Jason, I have been watching you for years and I don't think I have ever commented. This is one of my favs. Really great stuff here. Story, cinema, conditions, fishing in the snow?, mobile wood cabin, I smelt that bacon, epic drone shots, and that monster of a van you built! Just going from A to B! It's all about the journey for sure ....I miss the pooches too.
I did some time in the Army and it made me appreciate the outdoors. This is something I've always wanted to do but my wife would never consider it! Something about being outside at night in the middle of a snowstorm just does it for me! I'm living vicariously through you. Keep it up
@@thomasquigley7040 Really like spontaneous adventures too. Worry a bit about the cold and lack of preparation. He seems to be prepared enough though. Thanks for sharing…from an old vet, retired in the foothills of the Smokies.
This is living the van life! I think the high top and the wood stove are two of the best additions you’ve made to the van. As happy as I am with how my setup is working for me, that van is very appealing.
Been watching since you had the 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 truck and orange trailer. I really miss the old pups. Just something about camping that goes with 4 legged companionship. I teared up when Daisy ran off to her new home. God bless buddy! You ARE living the dream.
I haven't viewed your videos for a while and was happy to see this one, a wonderful diversion from the baloney going on right now in this country. Great stuff.
hello Jason, I actually found your channel during covid. channels like yours gave us a little reprieve from the California lockdown. i drop in every now and then to see what your up to, and you are still making wonderful content. it is definitely a break from the insanity. thank you. God bless.
Primal. Love your videos. I am so glad you pinned the Dick Proenneke video. I watched it on PBS as a kid with my dad. Sadly, he passed away 5 years ago, and tomorrow would have been his birthday, and this was a nice memory I was able to share with my wife. Thank you!
Jason, this as well as all of your videos, is perfect. I've been following for a long time now, and I absolutely love the sense of realism you've always displayed in your videos. Good or bad, you don't hide much from your viewers and I think that is an indicator to your continued success. Thanks for always just being you.
I'm a new sub to your channel. I really enjoyed it. Love the interior cabin look and feel. Nothing like a wood stove. When I lived up in Maine I heated my home through the winter with it. I had to chuckle when you said you had the jitters from all the coffee ... a man after my heart. In fact, I have a coffee going right now :)
"with the suddenness of a broken boot string..." I have loved Dick Proenneke's stuff for years! He was the original vlogger! I would love to go see his cabin at Twin Lakes. The coziness of your cabin on wheels is envious. So cool. Really enjoyed this one! Thanks for sharing!
Everything you described about sitting in your van in the snow, is exactly the feeling I get, wind, snow, van rocking (wind! Get your mind out of the gutter folks) 😂 Nice n warm, hot food, alcohol, of course! Best feeling in the world 🙏
Having the door open with the woodstove on reminds me of my husband and I winter camping in our van and having to have the sliding door open during the night as it for so warm. Great!!!
In another life where I didn't get into a motorcycle accident leaving paralyzed from the chest down, I would have followed the same path as you. You are living a dream that I didn't know I had. I have to admit that I was a little worried that you wouldn't make it out there with all the extra snow.
Great video. When I first started watching your channel I thought your logo showed a guy running with a surfboard. I kept watching your videos for the next few years waiting to see you hit the waves before I finally figured it out.
I have never fished in knee deep snow and never seen it done, until now. Looks like a beautiful build on your van. Well done. Thank you for sharing this spontaneous adventure into some deep snow for a fishing, not catching, trip…from an old vet retired in the foothills of the Smokies.
Yep Jason, always nice to see you busy ! You and destination adventures make me always jealous 😊 . But that's okay ... But maybe you guys have to come together one time . Just a idea . Cheers Jurgen
Dude, its "i dont need snow chains season" again. I dig it, ive been pokin ya about that for like 5 years now in good fun. Stay safe out there. Super great content!
I’ve got a 96’, 5.7, 4x4. I’ve tried a couple of different things. Currently I have slide outs in the back with everything I need…I could literally jump in and easily be out for a month or longer if I can find water and fuel. I use a cot tent. I think I’m gonna go with a bed setup in the back, maybe a smaller , thinner slide-out with some minimal necessities, and modify the current box and convert my little “truck bed” trailer into a camp kitchen-water-necessities-power station trailer. I like to hunt, and I like having some stuff with me at all times, but I’d like to be able to
Maybe do the bed deck to be a drawer for my rifles, ammo, smaller air tank for my PCPs. Have a compressor in the trailer. Been messing with the Sub pretty much since a bought it.
I really liked your book pick - truly a great one! Thanks for the video and greetings from Tampere, Finland where we just lost the first snow of this fall (and waiting for the next one:)
As much as I enjoy camping & exploring the great outdoors, I don’t get allure of camping out in the snow. Hey, but more power to you and thank you for the video.
Nice little run out there mate. Love the winter atmosphere. I’d love a wood burner in my van. I live in my Lorry here in the UK all week and try and escape in my van a lot. I do struggle with what to do at nights being mostly in the concrete jungle especially since I spent most of my life outdoors in Africa, etc. Overlanding. It’s difficult passing the time with my head buried in an IPad or phone at night and your videos are a great way to escape that and enjoy the wilderness through your experiences so thank you.
Good stuff Jason. I really enjoyed the warmth of the van “ cabin”. Sometimes the cold just gets in the bones and you have to shack-up for a while 👍. You really redeemed yourself after that creepy stalker video you did of trying out the night vision apparatus on all of Donald’s Patreon folks! 😂😂😂

Hey Jason...great video... ur the man! We got snowed on a couple weeks ago up in Utah...we went to bed listening to freezing rain but at some point it got quiet ...and we thought it had stopped but it was just the rain turning into snow....not sure I had ever experienced that before. The Kimbo looked awesome in the morning all covered in snow lol...
Its great waking up to snow especially when you are prepared for it. I bet the Kimbo looked great. I am sure must be a video for me to check out. Jason
Been a longtime subscriber Jason, it's been a pleasure watching you and the chanel grow over time, glad to see you're still putting them out there and btw the van has come a long way from the original days hey!?
It's hard to beat the look/smell/feel of wood heat. Only down side is it can sometimes dry the air out a bit too much. Wish I could get out there.......anywhere really. Great watching you do it though. Keep 'em coming!
I just came out of the Sierras yesterday. I was hoping for snow…move the deer around, but nothing. Saw lots of deer, just no bucks ☹️. Still beautiful up there. Hoping to get back up there for some prospecting in another week or two. Maybe get a few quail, maybe a turkey 🤞. And that series is awesome. That guy was a modern day pioneer. The lake may have been irony 🤣. As usual, another awesome video. Always appreciated. And the REAL “Red Dawn” is on the “Tube” 😁👍
You might want to head to Humboldt County CA. The weather is still pretty good and our mountains don't have snow yet. Good Video; I really enjoyed your unplanned expedition.
Cool vid, jason. Kind of reminds me of one of my favorite videos you did 6 years ago . Trip to Hot Springs alvord with mat an amanda. It's one of my favorites, and ur survival winter camp meet-up 2014

Jason. It’s been a while since I’ve seen your videos and of coarse here in SW NM it’s been kinda crazy with the rain. I miss you having your dogs though. I hope to have one soon so I can do more on my days off from the hospital.

That is a long time because I don’t even remember having a 7.3🤔. I do remember an old Ford truck that I still have that has a 5.4l.

That is ideal snow to drive in. As the year progresses that will change plus I was down to 20psi in the tires.

Perfect timing for a winter camping video. Hopefully there is more snow this year than last so we can enjoy some bourbon, fires, and camping
