I saw this the night it aired and was my introduction the The Strokes at 12 years old. Now 30 years old and I'm so hype for their new album this year I had to come back and pay my respects.

I remember I came across this album by chance. I opened the list of best indie albums or something. Downloaded three: one from Velvet Underground, this one, and Mile goes to college or something. And what was ironic, this song later became some kind of a prophecy. At this time I began dating my girlfriend. She was living in student dormitory. At evening only the people who live there could enter, but on the outside there was a ladder. If you climb it, you would get to the roof of the first floor, and then you can jump to the balcony and climb it to get inside. I used this trick to get to her dorm when it was late. Sometimes I did it to make up with her after we argued. At that moments the whole "Lied to get to your apartment" and "can't you see I'm trying I don't even like it" were really describing the feeling. Once, however, when I did it I looked and saw an old guard. He was very sweet. Always smiling, and old. He was walking around the building. I felt like shit. I think I prayed that my stupid actions did not hurt his salary. It was such a relief to see him on duty again after that. Out of respect I stopped doing it

@@TheXandemic jeez hope you find that peace someday... I was in that same spot drinking a case a day + addicted to adderall to keep me functionable and 2 years ago got a dui that forced me to wake up and now I feel so much better physically and spiritually. Good luck you got this!
