    DUDE, THIS IS SO AWESOME! I watched these videos on your swing arm like 3 times now. Im doing an electric conversion and a swing arm mod for my coleman ct200u-ex. I love your heim joint idea but i may do the 'proper' needle bearing or bushing system. I plan to put my electric motor on the swing arm with the wheel to avoid problems with chain geometry and to free up space for the shitload of battery modules im putting where the engine goes. can you adopt me as your nephew or something? Uncle willy rolls off the tongue nicely.

      Hello, Glad you like my build. You project sounds very interesting! Are you making build videos? I would like to see them. Yes uncle does sound good. I’m already grandpa Willy. Thanks for watching and stay safe!!

      I emailed you. But i'd like to ask here to inspire others. How did you come up with your decision on the dimensions of the 1inch pipe and swing arm length and shock type and length? Did you find a calculator, base it on trigonometry or math somehow, or just kind of wing it?@ly

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello, I responded to your email but I’ll try and answer your questions here.
      I chose to use 1” 120 wall dom tubing for weight and strength. The blue 1/4” tubing added to the bottom is overkill just in case. I figured if there was a weakness it would there. The dimensions well I kinda winged it like you said.
      I knew I wanted the center of the rear axle to be 18” back. This was based on the 10” wheel also. It just looked right. I already knew the width the arm needed by what the spacing was for the wheel with spacers.
      For the shock I wanted some thing that would hold my butt while riding. I’m not a small guy. I search for a long enough shock with a 900lbs spring. Being a single shock you need the heavy spring.
      The swing arm as you know has adjusters for the chain and haven’t had a problem yet with the chain. Let me know if I missed something.. Thanks for watching!!

    I like the joints. Pro move.

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes and work perfectly for the pivot point. I’ve heard other people try it without success but honestly I don’t understand why. We’ll see how long they last. I want to get it on some trails but right now my schedule doesn’t give that time. Hopefully after the first of the year before desert season ends we’ll get it out there.

      @@DIYWilly My guess is that they had problems with the threads turning because they didn't weld them after. I've seen those things used on legitimate prerunners so I know they are tough.

      The heims are tightened against jam nuts and tubing inserts. I can still unscrew the heims.

    My dad always said if you can't park a semi on it not strong enough he was a bridge builder so his logic to everything was over kill bike is looking nice 👍

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe in over kill also. Try to make it stronger than it needs to be. It is heavy though…

      @@DIYWilly one of the main reasons I love the 212 pro bike is super heavy and don't wheelie I'm going to do some modification to jack shaft since it's a weak point I already welded support into the motor plate but keep breaking bearings I bought some pillows and lock collar and when I get some free time I'm going to use lath at work to cut a new shaft I've got my bsp motor finished will run 12/53 set up on paper motor will spin 10k rpm for 30 sec not really wanting to drag race wanting to go for max mph cousin goes out to the flats almost every year to race his 29 Ford think it would be cool to run a mini bike on Salt flats

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great work Willy for a DIY person I think 🤔 you should have your own shop! Your very creative and smart when it comes to strength and safety keep up the great content can’t wait to see that powder coating if you decide to do so 💪🏼

      @DIYWilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I appreciate the comment. I haven’t decided yet about paint or powder coating. Can you believe I stuck on what color… I will be taking it apart soon to add much needed support to the frame and rebuild the engine with some new go fast goodie’s. Thanks for watching!

      Yes I agree the tank is too small now. I just don’t like to many of the options I see out there for the area I have for the tank.
