    I used to do this method but a 3g sinker and the hook tied straight to the mainline with no snood or a very short single snood.
    Fluorocarbon i find better than mono as my leader since i use braid.

    What about using an alpine butterfly for your dropper knot, they are super easy to tie and easy to adjust. Any particular reason why those wouldn't be fine for this use?

    • @EParkFishing

      I've never used that! I'll have to look it up. I almost always use a dropper loop but I used to use a palomar knot. But there are definitely other options. Thanks for the tip!

    Dropped shot is so versatile for a lot of fishes even using live bait bait the end of your hook.

    • @EParkFishing
      @EParkFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When your drop shoting and the weight is on the bottom of the lake do you keep your line taught or do you have a little slack in it. Thanks great video content right to the point and easy to understand.

      Thanks for subscribing! Welcome to the channel! So I usually keep light tension on the line, but not so tight that it'll easily drag the weight towards you. If the fish are finicky, sometimes I put a little slack in the line. It lets the presentation be more natural and the fish won't feel that resistance right away. I like just a slight bow in the line. Then if the line starts bouncing, reel down and the hook will pretty much be set. Hope that helps! 🐟🎣

    Another rig that is deadly on trout is to put a small egg sinker on your main line, then tie a small barrel swivel to keep it from coming off. On the other end of the swivel, tie a hook with about a foot of leader. Use this (where legal,)with a floating bait such as powerbait or half a blown nightcrawler. Leave a little slack in the line and use a small circle hook. When it comes time for the hook set, point your rod directly towards where the line enters the water, reel in gently to take up the slack, and set the hook firmly, but not aggressively.

    • @anttt9050

  • @Rothias

    Should I use a bobber with a drop shot and just leave it out while I cast a second rod for different type of fish, or is the drop shot fine without a bobber in light currents.

    • @EParkFishing

      Hey! So once you have your dropper loop, you put the end of the loop through the eye of the hook, around the point of the hook, and then pull. Your hook will be hitched onto the loop!

    • @EParkFishing
      @EParkFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try using a lighter line. 3lb UG Maxima for trout fits through pretty well. 4lb fluorocarbon is a little tougher. If you can't get it, try feeding a section of line through the eye, through your dropper loop and then back through the eye again. Then you can pull the loop through. Good luck and tight lines!

    • @EParkFishing
      @EParkFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you use a spinner, try casting it upstream or Straight across from the hole and let it sink for a good 5 seconds before retrieving and retrieve slow. Trout seem to like gold and silver spinners the best in my experience, but try different colors.
      Another good option is using flies! Jig nymphs, brown/red wooly buggers and copper John's especially work well. If you don't have a fly rod you can put it under a bobber or even on a drop shot. Check out my other vid "How to use flies on a spinning rod"!
      Also, make sure to use a clear, light leader. Hope that helps!!

    What's your opinion on using a dropper loop for the hook

    • @EParkFishing
      @EParkFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally like using the loop since you can switch it out if it gets dull, or want to size up or down. Plus it lets the bait float around a bit more naturally. I usually make the loop 1 or 2 inches max.
