Uh oh, I knew this react video was coming eventually 😅. Thanks guys the video was great, I really enjoyed it and I appreciate the info and experience you guys bring to the audience. I am always up for learning if you want to collaborate sometime on a vid!!! To clarify a few things, the water at this location was drained for work on a nearby state park. Once finished they raised the water slowly, about an inch or 2 per day. So it was rising, just not fast enough to be dangerous for us. The cave has pretty good ventilation and we were never in an entrapped area so hypoxia was not really a concern. There are a few more things I would love to share with you about this spot, it sounds like a cave you would enjoy! Thanks again Woody and Gus

As a dry caver (I imagine there are many viewers that are dry cavers), I would like to point out that national speleological society guidelines definitely stress wearing a helmet with a head mounted light. It’s the first piece of gear. Bang your bare head once on that ceiling and you could be knocked out and/or severely injured. Also, there is a checklist of things to be carried in case you need it. Any local chapter of the NSS (called a grotto or caving club) will teach how to “cave softly” and greatly minimize danger.

I’m tryna find a cave to go in but the only 2 I know I could get in are definitely dangerous, 1 is by a creek which is definitely prone to flash flooding in light rain, and the 2nd id need to repel into, which I don’t know how to do yet. I’d like to be a caver but I’m not tryna die either.
That was one thing that stood out to me with his flashlights. You want a head mounted helmet light.
I have only been dry caving once in Iowa, and it was super tight crawl spaces and a helmet was a must.

I recently started scuba diving, and from the very short experience I have, it seems, that this might just be how divers (or at least diving instructors) operate. If they see you are passionate about diving, they will be constantly pushing you to improve and grow as a diver. I'm still in single digit number of dives, and there's already talks about dry suit, because otherwise I couldn't be diving once it gets colder. And I wouldn't want that now, would I...
@@harrodharrod5239 really depends on your location. Some have no choice but to learn scuba in a dry suit due to temperatures. If you’re like me and blessed to be in Florida, dry suits are rarely “required” but a lot of cave divers still prefer them, especially for long spring water dives.

The weirdest thing about that video is how dramatic they are about "discovering" all of these "secret" passages with the line right there, but then they so nonchalantly just dive in to swim like there's nothing to worry about. The juxtaposition actually makes their video dangerous if someone else is like, "Hey, saw this on YT, let me try it out," which isn't uncommon in this day and age... I'm glad y'all reacted to this!

i kind of get it. when you’re exploring everything can feel super exciting and magical. just ask my wife about the time i got really excited about some bear poop i found off the trail when we were hiking.
i don’t think he’s deliberately exaggerating, he just doesn’t go in caves a lot so that part was amazing to him but he’s a great freediver so going under water was nbd

Me with surfing lol, being very reckless, Yet scared of getting stuck in a cave again (and I wasn't actually stuck, I just panicked out of no where, terrible time to suddenly become afraid of tight spaces) I grew up in the Outer Banks of NC, and just like on the Netflix show, we surf when a hurricane is coming in...which is beyond dumb and irresponsible but such a blast. I've free dived at night plenty of times in many places, Hawaii and New Zealand are the best, and surfed as the sun was coming up, and setting. I was never afraid of sharks 🦈...Ive seen them, but they always kept their distance...but some of those dumb things I did led me to getting pinned to a reef or sand bar, or broke my board and I was out far, even dislocated my shoulder out there...how the hell I never drowned is beyond me.
I like how this is a mature and constructive criticism by guys who know what they're talking about and share there expertise. Rather than an overly brutal takedown only made for drama and clicks. Well done and respectful, that's how you bring more people in to a niche game like this.

@@DIVETALK I dunno about zero fun. The one aspect about dry caving that makes it different than cave diving is the potential that other humans have been there. A lot of dry caves can end up having artifacts or "treasure" from previous humans. So there tends to be an added level of excitement when you find historical remnants, tools or other interesting stuff that you wouldn't normally encounter in an underwater cave.
I promise I’ve been ‘dry caving’ in holes that would make your bollacks shrivel up into your rib cage. Once I’m water confident I’ll make the jump, but dry caving has killed 10 fold more men than wet caving. Either way, we’re all idiots.

Guys, the thing is.. to us regular people, every single cave diving video seems unbelievably dangerous lol that’s half the reason we are all watching 😂. Because the entire practice seems unimaginable.

I enjoy you guys discussing the how cave diving accidents happen. As a pilot I have noticed a lot of cave diving tragedies follow the same “Swiss cheese model” that aircraft accidents follow. It’s very interesting, once you neglect a tiny rule or fail to follow certain guidelines small mistakes can snowball into life ending tragedy’s
I think diving comes naturally to pilots and vice versa, I do both and its all about checklists, proper planning, and attention to weather conditions. Just check your equipment, recheck, and follow your plan to the best of your ability. In both circumstances as well, redundancy in equipment is also super duper essential to staying safe.

I don’t think I agree with your interpretation of the Swiss cheese model. It’s used in healthcare as well, and in healthcare it’s point is to emphasize the need for a lack of a single failure point.
Let’s say I’m stupid and fat finger (typo) a paralytic order for a patient that isn’t intubated.
I get a warning from the electronic medical order.
The pharmacist should catch it before it goes to the nurse.
The nurse should catch it on their own.
The bottle itself has a warning printed on top where the medication is pulled from.
Even if it somehow gets to the patient, the patient should be monitored so the monitor would secrecy the lack of breathing.
So for an error to kill a patient it has to get through each of those points of protection. Only if there’s a hole at each level will it mean it reaches the patient. If it gets even part way, a root cause analysis focuses both on how to put up additional slices of cheese (hopefully so that it gets caught) and closing up the holes that the error was able to get through.
I would pay money to watch Gus go caving or really do anything out of his comfort zone. His reactions are absolute gold.
I’ve also never dived a day in my life but love this channel.
It would be great if you guys did a cross over with Joe Oceanside getting cave trained with Dive Talk documenting it, focusing on each lesson and its importance. This can bring light to the audience the amount of training, safety and new set of skills required to become a certified cave diver.

The reason you don't want your snorkel in your mouth while freediving is in the event of a shallow water blackout, the snorkel provides a direct path to your airways for water come rushing in if you blackout. The snorkel being in the mouth also makes it hard for the rescue diver to close the victim's mouth to keep water out when swimming the SWB victim to the surface (you close person's mouth and pinch their nose with one of your hands until you get them to the surface when performing a rescue).
I literally just watched a safe free diving course less than an hour ago that said exactly that. To quote the instructor "If you have your snorkel in your mouth and you pass out, that snorkels turns into a funnel for the entire Atlantic ocean directly into your lungs"

Took the grandkids into that cave during the drawdown. Only the third or fourth time I remember them drawing the water down during my life. When they filled the pond back up I let them see it from the boat....they thought it was so cool to have walked around in a submerged cave. Great video gang!!

No they will do it, or are you not familiar with the internet and their dumb challenges. There's dozens upon dozens of videos of people right now breaking their bones doing that dumb milk crate challenge...lots of doctors and the injured are saying don't ever do this, and then boom, more people do it bc they want to be the one that makes it seem like it was easy and not a challenge. Darwin was certainly on to something

That freediving inside a cave seems way more scary than just scuba diving it.
23:49 I might be wrong. But when I've free dived in the past, I quickly learned that keeping the snorkel in your mouth gives water a perfect route into your mouth and down your throat which is an unnecessary distraction you simply don't need. You can use the back of your tongue to seal your throat in order to stop this from happening, but it's just better to avoid it altogether. I'm not sure about all the co2 stuff you guys mentioned though, although it's completely plausible. For those who want some more info: If you pass out under water for whatever reason, your jaw will (in most cases) close in order to prevent you from drowning. If you have a snorkel in your mouth, it effectively acts as a funnel to direct water down your throat which will cause you to drown alongside already having fainted.
You don't sound wrong. The jaw is stronger than the tongue and has more endurance. Almost always, the strongest muscle available to do the work is the one that should.
The diving sections in this video made me more tense than most horror movies. I watched a lot of videos about people dying in caves or while diving in the last few weeks. And seeing this guy walking around the cave with a Selfie Stick and diving without oxygen tanks just seems like a desaster waiting to happen.
Woody is like a naughty/mischievous little boy. Love his zest for life! I'm convinced he'll try anything. Bungee jumping... Skydiving... How long until Woody gets the idea to go to space on one of the new private ventures somehow?
I think these guys in the video just never lost that childhood wonderment, so they have the enthusiastic reactions that kids have. I remember what it was like to be like that, but that excitement and wonderment was crushed out of me in the Army. Since everything that people do for fun was made into a job, I no longer have that, “Wo, this is so cool!” reaction to anything. If I’d done this dry caving thing as a teen vs. now, my attitude and reactions would have been so different. I’m kinda glad to see these guys still have some joy in them.

Perhaps its a secret and never seen before by non cave divers , give the guy some slack , and actually it should stay a secret , because if someone else go in there the cave could be vandalised.

I would never cave dive and I would never “dry” cave dive where you repel down into one (see “The Descent” *shudder*) but this little exploration does look fun as hell. I mean, the parts before they started swimming through holes under water for long stretches lol The beginning of it I would do. Actually reminded me of a cool water park feature or something. I love being educated on this stuff! Unfortunately I'm just not built to go on adventures, I'm very much an explorer from the comfort of the couch! But it's really nice to be able to witness stuff through video and then to have knowledgeable guys like you give context to it!
Fun fact: the video you guys are reacting to was the very first video that youtube recommended to me about diving. I have been stuck in a rabbit hole of diving videos ever since and I love it!!

I'm a scuba and ssuba diver. I also have done a lot of dry caving. I wonder if there is a difference in claustrophobia from a dry to flooded cave? My dad who started diving in the 50's and only quit when he was almost 80 years old was extremely claustrophobic. Diving never bugged him even in zero visibility doing recovery dives for the sheriffs department. He also penetrated many sunken ships.
Since I started watching your videos I've been trying to imagine what it's like being in a cave and how you could get lost so easily. This video made it VERY clear! Not something I would ever have to worry about because the second I found myself in an underwater cave I'd die of fright before I could get lost. 😂

The bat poo cave thing actually has some validity! There are some microbes that grow in bat poo that can cause some pretty bad diseases in humans - eg. Histoplasmosis

Though in reality they just weaponized fear of the regular flu during an already expected and warned about, on every local news station... A very very bad upcoming flu season. They knew it was going to be bad. They called it something else, implemented horrible response, including closing hospitals and improper use of breathing machines which were exploding lungs, causing more deaths which hospitals turned a blind eye and labeled covid as they got an extra $20-35,000 for every case. This was done everywhere, giving the news more covid deaths to report, causing more fear, panic and fueled hypochondriacs to believe they had it. All tests are junk science, especially the pcr test, the creator of said test, Kerri Mullis (*sp ?), died just before all this, emboldening Fauci to press on in his power play... As Mullis hated Fauci, challenging him to debate on stage repeatedly, to which Fauci continually refused out of fear.
Mullis is on video stating the pcr test is not a tool to diagnose anything. Nothing. He said with enough amplification you can see anything, to the point it becomes useless. Yet Fauci allowed the protocol to be using pcr to diagnose this rebranded regular flu, even changing actual definitions of corona virus after all these things were exposed by researchers...
I have a photo of the definition of the corona virus from a medical encyclopedia which states it is the flu or common cold.
CDC and WHO or dept of health (I forget exactly who did this, more than once during this scam, BTW...) changed definitions of the corona virus and the definition of a vaccine to fit their narrative and planned (*event 201 exercise just before this as well!) power and control grab.

Anyway, just like diving, where one mishap escalades and escalates into a very dangerous situation... These few things done by powerful decision makers, calling the shots, making up the procedures, protocols, laws, etc... Were all directed and motivated by errors, be it accidental, innocent, misinformed or highly intentional... Those at the top had their intentions and goals and their activist infiltrators had significant influence, and are all responsible for their crimes against humanity, including every grandmother and grandfather forced to die, suffering and alone. Totally preventable and unnecessary.
If cruelty, power, and ideology were the motivation, Monetary gain was the bait. Everyone got their payout.
To dig deeper on the massive money laundering, kickbacks, financial bribery, mafia style ideology pushing everyone to go along with the abusive crime... Search up the abnormal payments to the hospitals, equipment, etc and the very rare event of the IMF releasing a ton of SDR's (but every country is equal, they picked winners and losers in a strange method!) releasing funding that in order to be turned to cash, must be traded with another country who also got SDR's.... Else they're literally laundering money and a bunch of other financial crimes... So this was their work around... Yet the intent and spirit of this activity was clear and someone, auditors who are forensic experts, really need to deep dive this whole thing!!

He did such a good job on the last video. He went back to hospital hole and basically took all of the feedback I gave him on the first reaction video and used it. It was such a good video!
"I don't want to get scratches on my arms from going in there" ... But you'll gamble with your life and free dive in a cave when it looks like you haven't even done any dry caving before based on how you're talking about these caves???
Also when I was learning to dry cave one of the things we learnt was not to shine lights on the poor bats habitats you're coming into
I also don't think they should have gone so deep into a cave they didn't know and didn't have a map for. Glad you guys commented on the flash flooding too because I doubt they would've checked the forecast. Its also really concerning that they only have one light each. 3 light sources is our minimum and extra batteries. And happy you mentioned about touching the caves. You should avoid all possible touching. For example the acids in your skin can turn limestone caves black and ruin the beautiful white sparkling colour of the walls and formations etc

I think they have the guy from the TFIL channel with them. That’s a channel wheee they go to haunted places and stay the night ( with fake shenanigans for the views) . They had one video where they went into the hellhole cave ( not diving an above ground cave) that activates anyone claustrophobia. They still do some fake stuff to add some drama but that cave is still pretty awesome to see.

I'm glad you reacted to this video but honestly, you guys are so much more fun to watch. #1. I'm not a diver #2. I can watch diving videos of different things like caves, wrecks, and underwater cars etc but it honestly freaks me out. I can't even understand the reaction I have to diving & I just don't worry about it because I really like you guys. I like how you interact with each other, I love the longer videos, and you react to videos I would never end up seeing otherwise. ✌️❤️

your videos have made me really want to get cave dive certified. it looks so fun. my question is, do you have to be ocean diving certified first? the ocean straight up terrifies me because it’s endless and full of straight up aliens that will kill you.
also if i want to learn to dive with a rebreather, how much money am i looking at saving up to get started?
finally, are there any instructors in northern california you’d recommend highly? i live in the bay area
You do need to be an Open Circuit diver before getting into Rebreathers. You don't necesarily have to be an "Ocean Diver", but it's hard to be a Rescue diver without any ocean experience. The rebreather cost depends on the model and the brand, so it's hard to answer. And the same for the instructor, it depends on the rebreather you choose, every instructor is certified to teach on a specific rebreather model.

My dad has common sense. I thought about this channel when he recently told me about a mountain trip to West Virginia he went on with the youth group from his church. He said that one of the guy’s whose dad showed them the caves, just barely walking into the cavern, wanted to show them another one during free time. They started to walk in the opening, and this guy (a little older than him and a couple of his buddies) told them about how cool it is deep in the cave. Just that they might have to swim through part of it. He said that the guy had a flashlight, so he asked what they’ll do if the flashlight stops working. The older kid tried to reassure them that he’d been in that cave so many times he could get them back out. Even as a young teenager, Dad said he saw a recipe for disaster and said no. Thankfully, his buddies declined, as well.
I have to agree with Gus here. I’d rather be cave certified and dive this one than trying to walk/crawl/hold my breath to swim through parts of it. Say you get way back in there like Joe and his buddies, slip and break your leg. You’re up fecal creek without a paddle!
Fun fact: these guys seem to have fogged masks constantly, even when under water. This can ruin the experience and massively hinder your visibility. When I learned to open water dive, I was taught that you can either use saliva or toothpaste on the inside of your googles. So you have to spit a little bit and rub it round, or get a tiny bit of toothpaste and rub it over the inside. I always use toothpaste and it works like magic. Just a tiny amount so there's a thin film of toothpaste while the glass is still fully transparent. Zero fog!
Maybe a super dumb question, but doesnt sting the eyes if u use toothpaste?
@@IroniicSuicide if you use too much the minty part of the toothpaste can make your eyes water. you only need a tiny tiny amount. like such a small amount theres no visual evidence of it on the glass after you've rubbed it round

Just discovered this channel, lots of great videos to catch up on, thanks guys. 24:30, I remove my snorkel when freediving mainly for stealth when spearfishing. Diving with the snorkel in causes a glug, glug, glug sound as the pipe fills with water and spooks target fish from the area before you even see them. I also find it easier as I surface after long apnea dive to just open my mouth and breathe, avoiding the need to blow and clear water from the tube. I was also taught blowing the air from your lungs on the surface to clear a tube, when unknowingly on the edge of samba or swb could be enough to trigger it.
I hadn't looked at y'all's sub count in a while and glanced at it once Gus mentioned it in this vid. All I can say is daaaang super well done guys! I think I subbed somewhere around 3k and I feel like it wasn't that long ago. That's what quality content gets you! In fairness about the bat-poop-air, rodent poo does carry diseases like hantavirus (and maybe even corona, who knows). I remember they carefully dusted and de-moused the cabins in Yosemite when they had that hantavirus outbreak some years ago -- the dust from rodent stuff was supposed to carry the virus.

I don't understand why he lies about and dramatizes the stuff. It's a really neat cave most people will never see, and it's shot well. People would watch that, I would. But you lie about stuff for a short-term boost in views. I won't watch any of his videos after that and I bet w lot of people see them and get turned off by the nonsense
My wife is in the airforce and 2 days ago a fellow service member who was in her unit went missing after going free diving and I was told he was an instructor ,they recovered him yesterday. It's good for people to be careful and even more its good to be vigilant when you dive. Anything can go wrong. I'm kinda shocked that it happened just a month after I started binge watching you guys

Honestly, I was pretty anxious when they were free diving without anything. It is easy to overestimate yourself. And I don't know how dangerous the rocks are is they are usually flooded... I think, I remember that you guys days that sometimes only the water keeps the arches. So thank you for the clarification! ^^
I'm a recreational diver. 300 dives. I can see this ocean guy is misrepresenting the situation here.
Like the "secret cave" with the two canoes in it and rope. I think that guy will run into trouble sometime. I know my limits and would never go into a cave.
