I seem to think he really enjoys the music and he probably also did some lines or other kind of stimulant... i reckon that he as many others in tis theatre are not too familiar with the strokes and were just happy to catch a decent show at 2 dollars... they weren't very famous at that time in the us. u know?

When I first heard this song along with the rest of the album, my whole perspective on life changed. The Strokes made me feel something I had never felt before. It's because of them that I started playing and writing music in my own band. You guys should come check it out. You won't regret it.
Holy fuck, you guys comment on every single The Strokes video. Nobody cares about your shitty fucking music. Nobody falls for your clear advertisement for your shitty ass band.
Me too. We were the Desasterz. Plastiscines rose up to some success, their second album is great. Dirty Jacket were great too. It sucks how music isn’t a helium balloon by any means.
Angela I wasn't at the Gov Ball, but just judging by the videos, you can tell that he's lost that gusto or roughness to his voice. Whenever he has a go at it again, it goes all over the place which is understandable cause he isn't young anymore.
now he seems bored everything he does with the strokes. Too bad. The band is clearly past its time... and though it still is one of my favorites, I think it's pretty clear they're never gonna make something like Is This It or Room on Fire again. Still.. First Impressions and Angles were good for me.. hope the next one will be at least that level.
The strokes= snare drum recordings with a towel on it (I believe made infamous by Ringo) a rhythm guitar with a punk style, one downward hit staccato delivery, a lead guitar with tasty licks and a huggable lead singer. All delivered in a raw, lo-fi, short, snappy 3 minutes. What's not to love?
What a classic performance. I remember coming home from school in the 8th grade (2/2/02), turning on MTV2, and being completely mesmerized. Was the coolest thing ever, esp. here when Julian climbs into the audience.. Was my introduction to The Strokes~ ended up listening to Is This It every day for like a year~ about the same for RoF and FIoE. I'm so glad that 10 years later they're still making music. I love Angles and they're already set to work on the next album around the middle of April.
@@arditavukaj hell yea! I finally got to see them at GovBall 2016 it was awesome. Was there again in 2019 - it was canceled by a thunderstorm before they came on, but I saw them on NYE 2019 in Brooklyn and last year on the RHCP tour with my sis.
I'm from Spain. In 2003-2004 my brother has a DVD with this performance. We always laughed with the crazy guy with hat, and my friends too. Time flies...
By that logic, every song on their first two albums should have official videos. This probably isnt even in my top half of songs on Is This it but its still awesome like all the songs on their first two albums.
Man this song gets me soooo pumped!!! In any performance of this song you can feel the passion and raw emotion of Jules' voice grabbing a hold of you. AMAZING!!!
I was 13 when this album came out, and my older sister had this cd. I would always listen to it every time she left the house, and I remember this song in particular being my favorite, the closing song on the album. After that I fell into a hole of obsessively listening to classic rock, punk, prog, glam, blues, whatever. I just remembered a few days ago that this was one of the first rock songs I obsessed about as a young’n. The Strokes and The White stripes made me want to go back and listen to all their influences. I’m 30 years old now, and I want to record my own albums and have written about 30 songs. It’s funny to think your passion can all start with hearing one song on your older sisters cd.
Awesome arrangement and singing from yall! This was righteous as all get out. I really appreciate have the duet to really get those two vocal parts and their awesome harmony in the chorus. Would love to hear it with an even larger ensemble with small sections doing that just to hear even more of it. And the ending? Great choice.
Daniel Aristiguieta Remastered? Looks like it was videotaped, which isn't surprising for a 2001 concert. I doubt it can look much better than this, aside from TH-cam compression.
Still can't believe I saw them live October 06 2010 with my dear friend !!!!!! The talent that is second only to the element of down to earth they beam out. What you see is what you get ...love it !!
What a bold and original sound they launched from the very first album. It's based on the hard and relentless strumming of both guitarists (they are also capable of brief but brilliant solos) with the highly stylized vocals of Casablanca leading the songs from one sharp twisting curve to another, like a runaway roller coaster where the wild ride somehow ends in a sudden calm. How did Casablanca get both cool looks and a cool name? And I haven't even mentioned his genius songwriting skills...
I always interpreted this song as "Your boys are too much, your girls are too tough" being a metaphor for the drugs available from his dealer (boys are too expensive, girls having a horrible comedown but cheaper) and says he can take it or leave it and isn't addicted Beautiful stuff!
I love how the quality of this video makes it look like it was recorded in the mid 80s.

Leave me alone

And girls lie too much

He's gonna let you down
He's gonna let you down
He's gonna break your back for a chance
He's gonna steal your friends if he can
He's gonna win someday
I fell off the track
Now I can't go back
I'm not like that
Boys lie too much
Girls act too tough
Enough is enough
Well on the minds
Of other girls

I said, "Just take it or leave it
And take it or leave it
And take it or leave it
And take it or leave it
Oh, just take it or leave it
And take it or leave it
