If there are 2 identical games and one features smoking hot women and apolitical devs and the other features frumpy feminist lesbians and the devs go out of their way to tell me they hate people who look like me....... Guess which game I'm going to buy? If I'm going to be staring at a character for 100s of hours I prefer to be looking at a traditionally attractive woman and if the view from the back is pleasing, all the better. Its very simple ppl are not interested in playing ugly characters/over weight characters. I can say for me put on a bunch of weight about 2 yrs ago got up to 250 been working it off over the last year down to 220 so still a little on the hefty side and you think i wanna play a slightly over weight dude no i play someone that is built like Kratos for inspiration to keep going to the gym or a hot chick. The main character was played by the Korean actor from "I saw the Devil" and he was the Front Man in Squid Games. Well a number of western critics shat on him for not being able to relate to yet another pretty boy character. And with the failure of MMO-oriented Lost Planet 2. So for Lost Planet 3, Capcom gave those critics what they wanted: a 40+ year old generically nice beardo with young daughter, critics praised the game for having someone they can relate to.

We love seeing these beautiful female characters, feminine beauty, feminine characteristics(not lesbian), sexiness(stunning body with perfect face ratio), it really attracts more gamers to play, even the straight women would really love to portray the character during the cosplay events and they get a lot of fans.
Exactly, im a straight woman and I love playing pretty characters , m or f. I will even restart character creation 100x just to make sure she/he looks good and translates in gameplay well, lol. Enjoying beauty is not inherently sexual, and i refuse to pay for a game with characters i cant stand to look at. Wish stellar blade would come to pc as I would totally buy it, looks awesome, and reminds me of Nier automata somewhat.

Stellar Blade is high up on my to play list (once I get a PS5), as well as Black Myth: Wukong, and this new Vindictus: Defying Fate. I just discovered that one thanks to you. Game play is king, I'll say that. If your game play is bad then your game is bad. That said, there are 100s if not 1,000s of games with rock solid game play so there are other factors when deciding to buy a game. I'm a heterosexual male, the main demographic in the pc and console markets. If there are 2 identical games and one features smoking hot women and apolitical devs and the other features frumpy feminist lesbians and the devs go out of their way to tell me they hate people who look like me....... Guess which game I'm going to buy? If I'm going to be staring at a character for 100s of hours I prefer to be looking at a traditionally attractive woman and if the view from the back is pleasing, all the better. At the end of the day though I'm at a point where I don't care how good the game is and how much fan service it has, if your devs are online spreading left wing bigotry I'm not going to give you my business. Why would I? You have your employees telling me they hate me because of how I look.

In Stellar Blade, however, the body of the protagonist character is absolutely realistic. It was captured from a model named Shin Jieun (TH-cam channel @zennyrt). According to the developers, the face of the character was invented, but the body is that of an actual person.
When someone takes the strategy for meeting college essay word counts and applies it to meeting TH-cam video runtimes, you get this video. Repeatedly saying the same thing, just changing the words a little each time.

In the West : we had to wait for Lara Croft to have finally a main female character. We have no lesson to give to Japan. Japan studios have great female characters since DECADES : Samus, Chun Li, streets of rage, El viento, Final Fantasy, Golden Axe, etc ... not to mention female characters in anime too : SailorMoon, etc.

Stellar Blade and 1st Descendant did well, much better than diverse gaming.
The only way they win is to not give you a choice, which Asian studios give another perspective,
and then they have to confuse your perception. I think that is why they need to go after Japan next.
