There are many great singers but only a handful of truly great songwriters. If we're turning this into a competition (like everyone lamely does)... I'd a million times over prefer a great songwriter to a great singer.

They should record this album acoustic or maybe just with less production. I think they were afraid to succeed the previous two so they added even more production to make it sounds stronger. I think it's Noël's fault. He should have more trust in his brilliant songwriting and brother's voice, and other bandmates

Best Oasis song of many amazing songs. These guys had so much raw talent. Noel and Liam's voices just blend perfectly together.

I remember watching this on a BBC special documentary before the album came out. Spent hours queuing up for Be Here Now. The 90’s were amazing.

Yes! I knew I’d watched this on tv at some stage! Great times waiting for that album to come out. You remember they played each song from the album on the radio as well once before it was released? Most likely on radio 1.
I remeber sitting in my mates front room patiently waiting for this to air on television the night before the release of Be Here Now as part of a BBC One documentary. We where all gobsmacked after they showed it. Then the next day we went and bought Be Here Now and got stoned whilst listing to it. Good times i miss those days alot ✊️
It's quite something when something sounds better live than it does on a studio recording. Very few artists perform that feat.
Youre right. Bands and solos almost always half ass it and sing an octave lower when performing live, and I hate it. I feel a performance is a performance, and paying customers AND the songs themselves, deserve full effort. I think its cheating your audience to do otherwise.
Love the Eagles because they never seemed to mail it in when performing. You may have heard it before, but their live version of "Hotel California", on the Hell Freezes Over special, while acoustic, it has vocals that are the exact same thats on the album. Henley in particular, was immaculate.

They’re really a perfect combination. Noel is an amazing songwriter and the brains behind Oasis, Liam is the charismatic frontman who injects rock & roll. They both have what the other doesn’t. That’s why Oasis is so good.

I remember being 15 and this premiering on channel 4 with a whole oasis day on their channel. Oasis were absolutely massive, I was outside ourprice in scunny in the morning before school to buy be here now and the buzz I got from playing it to my mates in the art room at school when I got to school was mega. All of us huddled around an old school computer listening to to it through tinny speakers was better than you can imagine.
Pretty sure it was BBC 1 the night before the album came out this was

This video/song has a very "Rubber Soul" vibe to it. It's absolutely incredible. I only discovered this a few days ago and it's not been out of my head since. I guess I'm going to be discovering a lot more phenomenal music inside the rest of the discography.

Maybe but oasis was so great in their era that the only other artist they could be compared to was the beatles. If you actually added any of their songs to any beatles album it would sound os out of place. But I think it reminds people of the beatles

The greatest version of this song ever performed, Liams voice was at its peak and I was hooked on this band from 1994 couldn't wait for this album and it didn't disappoint, privileged to have been part of this musical era.. Never to be repeated

Just watched the knebworth documentary. Fantastic watch and I would recommend to everyone. Oasis were at their very peak and Liams voice was on another level.

Went to USU in the late 90's and I'd sing this with my roommates. One of them lives close to me now. We played it for our kids not long ago. The feeling is still there. BIBLICAL!!!!

I remember finding this version on Napster back around 2000. I then proceeded to download every single Oasis acoustic version I could find... I'd let them queue up and then let them download (56k modem) while I was sleeping, then listen in the morning and burn them onto a CD. Those were the days.

This rendition is always the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the Be Here Now era, one that's looked back on with scorn and derision. I remember watching the BBC doc at the time, eagerly anticipating the new album, and this performance has stayed with me. Liam still in his prime as a vocalist. 'Stand By Me' is ten times better in acoustic form. It strips away all the stadium bravado to a tender singalong by the pool.

Noel Gallagher can sing, write great songs, and is a great musician. He’s also a pretty good audio engineer and was one of the sole producer of all of Oasis songs. In my view he’s one the greatest songwriters. Noel for me was and will always be the heart and soul of oasis.
I still think Liam has a better voice. How great would it be to see Oasis back together..
Simply Noel was the brain back Oasis. Without Noel no Oasis possible.
Owen Morris played a massive part in the production of Oasis songs. Noel is a great talent but you can't say he was the sole producer, Owen had a massive impact on the sound of the earlier albums that launched Oasis. You should read up on Owen - he was at the heart of a huge number of great British albums in the 90s and doesn't get anywhere near the amount of credit he deserves.
