I found that adding a small strip of wood towards the bottom of the jam across will help stabilize while carrying and installing. (Thank you This Old House)
I'm doing something similar for a hall closet but I want to use hidden hinges so they don't show in the hallway. Also I'm using embedded magnets to keep the doors closed.
What size screws/pattern did you use to attach the jam to the wall? Thanks for this, going to try to hang a pair of super heavy antique French doors. 🤞
You are a great teacher! You speak so clearly too! I normally have to repeat the instructions 27 times! lol. Thank you.
Wow, thank you! Glad to be helpful.
Great video thanks for explaining how you did the reveals and how you packed out the gaps around the edge
I just chose reveals that looked good to my eye. It was mostly 1/4" or 1/2" depending on which I thought looked better.

I saw that you used those orange shims for the 1/8" gaps between the framing and the door. Is this what you then used to set the depth of your hinges?
Fantastic guide thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
thanks so much really was helpful
You're welcome!

I did seven wood screws on each side and five up top. They are hidden under the stop.
Great vid, i can finally replace my front door 🤝
I have been wanting to do my house front door as well. If you do tackle it send me a photo of it, I would love to see how it turns out.
Where is the link for the orange spacers? Thanks
This might be a dumb question, but what did you use as your hardware on the top inner part of your doors? The things that "hold" the door closed?
I used little ball catches at the top. amzn.to/46UpV1Q
