This comment doesn’t necessarily pertain to just this video but a lot of videos I’ve consumed of yours over the years, I really appreciate you taking the time to create each one of the videos you do. I’ve learned a lot from you during my new barber journey, from fades , opening a shop, shear work, & more, the way you break down & explain what your doing really really helps. I study what your doing & apply it to myself with my own style that’s developing , truly appreciate you for you continuous in creating this education content for us beginners & tenured barbers 🙏
I love you, your videos, your detailed explanations, your care of making sure we see everything!!!!! I love you so much!!! Thank you being one of the most caring barber educator in TH-cam. Please don’t stop what you’re doing. I’m forever grateful 🙏🏼🫶🏻
I've been on and off You Tube watching these barber videos for a couple of years and I have yet to find a barber that explains these scissor cuts the way you do!! I work in a shop that is half black, half hispanic and one white guy that's fairly new. We get great traffic of all cultures. The hispanics cut great hair but barely speak English so it's hard to learn anything from them. My barber school didn't teach straight hair so I get so nervous when presented with a straight hair client therefore, I tend to avoid them. I want so bad to become proficient in these cuts but I had no one to follow. Thank you so much for the level of technique, detail and professionalism you display. This is exactly what I needed. I aspire to be a content creator but I don't think I'm quite ready yet. Please keep it this channel going. Your videos are greatly appreciated. 🙏💪💯
@@Seancutshair thank you sir I'm in barber school and they don't teach shear work that much and your videos and techniques I need to add to my barbership if that makes sense 😀
Thanks, need to work on my shear work and your videos help alot!, Been cutting since 2016 and my clipper game good but my shear game still weak... But Im taking every cut like this and gradually improving!
Dropped my job to open up my own barber studios, the best thing I love about you is you make barbering so so much easier and have fire cuts🤝 following you and barber josh and no-one else, yous the real G’s! Appreciate it🤝
Man thanks for the awesome work! I’ve been stuck in my apprenticeship as a barber but your videos have given me back my motivation to grow! Love the way you guide us throughout the cut, can’t wait for the next video
I prefer to cut diagonal towards the direction the hair will flow when it’s finished. Since it’s swept back, I use diagonal back sections. If it’s was work forward I would work using forward sections
On the part of the video where you started cutting the top right side to connect to the sides on 4:20, did you do the same thing on the other side? If so, how can you know how much to pivot out on the other side if there really isn’t a guideline to follow
@@Seancutshair wow thanks for your prompt reply, you have helped me get better and make it easier for scissor work, as a barber scissors is my worst spot if you’d make a scissor course I would deff join it
Thanks for the close ups. I'm looking for the same thing when you get around to clipper/comb. You sure make putting in that taper look easy. Guess I need a few yrs of practice & a few extra guards 😁
Hey! I’m a beginner barber and I was just wondering why use scissors on the sides and not use machine with guard to cut the hair (the first step after sectionning) Very nice haircut though!
Great video! I do have a question. When tapering out necklines, how do you know where to your trimmer line? I’m super visual so to me, it looked like you started at the bottom of the earlobe. Is that always going to be the case?
Not always that high but never higher than that. In this case I wanted to get rid of all his problem areas and light spots. I usually find the first place I have consistent hair all the way across and start there
@@Seancutshair okay thank you that’s very helpful. I’m trying to use points on head “landmarks” if you will to help me determine where to start while I’m still learning. So thank you again for the feedback

On the part of the video where you started cutting the top right side to connect to the sides on 4:20, did you do the same thing on the other side? If so, how can you know how much to pivot out on the other side if there really isn’t a guideline to follow
You can pull the furthest point down to the front to make sure it matches on each side
@@Seancutshair wow thanks for your prompt reply, you have helped me get better and make it easier for scissor work, as a barber scissors is my worst spot if you’d make a scissor course I would deff join it
When you do diagonal partings on the sides as opposed to vertical do you think this makes a difference in the finished look?
Don’t notice a difference. Just helps connect to each parting a little easier in my opinion
What product did you add to the hair afterwards

Probably 40-45 minutes. I give myself an hour when recording

Perfect, thanks for tutorial. You are great barber and teacher as well :) how much time you are sacrificing for that kind of haircut?
I give myself an hour for every appointment so I can always record if I need to. I could do this in about 40 minutes without recording

What is the reason for the rubber gloves? It really makes it hard to see what you are cutting. Like your detailed videos I've been a stylist 40+ years.
I wear them to prevent hair splinters. I’ve been starting to record scissor work without them though for that reason
What’s the name of the styling brush you just used on him during blow drying process?
It’s an OP vent brush. I used to use a Denman vent brush as well
Did u learn all this at the Josh op class.. how long did this cut take you?
Yes! I usually take 45 minutes
What kind of blade on babyliss versus gamma is that your routine to every taper
Taper blade on Babyliss, fusion on gamma. Yes this is my usual steps
