- What a rad day! Today I get to unbox and review the Medicom Toys Mafex Justice League Henry Cavill Superman Action Figure! I was pretty excited to find out it's now available and even more stoked that it arrived one week after I ordered it.

Batman is so awesome too. He has always been my second. I tend to see Superman as the greatest fictional Super Powered character and Batman as the greatest non-powered character. I happy you are enjoying the content :-)

I actually like the previous Mafex head sculpt better. The only thing that was wrong with that head sculpt was the skin tone was too dark. The cape on that one also had some problems, This one seems to have improved both the skin tone and the cape, but there's something about the eyes on this head sculpt that doesn't look quite right to me. Maybe it's just the shadowing of the video and I"ll feel differently once I've seen it in person, but as of now I like the other head sculpt better. Still leaps and bounds better than other 1/12 scale Superman figures on the market though.
It’s funny actually because I took a much closer look at both heads and I think they are actually the exact same mold just painted differently. I do wish the eyes looked the same as in the promo images. There a trend to paint by these tiny little points now. Kinda strange.
I bet your collection has been growing like all the collectors so could you do an updated room tour
I’m not quite at that point but I will be soon. I need a few more shelving units to properly display all the plastic goodness!
My biggest problem with Mafex right now is $$$$$$$$. They seem to be consistently inching upward in price. It’s a cool figure, but it’s hard to justify dropping $70-80 on them.
It can be very difficult. Many people only can afford to choose one and often need to sell one to get the other. I didn’t mind paying as much as I did but personally wish this Figure was around the $40 range.
at least it comes with a stand, sh figure arts are around $50-60 & they dont come with a stand
They increased they're quality, its obviously noticeable. Just compare these two, BvS vs JL Supermen, its the exact same body mold, minus the head and lower legs, but the paintjob, joints, almost everything is fixed. But for this... they increased their prices considerably... to almost a ridiculous level. I mean, Aquaman from JL is 99 bucks... 99... really? I have to pay a hundred bucks for a 6 inch scale figure... if one thinks about it, that makes them the most expensive 1:12 scale action figures in the market right now... not even S.H.Figuarts went that high... its really sad.
At least they improved their quality, but they basically doubled their prices... that seems a bit too much for me.

Got him today and the Flash as well. Love him, he is great. Only issue i have is those thigh joints are TIGHT. They creak and groan I fear I am going to break them. Think I will wait for the summer to do its thing and loosen those up a bit for me. But yeah overall he is great. Flash was also good but his biceps were a bit on the loose end for me. I worry the summer will make those flop about before the year is over.
Hope they make a black suit superman I missed the justice League ver.

Those two figures could single handedly, if done well, could have paid the bills at DC for a few months. They are in such demand.
I had General Zod on pre order!!! I'm still pissed about the cancelation of the line!!!
3 years later,I just got the BvS DC Films Superman and I am in love with it. I made my own Burton/Keaton Batman, but god, a official one from that line would have been amazing, especially the Returns suit Batman.

The funny and amazing part of each superman review that I have seen, is that everyone sees a Henry Cavill in their figures. I honestly cannot see the likeness. Still waiting for a better head sculpt of HC sups.

Mr767267 yeh doesn’t look like Cavill to me either, even the hot toys versions... I feel like everyone looks at Cavill figures with crossed eyes and blurred vision. Not into any of the Cavill figures except maybe the Mezco one 12
I like this figure .he should have had more cape like the one on the right however it's still a great figure .

This John Travolta Superman figure looks great!... Nice review :) Looks like mafexs second attempt at Superman AND Batman paid off, both are much better than their BvS counterparts.
What action figure do you think best represents Henry Cavill's face? Honestly I haven't seen a single one that is the best, definitive version, including this one. Thoughts?
It’s a tough call. I like the actual sculpt of this one a lot but feel the eyes could be painted better. I don’t feel the DC Films one quite gets it right. The Mezco one looks great but still doesn’t exactly do it for me. I’d love to see scan technology used for him.
Hey Brad, lovely video, as usual :) I'd definitely never ever go for a Mafex figure again, the first Supe figure itself was a big let down. My grievances would be with a) Scale b) Over articulation c) Not buff enough d) Build quality...I mean I'll settle for an old Direct Supe figure, anyday...Again this is purely imo - but really look forward to hearing your thoughts on this
Hey thanks! The first Mezco Supes was pretty aweful I’ll give you that. There were some big areas he needed improvement. As for this one I love it. I feel like they corrected all of the problems with the BvS Superman. Honestly I’ll probably pick up a second one because I like it so much. He’s my favourite Cavill Supes Figure so far. I even like it better than the Mezco. I’m pretty stoked about the SHFiguarts one that’s coming out but I don’t think it will be as good. The one I’m most excited for is the DC Essentials. None of the DCD versions quite did it for me. I have most of them, and still love them, but always felt that they fell short of what I was looking for.

I prefer Superman's hair parted the other way. That way it naturally falls to make the S spit curl (without the spit)

That I did. It was part of my Superman 101 video but took it out so as not to be misleading. I remember being a kid and having a book called “Superman at 50”. I thought he was old back then. Lol.

The SH Figuarts JL Superman look's more accurate, but this Mafex is really nice sculpted!
I think that the suits of both are pretty much on par but definitely the head of the Figuarts version looks to be more accurate to JL Supes as far as his hair part goes. It’s a pretty awesome time to be a Superman fan!

His hips are too wide and shoulders are too narrow. They needed to spread out his delts a little to match the V taper proportions to his real counter part. Also he's a little on the skinny side, definitely need to add some bulk for their Superman Black suit if they release one.

It's the best expensive Henry Cavill fig yet imo. Looks to be better than the SH Figuarts version that's eventually coming out just based on pictures I've seen.
But it's still not good enough to warrant a purchase. The JL Batman was good enough, the SH figuarts Wonder Woman is great... but I'm still waiting for a Henry Cavill Superman figure that's good enough to replace my Man of Steel Movie Master Superman.
They're not making him look buff or square jawed enough and they keep giving him the BvS hairstyle which I did not like at all.
Plus there are details missing in the ab section that were there in JL further proving that this figure is more of a BvS Superman 2.0

That’s exactly what this one is. It’s a 2.0 The SH Figuarts will at least get the hair part correct to the movie.

If you can choose only one which would you take. Mezco bvs superman or mafex superman?
I’m more of a cloth goods cape/plastic body kind of guy and even though I think the Mezco may be of a bit superior, I’d have to pick this Mafex one. The Mezco one is a bit stalky and wide for my taste.

I wish DC would let Henry keep his natural curly hair as Supes. His hair naturally has an S curl. I don't know why DC is trying to get rid of the S curl.
I agree. Ever since he shaved off the beard he’s been wearing his hair exactly like Superman’s should be.

MARIPOSA I’m glad you’re satisfied with the K.O. but I’ve seen the bootlegs. They aren’t near the quality. Seriously, if you can get the genuine article I’d advise you to get it. Compare them side by side and it will become apparent where the bootleg is lacking.

A little bit pale, Henry Cavill is kind of pale but not that pale, otherwise, this is the best Henry Cavill Superman.
Some of that paleness might be a bit my fault from the exposure being a bit high. The lights are pretty close just off camera.
To tell you the truth, i like my DC Films Supes the best, and my armored Batman from the cancelled Films line, they're both in my opinion better than the mafex and the figuarts figures, DAMN I WISH THEY WOULD OF KEPT THE DC FILMS LINE MAN!!!
I agree. I wish they had have kept that line going too. A regular Batman and Wonder Woman would have been such welcome pieces to the collection.
I agree, dude! The Zod and Faora figures they had shown from that line looked absolutely amazing and then they got cancelled. I was crushed by that news and now we’ll probably never get movie versions of those characters.

Why does this mafex figure look like garbage compare to upcoming ones? The hush Batman and super man or the Wolverine and cyclops that’s are on the way look like they aren’t even part of the same category. These super man Cavill figures look like dollar store stuff
