, and judging from the level of participation in this first event it should only grow. I wouldn't doubt seeing bounties at live events like GDQ in the near future.
GDQ only looks to make money for themselves... I mean "their charity".
It is actually not the first 'speedrun bounty' event as you called it by charlie. He put up I think it was also 10k for a halo super hard challenge. Granted it was not a speedrun (because nobody up to that point was able to finish the game) but still, it kinda is.

i wish crit, would extent the window a bit more. like after the 2 weeks and the winner gets the 10k. he adds another week to the challenge winner get 3k. and after that 1 more week winner gets 1k. anyone who finds a major skip after the 2 weeks gets 100$.

More impressive than the actual run is the sheer amount of info everyone was able to extract from the game to make it happen. It seems like thousands of hours of work.

This would make a dope series for either Charles or someone else to do where they give the community/world a new unexpected/terrible game every so often to speed run with a nice prize. There’s so much meme potential in terrible games but it goes unnoticed because no one’s offering you money to play it lmao

This is genuinely one of the most enjoyable speedrun docs I've seen
Imagine being Zach on the last day just refreshing the leaderboards, checking streams and biting his nails all day... Zach might be putting out a different kind of bounty after weegee yoinked it by 1 second with 2 hours left LOL!

This is a well made documentary with great humor that's not too over the top. My kinda taste. Subbed. I hope to see more great vids like this. As a spectator that never speed ran anything in my life, I love seeing the discovery process and refinement of runs in the speed running community.

Weegee is insane with his possible skill ceiling, but I think the vast majority of participants didn't speedrun this game before either + his world record was super close to the deadline. So it could have turned out either way
@@dreamisover9813 yes but he had held world record a number of times, he got the best time, still has the best time. Nobody had speedran the game beforehand, he even started slightly later than a lot of other people. I admit there was a high possibility he didn't win, but the fact he was a main contended anyway just shows how dynamic his skillset can become.

It was so interesting watching the streams of people running amok runner and just seeing how the game evolved so quickly
F to zach man, losing it at the final hour like that to a single second. I imagine that's why Weegee wasn't super hyped about it, considering zach was kind of the frontrunner the whole time.

@@MrAllallalla Well I mean most pieces (as they're called since they don't have words) were just called what they were and what key they were in, if they weren't part of a series of works. One of my favorite pieces is Chopin's Waltz in E Minor (and no the piece had nothing to do with solitude).

Definitely would love more content like this. I think being a top speedrunner yourself, you have a viewpoint most don't on speedrunning. It'd be cool if you did other games besides ones that you have personal interest in, and you have the clout to get stories and information from the people familiar with the game. Your presentation is different enough from the others doing similar videos that it would work.

Imagine a project, that would gather the speedrun community and dedicate like 1 month or 3 month or any other time frame to 1 game and 1 game only , after that time frame another game.
The results would be mind blowing
That idea crossed my minds like a zilion times, just thinking that some games only have like 10 or 20 active member and yet they find the most crazy exploits/strats/skips imagine the power of the whole speedrun community
