Production IG ,UFOTABLE & MADHOUSE .....these are the TITANS of animation. If only they had the backing & money that DISNEY has, they could start of revolution and change the way even America looks at the visual arts.
Yeah I can't stand the 3D thing, I understand it's easier/cheaper once you get it going and it's "in" nowadays, but it's just not as impressive as 2D if you ask me. At least as long as we're talking stuff like Disney and the classical fairy tale theme (or family movie on that matter). 3D is amazing in movies like LOTR, HP or the Marvel stuff etc., but Disney, if they need to use it, should only do it partly and stick to 2D as their flagship for big movies. For me 3D just doesn't have the same magic like Lion King, Tarzan or the ol' Jungle Book did
i gotta be real. I really prefer I.G. over Madhouse massively. The main reason Madhouse are so popular is because of faithful adaptations and dark anime...... that's it really.... Dont get me wrong they are great but i just think I.G. are way better. In both adaptations, production and original works.In saying that, both studios are doing a godly job of Diamond no Ace

What Madhouse need to do is appeal to there own market, there massive in the West mainly for HxH2011. In Japan the only series in the past 4 years they have made thats been in the top 10 in terms of anime sells at any week has been Ace Of Diamond, and I.G. do most of the work for that. If they don't stop appealing to western audiences and leaving japanese audiences to the side they will not survive as a company. When not even HxH 2011 makes it into the top 10 anime sales of the week in japan, in any week, That is a massive problem.
I'd like to win the lottery and figure out a way to fund the top 1 or 2 animation studios in Japan. So tired of having some anime drop out of the sky despite them being wildly popular.
I got here through the Studio Pierrot one and I gotta say just by seeing how the CEO's talk and what's their vision makes it clear why Production IG makes such good anime these days while Studio Pierrot sucks more and more. I really like his way of going about things and that he envisions a cooperation with countries or people as far as in Europe! For someone who's striving to be able to make a living with comics, this would be a dream come true of course! I also like his idea of having shows that are able to earn their money over long periods of time, this is something that makes a lot of sense, but is pretty rare nowadays. Ghost in the Shell is a classic obviously, but having shows like that means the studio gets a steady (even though it might be smaller than with huge one-time hits) income and can continue to do it's work and produce more shows rather than worrying about getting money to produce something. AND their shows generally have a high-level animation going on (I still think the studio's potential is kinda wasted on Haikyuu!!, which would make do with less quality animation, and if they needed a quick boost they should've pursued Tokyo Ghoul for whatever it took, because that story deserved so much better than what Studio Pierrot is capable of), Shingeki no Kyojin is a perfect example - just look at the backgrounds! Kudos for being there when they were producing Ghost Hound, which is one of my favourite anime ever!
You can't just make do with Sports anime. I understand that action animes also require high quality animation but so do Sports anime. Otherwise, there's no point in making it if the animation is unrealistic. They can't just pick out whatever they like to animate well. And the studio's well known because they do all their works with better quality. So you can't really say they wasted their potential on some sport anime because every anime they make holds their reputation.
I hate the sneaky business middlemen hands all over the place. I think the INTERNET should have solved it already! It is the ultimate distributor, and it's public. Money should go from FANS to CREATORS, nobody else, enough with that. Then the creators pay their animators, their manager and their accountant. And about a 1% fee for an internet streaming platform (like Spotify and Netflix, but almost non-profit, it's just infrastructure), which obviously would be enough to pay the programmers that keep it working. I dream of that world!
I really want more info on this stuff. I felt like getting so much more information. Although it was meaningful, this feels short, and it made me want to really know more about this stuff!
I really learnt a lot from this video about distribution and copyrights in this anime industry and a few other things. I wonder how ufotable would be in such a tour...

Production I.G. Can make great original stories not related to the manga, like most of Ghost in the Shell anime.
