How can you tell when the alumina needs to be recharged? Does it change color like the desiccant?

But in a vacuum-sealed bag, does moisture from the filament even reach that center hole? Wouldn't you want the desiccant somewhere on the perimeter of the spool?

Is anyone else having trouble with the actual drill chuck assembly? The mandrel is just too big and the bearings, chuck, belt dont fit on it. Ive ordered multiple because i thought it was maybe just a mistake, but no amount of hammering or lubricant will get these pieces to go together. The rest of the jig was easy to build, im just struggling with the initial assembly.

Hi Mr. Kress! My wife sent me your video and we're gearing up to take this project on for all the windows in our place. I think it's a great video, but I had some clarifying questions I was hoping you could elaborate on: - What size screws pocket screws do you use? - How far do the pocket holes need to be drilled from the edge? Or does the Jig kit explain it for me? - When subtracting the measurements of both the styles and the rails, do you double the 0.25" thickness of the weather stripping? Or do you only subtract the single 0.25" so that it is a tight fit? - When you're applying the weather stripping, do you wrap it *around* the corners, or do you cut a new strip? You mention trying to limit air leakage and I'm not sure which would have better seal integrity - Your list of materials in the description mentions Light vs Heavy duty plastic, but in the video you verbally mention "thicker plastic"--the easy assumption is that you used the heavy duty, but the description also mentions that there's clarity differences between the two options. I just want to make sure the one you used in the video is the heavy duty so I can have a reference for how it looks before deciding which to purchase

Fantastically useful video - many thanks! I've recently been after a 4" double square to complement my 12" combo square, and had been considering ordering the much cheaper iGaging, but because I value the feel and smoothness of the blade adjustment above everything else (any sticking/grinding/stiffness in the sliding would drive me absolutely mad), I'm glad I now know to just save up for the Starrett.

This may have been addressed in the plans already, but one hiccup with the jig is that it can only accommodate 1 mandrel size. If you need multiple sizes of rings this may not work. You could replace the hardwood with the correctly sizes hole, but it would be impossible to make the hole smaller on the main jig itself

What is the value of hanging the bins by the small plastic lip? Putting a "floor" on each bin (while more expensive) would ensure the bins don't have to be replaced due to the edges wearing out.

Nylon is insanely hygroscopic. Absorption rate per minute is significantly higher than any other material. And the consequences of water absorption are catastrophic. Never ever leave it out in the open not even for 30 minutes. Keep in sealed container with desiccant beads such as 4A Molecular Sieve. They do the best job at h20 absorption Drying: 90C is required if you use high quality nylon 70C will not work. G10 with hyperlock and bed clamps(yes these three with use of x1C And yeah a lot more to it than this… PAHT, PA, PACF PAGF, PAHT CF, PA6, PA12. A lot of nylons out there that have different properties and different requirements.

A couple thoughts, the end of your brads have an angle cut on them to make a point. This angle can cause the brad to deflect and break out. Just turn your gun, so this is not an issue. Other thoughts are to add a laminate top to hide your beautiful finish, or hardboard, but the hardboard might be difficult because of the size of you going a full 4x8 sheet.
