I feel bad for him...imagine how he feels after reading these comments. Imagine a whole comment section laughing and making fun of your looks. At least he smiles at his daughter unlike some of those cranky pageant parents who look down at their kids.

I don’t think he’s living his own dreams through her. He didn’t once mention winning and he obviously let her handle her talent portion herself. He just wants her to feel pretty and accomplished and have a chance to come out of her shell. He seems like a very loving parent spending time with his daughter to give her a good experience.
I think he's loving. But given how much time he spends preening himself, this is dress ups for him, not what she wants to do.
He is very sweet, and wants the best, you can see he truly loves his Hailey, but is slightly off in regards in what his daughter needs. Part of me wants him to just stop, sit down and talk to her. But this is just a small part of their life so I can't judge!

Beauty pagents are stupid
I did them as a child - local ones with just dresses, no spray tans and fake hair, NO glitz. And it was the only place I felt beautiful bc I was bullied for being so small. It really helped my confidence and public speaking bc we had questions on stage. Local and state pageants are meaningful- glitz are the cracked out version.

I've only seen this toddlers and tiara type stuff and honestly it made me think they were all just for exploiting children. What your describing sounds like it would actually be really beneficial to kids :)
@@celestialturtle6665 I can absolutely understand! I’m from Arkansas so I grew up with TONS of local pageants. Schools, the fair, etc. My cousin won Miss Arkansas USA and is a pageant coach in Vegas. The big pageant programs, specifically Miss America, offer scholarships to the winners and runners up and donate to their charity of choice. They also require every contestant to volunteer for a cause and represent it in the competition. (:
I think most girls would be very lucky to have a father that loves and respects his daughter like this father does. He obviously adores this little girl and wants the very best for her.
as supportive as he is, it's clear the decision was his to suit his interests. She's not interested and probably wants to do something else. There are lots of ways to bring out a child's confidence
@@MsJubjubbird I think that as long as he doesn't push her to continue, if she dislikes it, trying new activities and stepping out of your comfort zone is healthy! I was extremely shy as a kid and I appreciate my parents asking me to try sports, music, and clubs. It got me out of my shell, I learned new skills, and once a 'season' was over it was my choice whether to continue or not! Seems like he is doing something like this, to me :)
edit, I was in pageants when I was super young, so I don't even remember, but they pulled me out as soon as I stopped having fun
@@mowganashwey I don;t think that;s the activity he wants to do though. She's along for the ride and is too passive to say no. Rather than picking the activity that he wants, he should sit and have several very long and relaxed discussions about what she would like to do, possibly with some prompting because she is not going to come out and name it on her own. There will be something she wants to do, be it sports or music or a boardgames club that canhelp build her confidence.

Yeah, he's weird, but he puts way less pressure on her than some of the other parents I've seen on this show. The girl seems very calm, and adjusted. Even when she was upset, he only tried to comfort her.

Yesss! I've always struggled with socializing with other people even family and it sucks just feeling so awkward and overwhelmed. My parents never try to do anything and i still struggle a lot with it.
it's called social anxiety, and TRUST me, being forced into social siautions to "get you out of your shell" as a child only makes it worse. my social anxiety became crippling as an adult (to the point where I could not leave my house). that is NOT the way to help a shy child, so I wouldn't blame your parents at ALL. be grateful.

These pageants are very inappropriate and strange in my opinion, the way they put too much makeup on the young girls and the outfits. Most of these parents are trying to live through their children and it shows, let them be kids.

I like the fact that he is trying to make her shine, embrace who she is and show how beautiful she is. And he is not forcing her to wear tones of makeup or to wear too open clothes (just dresses appropriate for her age. He is also pays attention for a design). This is what pageants are made for. Having parent-child moments, build confidence, it’s like a sport (preparation, joy of both process and result), invest in child’s development.
He is by far the most responsible, caring parent who acts as an adult I’ve seen in these series. He may act on camera unusual, but he is not killing somebody or going against the law or breaking his daughter. This trait helps him to stay healthy and build close bond with his daughter.
Her mother is sweet too. It’s seems like her parents keep contact with each other even after divorce. They are for her no matter what which is important at that young age.

My prom dress looked better and was a princess gown got it from a second hand store for 99 bucks. Smh. Her first pageant he cud of got her a a nice dress for no more than 300. Talk bout her dad is hella in the closet. Probs why him b his wife divorced. Lol
I use to design and create pageant dresses and other category outfits for people and sell them online too. the most was $6500 and even something small like the swimwear I would get around 300-500 for making them.

I wore my prom dress back when I got married 9 yrs ago. My best friends parents bought the dress for me since I couldn't afford to buy one or to go to the prom but they bought my ticket. My prom dress was white with sparkles and black flowers on the chest with black laced back, like a corset. The dress didn't cost an arm and a leg❤️

i don't think he was being passive aggressive. like u commented on a different comment, he just needs to hire someone else to help her through her shyness. because she does seem a little... disabled by it ( nothing against disabilities obviously, i just feel that it would help her feel better about herself, if she were down the tools for social engagements ( by someone other than her dad, cuz it's soo much pressure on both of them, and works probably be presented/explained better by someone who want soo emotionally invested 🙂)
She truly looked like a full-blooded princess in her dress and elegant hairstyle. She didn't have the fake cheesy grin and stiff walk of other contestants. She looked truly beautiful inside and out. A very sweet girl.

I really like how Dad is trying to get her to come out of her shell by doing pageants. A lot of people do and it helps. The commodore between the girls and the hairstylists and makeup artists, that a single dad doesn't always know how to give, is priceless.

Mynameis Geoff He could’ve been passing. A lot of times, very flamboyant men will act “straight”, and purposefully try to pass. Normally it’s because of religion. But he could’ve been trying to pass at one point for whatever reason, and now if he’s out, he’s more himself and just happens to be more flamboyant. I personally know someone who strived to not be flamboyant and appear as your typical “straight man”. Once he came out, he was a lot more openly flamboyant. So at some point in time, he could’ve been keeping up the appearance as if he was straight.

My big sister is a lesbian and was engaged to a man in college...she was trying hard to pass as straight due to my parents being super religious. She would dress up very girly...she literally looked like a beauty queen...she was 10 years older than me and I thought she was the prettiest girl alive....now 10 years later at 34; she's engaged to a woman and is a "butch lesbian" she acts and dresses like a guy 🤷🏾♀️. Hey! I’m a pageant girl, I’ve been competing for almost 7 years now. I really hate that we get such a bad rap because of shows like Toddlers and Tiaras, when in actuality most pageants are nothing like this. I started out just like this girl, I barely spoke, I couldn’t order my own food at restaurants and couldn’t even do class presentations, but pageants completely changed me. I started doing natural pageants, which all have pretty strict rules about no makeup, fake tans, falls (fake hair), and flippers (fake teeth). After I did one, we got hooked and started travelling to compete in more, I got to spend more time with my mom, I got to meet new friends from different countries, and provinces and I got introduced to lots of talent and modelling agents. As a kid I tried lots of different sports and activities like dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading but I never really made friends or enjoyed it as much as I enjoy pageants. Pageants girls are some of THE NICEST people you’ll ever meet, there are always going to be mean girls in every sport or activity, but most pageant girls treat each other like sisters. Pageants not only taught me confidence, public speaking, interview skills, poise and grace but you learn how to loose gracefully, how to take criticism and how to be humble. I went from this shy little girl, to this confident, well spoken girl who has won many national titles over the years. I have competed in almost every different kind of pageant you can think of including natural, semi-natural, scholarship, and glitz (yes, Toddlers and Tiaras style glitz). I’ve met some of the girl who have made appearances on the show and they are nothing like what they seem on TV. I lost many times, I got told I would never win, I competed against friends, and felt sad reading the judges score cards. But all of those things just drove me to be better, I learned from them and not only bettered myself on stage but off as well. I haven’t just made friends through pageants I’ve made family. Without pageants I wouldn’t have had the confidence to try out for my high school’s musical productions, I wouldn’t have had the public speaking skills to do presentations in class, I wouldn’t have the confidence to just turn away from someone when they try to bring me down. Those are all life skills you can’t get out of dance, or baseball or gymnastics. 99.99% of us pageants girls love what we do and would be a completely different person if we hadn’t started pageants. So please if you watch Toddlers and Tiaras don’t bash pageants or the girls that do them until you actually get to experience what we do first hand, because the crown and sash is only half of it.

At least he is there for her. There's so many dads who don't give a damn about their kids. He's trying to bring her out of her shell. I actually thought they were really cute. You can tell he really loves his daughter and wants to do something to break her out of her shell. Even if he is very closeted (which is absolutely no ones place to judge except him) he seems like he’s really trying. He’s doing more than other dads and he is being reassuring and trying to help her grow
I think her dad is a good dad, he try his best to be close to his daughter, her daugther was shy and she was uncomfortable for the camera round her...i think in the future she and her dad both of them gonna be bestfriend♡

Omggggggh the dad is absolutely hilarious. He needs to bust out of that closet and do pageants himself. He seriously has the temperament for it. This little girl will find her passion, but I'm pretty sure it isn't being in pageants🙄. Dad needs to step back and let his daughter lead. She looks absolutely miserable.

We were approached and decided together to do the pageant. I know it comes across as weird we are regular people and thought it would be an adventure. Good or bad we don’t regret we did it. I love my daughter and she loves me. I will share a recent photo 10 year later if anyone wants to see it and will be nice. I do not have veneers either. We both have an almost non existent top lip and I had been tanning so my teeth appear extra white. Just go easy on me people. This is hurtful... put yourself in my shoes for half a second.

I agree. How would the producers know what to expect out of this when it was her 1st pageant. They were obviously going for the controlling vicarious gay dad theme. This was 100% scripted you could really tell in the beginning with the girls unenthusiastic replies.
