Ah yeah I forgot to mention...In regards to the 'Kuwagamon Simulator' problem- I've been running my Pendulum X a lot over the last month and I've found that if you meet the requirements for the evolution you want as SOON as your Baby II evolves into Rookie, then you shouldn't have any problems. I've raised 4 Digimon to Mega level without getting Kuwagamon once using this method. I did once get Agumon X (bad care) when my Dorimon evolved while sleeping, but then as soon as it woke up and I noticed, I trained Agumon and fed it the correct items right away to reach Seadramon X's requirements. If anyone else has a Pendulum X, try this out!
I've returned to this video in-part because I'd love to see a Pendulum X Color that takes notes from the PenC and the Digital Monster X. I have a deep fondness for the X-Antibody digimon if only because it was a combination of interest in the VPets AND the X-Antibody that I got back into Digimon in the first place.
My major complaints about the X is the randomness of the XAI system, wich I could overlook, if it wasn't the fact that you have to watch every Battle and there is no way to skip it. Everytime I can shake the right amount( Wich is to much for my opinion) and I dice a 1 or a 2 I'm forced to watch a painfully long fight Wich I might lose at the end. Same applies to training. Other then that I love the big sprites in this one. I wish they would release a new V-Pet after the Z with big sprites.
Been waiting for this. I really want one. I know that Digimon X has a lot of the same features but I like the bigger sprites on the Pendulum X. Too bad it's just so expensive even for a loose beat up copy...
Finally got me a pen x, and I gotta admit. I love it! I thought I'd hate the bigger screens and much prefer the smaller sprits, but I was wrong. I love it so much that I rate it higher than the Accel.
Another great video. Really interesting to see where the more recent X series get there inspiration from. The roll system certainly adds a new layer but I can see how it can be frustrating having to battle the RNG gods while raising.
The Pendulum X is probably my favorite Digimon V Pet, I always have a blast running it . I have a version 1.0 and I really love the lines included. I hope I can find a 1.5 someday as well, but those seem hard to find. I agree that the XAI is irritating a lot of the time- I've perfected my shaking technique so that I always hit the correct number for a Tera Shot, but then somehow my dice rolls are always really low! Something strange I've noticed about this V Pet is that as your Digimon gets on in age, like maybe past 9 or 10 days old, it will start trying to die in the middle of the night while it's sleeping. It's almost like it's an old geezer and had a heart attack or something. I'll be sound asleep and then suddenly the death beeping tune starts to play at like 3 in the morning, and I have to wake up and shake the device really hard to save my Digimon. After that they always just go back to sleep again, and then wake up at the normal time in the morning. Has this ever happened to anyone else w/ a Pendulum X?
Oh man definitely, except I have never saved it in time lol. A few months back Okuwamon X started dying in the middle of the night and I was NOT conscious enough to save it
@@humulomon Oh no! XD For me my bedside table is right next to my head, so it's pretty hard to miss. Sometimes it's really startling! That's very weird tho, it must be a thing that all Pendelum X's do. I don't know of any other Digimon that try to die in the middle of the night like that.
I just bought one of these because love the design of both the sprites and the device itself. Randomness is what I live for so the XAI System doesn't bother me all too much but I'll have to see how I feel after I have some time with it.
5:25 The change to three-prongs was probably to help make it thinner, as the two-prong connector was never used on any devices thinner than the original V-Pets and Pendulums.
Man, that card-shaped device is so cute. And I love dice gimmicks. I wonder how far you could push the board game mechanic. For example, battles might be more fun with push-your-luck mechanics, or with multiple paths on the map, guaranteed roll # items... I wonder how far you could push gamey elements like that on such a handheld.
So awesome to finally get sone great info on this device! I was so worried about trying to run mine as i didnt want to mess it up or be stuck unable to understand how to enjoy it
got my 20th at target for 5 bucks not thinking much about it because I've never tried any virtual pets and said why not. but now I'm so sad because I'm really interested in the digimon virtual pets and every other device i look up is at least over 100 dollars or at least has a pricy tag on it! I've also been binge watching your vids too and your channel is so underrated. i just hope they at least release more in the west because terriermon is my favorite digimon and i wanna take care of him lol.
I was a beginner to degivice when playing the X-series. I always end up raising a Kuwagamon lol Grandis Kuwagamon X was differentiated into a different look, which took me some time to recognize/accept it as a Kuwagamon family.
This is a bit of a wild thought, but if possible, could you add the Sony PocketStation offshoot games Pocket Digimon World (one is probably enough, but adding all 3 games would be fine too. That is if you have any of those things mentioned) into the brief history of Digimon V-Pets (Granted it's exactly a V-Pet per se, but it's quite close). Long story short, it's basically a downloadable game from the PS1 games, that basically combines elements from the Digital Monster v-pets and Digivice toys. There's also the Pocket Culumon game for the same systems, that's more likely akin to the main Tamagotchi games.
I do indeed have Pocket World Cool, but man it is impossible to use without knowing Japanese haha. I recorded a whole video of my first experience with the game but it was super interesting due to me not knowing how to do anything. I loved my cute fat Pukamon though, and was at least able to get it to evolve into Gomamon, though I never did win any battles. Not going to say definitely not to a new video about it, but it's not in the plans for right now
Not quite unfortunately. While the hardware for connections is basically identical, the two prong devices change how the hardware is used. The signal timing is different, as well as the contents of the signals themselves.
That MFing circle on the side of the Pendulum X always looks like a hinge to me! It makes it feel like you can flip the top right corner of the Pendulum around and it makes me angry that you can't! But anyway, as edgy as Digimon X was the Yggdrasil plotline must have been successful, because they keep using Yggdrasil in their games and anime.
When doing my own research it looked to me that frontier and this x arc happened more or less simultaniously rather than x being initiated after frontier. Am i completly off base there?
Not off base at all! The thing to look at is the full timeline of these series. Frontier did indeed overlap with the introduction of X Digimon into the card game, but that overlap was at the very tail end of Frontier, in February of 2003 (Frontier ended in March 2003). Frontier had been running since April 2002, so there was plenty of time for Bandai and Toei to monitor ratings and decide how to proceed with the next year's new initiatives for the franchise before settling on going all in with the X initiative.
@@humulomon alright i think i see what happened now, the first of the digimon pendulum progress came out july 2002 and the last one of those had X digimon whih i think threw me off but that last one came out march 03
