When I hurt my back and wasn't able to walk it opened my eyes to how clearless I was in my 20s. We really take for granted the simple things that we do normally like walking, moving our limbs, feeling. It's so depressing when you're struggling to go to the bathroom that's 10ft away.
I'm right there with you! If I knew then what I know now I would have taken much better care of myself. My older self would have appreciated that, I think.
I can relate. I had spinal fusion surgery and coming back from it is HARD. I walk weird, I can't do half the things that were once easy. I just put one foot in front of the other.
Pro tip. Let your generator run for a minute in the cold weather before you plug anything in. Also never turn the generator on with anything plugged in. Your block heater is pretty hard to damage. But that's a good way to damage electronics from what I hear. Same with powering it off. Unplug everything before you turn it off.
Absolute FACT. The amperage rate when just starting up is obscenely high if plugged in at start up... Let the generator warm up.... also make sure there is no load when shutting down... Your generator will last forever....
I was way too reckless in my teens and into my 20’s working construction and then UPS. Listening to older folks about what not to ignore when you’re young is important. Im 51 now. 30 years at UPS and I have a hard time getting outta bed. Everything hurts. Take care of yourself Jonathan. Peace
I almost said that! I bought one 20 years ago and it’s improved my neck 90%. But it did take a few days for my neck to respond to a different pillow. It was worth every penny and then some!
Get a Gethercovered windshield cover. It covers your windshield, your wipers, your side mirrors and your side windows. No scraping at all. Easy to put on once you get used to it. Also learn to barely open door to get it off window before opening all the way or snow will get on your seat. It is a great product.
Get a disposable shower cap, and put it over your smoke detector, I tape a length of surveyors tape as a means of warning me it's covered. I keep mine in my utensil drawer.
Sorry to hear about your neck pain, Jonathan. Hope you are doing better soon. Take it careful. Injuries like that really suck. I enjoyed the shots of the cross country skiing. The scenery is beautiful. Sorry it was so painful.
I don’t ski but it looks like fun be careful with a neck injury please take care it we don’t need you hurt we love your videos .what a beautiful place great video 🙏🙏👍👍👍
Jonathan, I loved the parking lot "drifting" with the Ford F350 and TC, great video as always and I hope your neck improves - tough to do much when you have that type of an injury! Take Care!
I just subscribed this week. I like that you keep things real and don't hide the stuff that is hard or goes wrong, but you also have such a good personality even when you are facing hardships. Also, I'm a fellow PNWesterner, so cheers! I love about an hour or two from Mt. Rainier but it's been awhile since I went up there, so thanks for inspiring me to go do some day trips!
in 92 I was tossed from a car in a parade and landed on my tail bone as well. Thing is I broke it not knowing it was. I haven't been able to ride a motorcycle or horse any long distance since then. So yeah it can change your life!
Had terrible neck pain for years that I never thought would improve. Experimenting with different expensive pillows was the best money I've ever spent .
Please tell me what pillow you use that helps with neck pain! I had major surgery to put my neck back together and I have a heck of a time finding any kind of pillow that helps me sleep well and wake up without pain.
@ZooZoo293 My pillow was the one that finally cured the pinched nerve I got in my neck while sleeping . I love that they come in different sizes, im 6" 3. One size definitely doesn't fit all . I love Sleep gram pillows too , they're adjustable. I've tried way more expensive pillows than those 2 , but those 2 brands keep me out of pain. Hope you find some comfort , I know how miserable it can be .
@@UrsaMajor5012 Thank you so much! I have a My Pillow now but its about ten years old. I wondered if they were still as good as they used to be but it sounds like they are. I haven't heard of Sleepgram, but I'll definitely take a look at it. I really appreciate your taking the time to respond. Here's to pain free sleep!
Make an appointment with your physical therapist, they can help you find the right pillow to avoid spending all your money on a bunch of extra expensive pillows that don’t work. Everyone s neck is different which is why there are so many different pillows out there.
Jonathon, don’t wait too long to see a physician and also XRay. I had similar fall like you. I waited long, as well. So I have now suffered from back pain and neck. I had so many visits to Chiropractor, massaging and for my neck I had Orthopaedic Specialist that I had many visits for treatments. Good luck.🙏🏽
Check out the warming hut at Little John snowpark has a awesome wood burning stove on Route 35 on the way to Teacuo. Skied trails around Mt Hood over thirty years. White river BSA snowpark parking lot good place to overnight.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. It looked like when you fell, you fell sideways and it may have been more than the fanny hit that tweaked your neck. Yes, it's always a good idea to get it checked right away. A good Chiropractor is worth their weight in gold. Note, a good one. Take care and God bless.
Change your oil and add hot shots stiction eliminator 64oz this will really help your injectors also treat the fuel with diesel extreme , after your tank of diesel extreme switch to hot shots edt winter blend
Make a small fold up shelf somewhere on the back of the truck or a “tire rack” to mount to rear tire. Will not have to carry the generator all the way up front AND HAVE TO BEND OVER TO LIFT IT. Will also keep generator off the ground and no worries about deep snow fall.Extension cord should reach heater plug. Also the ford factory diesel block heaters work very quickly when plugged into power. Good luck with the neck problem. Thats probably why your hands were freezing, spinal compression somewhere.
I hurt my neck a month ago and have been going to physical therapy. Getting better but still lingers. Was told to take 2 ibuprofen and I Tylenol and it helps. Good luck man I know the pain.
Thank you for posting some footage of you cross country skiing. I loved to do this for over 40 years before I had to stop due to back problems. I had a pair of X country skies that had metal edges and they were great for packed snow and ice. I liked to use them when skiing at resorts. I learned to Telemark Ski and that was a lot of fun in deep powder.
Hey man hope you’re feeling better! PT student here and from what you’ve said, it sounds like you have some movement coordination deficits and stiffness in your neck. Nothing serious and pretty common in fairly active people! Hope you were able to see a doctor and possibly get imaging (if needed/to be safe) and a physical therapy referral. Until you can get in to see them, look up some upper trapezius/leavator scapulae stretches. Try doing a set of 10 chin tucks a few times a day while laying down as well, there are videos that can show you how to do them. If you’re up for it, you can also put a foam roller/towel under your upper back and do some back extension stretches as well. It sounds like it’s quite painful right now though, so if that’s too much for right now just stick to stretching and heat if it makes you feel comfortable until you can get evaluated by a PT. They should be able to get you feeling right! Hope you’re feeling better soon and can get back out there at 100% sooner rather than later!
I pulled a muscle in my upper back/neck last month while working out and was in pain for the next two weeks. It's kinda scary how fragile we really are.
Landing on tailbone can bruise it down to the bone, and you will have a hard time finding a comfortable spot to sit without pain..I hit mine twice..1st time, was bathroom picket. 2nd time I got dizzy and went strike down on my tailbone 2xs. Was sore for a few weeks.
Hey Jonathan, regarding your stove not igniting, that happened to me once and it turned out that all it was was some grease and junk had built up where the spark happens so I wiped it all off and cleaned it up and it worked 100%. Maybe you can try that? Good luck.😁
Lol enjoyed the snow drifting in the truck 😆💕👏👍 Better tighten your camper tie downs though. PS- get some xrays etc on that neck. Had a friend who broke his neck and didnt find out til later and got lucky. Yours probably not that bad, but neck issues can get worse if not attended to early

You need to sleep without a pillow when you have neck or back problems especially neck force yourself to do it you will see it works I have constant neck problems
Hey Jonathan, i had a similar issue with my neck, perhaps i could offer a solution. 9 times out of 10 its never in the area you feel the pain, the physio figured out that it was down to my lower lats being weak, so to help i used a resistance band held out straight armed at stomach height, tense you lats together and try to pull apart the band, whilst held out, see if you can turn your neck left to right, you should feel a rush of relief if so.. perhaps it will work for you.
