    I used the 35-150 for a year. I didn’t think I’d care about the weight, but after extensive use I just didn’t enjoy using it because of the weight and balance of it. Also I found myself missing wide shots more often than not and using my 20 G. Using sony native you’ll get better stability. So I switched over to the 24-70 mk ii myself.

    Having the mindset to use a zoom like several primes is the best way to grow. Be intentional in what focal length you need to get certain composition. Good stuff man💪🏻

  • @SimonMeunier
    @SimonMeunier ปีที่แล้ว +5

    For client stuff i always find the zoom lenses more practical because of the issues you can face during a shoot outside of your confort zone. Otherwise, for personal stuff or to get more creative I prefer primes. But yeah, when being paid for work, I always thank myself for getting zoom lenses

    I like zoom lenses for how fast and versatile they are. The 24-70 GM II is great for most things. I pretty much have it on camera all the time unless I need extra wide or extra zoom. That means tremendous value which is the name of the game. The fact that the 24-70 GM II is so sharp and clinical almost all across the image allows me to throw a 1/8 pro mist in front to give it a "look" that works well for many situations. There are 100s of other filters to put in front for whatever situation which just adds even more opportunities to get what I want. I use the NiSi C5 filmmakers kit with VND, matte box, 1/8 pro mist and an extra 2 stop ND.

    First of all I'm using my 24-70 deez nuts for almost everything because it's so versatile for every situation. But I had cases where I regretted using it instead of a prime, when I was filming with my A7IV in crop mode (50 fps) F2.8 and another videographer did some shots with her A7SIII F2.8 in Full Frame and my shots looked completely different (worse) than hers because in crop mode my bokeh F2.8 looked like 4.0 and was actually distracting in the edit. Had to add some fake bokeh with davinci magic masks, to make both shots work next to each other. I'm still more of a hobbyist that's why a a7SIII or FX3 is still out of reach, but in cases like these I cursed my A7IV crop mode. Without crop mode I think my 24-70 would never leave my camera, because I think F2.8 Full Frame bokeh is totally enough for all of my needs.

    Im on gfx now, but I haven’t been able to let go of my a7rv 24-70ii, 70-200ii and 50 1.2. For photography that combo cannot be beat. The performance and iq is top notch.
    I love the 100s images more than anything in this world, but it simply cannot come close to doing what Sony does. The Sony will never fail me. And the zooms are just as sharp now, just don’t have the same contrast as primes. But you make up for that contrast difference in my opinion with the ability to tighten up and perfect your composition in fast situations . I wish there was a one all solution but I don’t think there ever will be. In the end we make what we have work lol

    • @ProfoundProductions

    What's up bro. Question. I am new to this and shooting my first wedding on Nov 23. I have a Sony FX3 and a 24-70 f 2.8 GM ii. That is my only camera. I am renting another FX3 and a 70-200mm for the wedding. I have been thinking about getting a 50mm 1.4. you know you can probably get even better bokeh if you had an a7 or an a7r and go into apsc mode with the 24-70 gm ii, it becomes 36-105mm and then you can get an even tighter zoom and a sharper image because it's being down sampled from a denser resolution.

    love the content and channel man, you're doing it right. hats off on that preview edit @4:30. pro look, vfx in check, and guessing the couple super happy with it. serious question for yas: beginning to end, how much time do you find it takes to complete a proper weding edit? i know folks that can sit down and output that level work in like 2.3 hr. for me, honestly it'll take me couple days going back and forth on it. lay it out, then wipe out entire edit couple times, etc.. without sounding too pompous, 100% happy with footy/shots, so no real issue there. apprecaite any insights, or perhaps future vid? feel like it's some version of editors block combined with too many options within NLE. with wedd edits, feel like you could take the same footy & same song, and end up with prob 10 different versions that would be equally great and highly accpetable. love any insights, would def sign up for $29.99 masterclass on not pulling hair out for wedding song edits 😜
