  • *Edit: GUUUYS I'm the dummiest dummy after reading all your tips and tricks (thank you btw!). So definitely take this with the grainiest bit of salt because I didn't line or blot my lips properly. But hopefully me being a dummy is entertaining at least 😂**
    Hiiii! So some of you will probably hate this, but I wanted to be completely honest because I think it's important!
    Sometimes drugstore brands are just as good. ;)
    I love you all!!

    hi Rachel. I have a bunch of besame lipsticks. you must blot after the first application. then re apply and blot one last time. you'll get a ton less transfer. and it will last practically all day unless you're eating ice cream or ribs, something with that type of texture.
    you'll love besame I promise. the perfumes, powders omg. and I've had my lipsticks since last year. they're still lasting after 90 percent wear every week. powders too, I just ran out of the first powder I got last year this time.
    sorry for the long message. I'm a besame nerd 😅😅

      Raven Claw1280 I'll try it! But even after I got rid of most of it (on my hand and the cup) It was still smudging even if barely touched it 😂 Would a lip liner help? It was getting all over the crease of my mouth and stuff too hahaha

    • @RavenClaw-js1mt
      @RavenClaw-js1mt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Strange. But victory is, at least to me, one of the creamier besame lipsticks, so blotting a bit more may be necessary... it may still transfer too much to your liking though. Besame merlot and red hot red to me are the best at practically not transferring after two blots... at least for me. But again, for me, the lipsticks last all day thru drinking and eating (unless it's creamy food that gets on my lips or I'm inhaling a sandwich or something).
      I've not used a lip liner since freshman year high school, 1996 lol. A friend of mine has besame liners, she's not said if it helps or not. Definetely give a liner that you have on hand a go, no harm in trying.
      Suggestion for the pin, email besame about getting one. They'll be able to say when and if they'll have another supply. If you find they're not bringing them back ever, give me a ping, I've not used mine. You're welcome to it if you'd like.

      The Pinup Companion also, try using setting powder to keep it in place as well! Apply the powder generously, let it sit a few seconds and then use a clean brush to lightly brush off the excess powder and it shouldn't smudge as much!

    Heyooo! Sorry about how crazy the lighting/color temperature/motorcycles are in this, hahaha. But anyways I hope this isn't too boring. Also just wanna clarify this isn't a direct comparison because I know they're completely different lipsticks. I more or less wanted to show the kind I wear every day so you can see what I'm used to, and also that you can get similar shades for half the price 😂👌

      The Pinup Companion I do understand your point. Sometimes it's frustrating to see lipstick everywhere around us. Still, I keep going for regular lipstick or a not so permanent formula. I do this because I feel like more permanent options make my lips super dry. And being someone already with pretty dry skin, that means trouble. So I find myself weighting the options every time I go to buy lipstick.

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @rita .Sassatelli Totally! And that's why I said lipstick is different for every person. Some don't like transfer, and some don't mind it because of the moisturizing. It's all a game of trial and error, hahaha

      As a messy person too, I mostly use lip tints so I never stains anything -I'm a big fan of korean cosmetics, so I only know korean brands, but if you ever want to try some for cheap, the Tony Moly lip tints are nice :3

    Liquid lipstick will always win out over a cream lipstick when it comes to transfer tests. As far as cream lipstick and vintage inspired lipstick goes it is fabulous but the formula is just not going to work for you and your expectations. And that's ok! Stick with what works for you.
    When you do wear this one, I would apply with a brush, blot, apply again with brush or from tube, then blot again. That is how they suggest you apply it for minimal transfer and maximum staying power (for a cream lipstick). 💋

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Kendra veganbombshell I will definitely do that! I feel kinda awful for not having known this lol

      Bailey Tucker Yes! I have 7 shades of Besame lipsticks and am obsessed with them. I have tried tons of liquid lipsticks and I don't like them, I can't function with the wands and they just feel uncomfortable and not glamorous (to me at least).
      I apply my Besame lipsticks first generally with the tube, then even it out and line with a brush, blot, go back in with the tube, then blot twice. I find it stays locked into my lips pretty well after that. It still isn't transfer proof but it doesn't claim to be. I think it also has to do with what you (general "you", not YOU "you", if that makes any sense) are expecting out of individual products, whether they market them as transfer proof or they don't, for example.
      Personal preference is cool, I don't like liquid lipsticks, personally, but it is totally cool that others do, we all have different wants and needs and our preferences should accommodate those needs and wants. :)

    Great video. Your trusty Maybelline shade looks beautiful on you as always. Personally, I'm a traditional tube lipstick kind of girl. Never really jumped on the liquid lipstick bandwagon but in my mind they're very different beasts. Difficult to compare the two but if you're looking to get some wear out of your besame, I would suggest filling in your entire lip with a liner first and also blotting with a tissue after you're done applying victory red. The lipstick is pigmented enough where it won't look any different but it will get rid of any excess so there will be less transfer. I have a few besame shades and wearing them this way, I can get a good 6-8 hours wear even with eating and drinking. :)

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      WordsofaReader I'll try the lip liner trick! Yeah they definitely are two different beasts, but I just wanted to show that the shades are pretty similar and they generally last longer ❤️

  • @blackpinups
    @blackpinups 7 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    I AM OBSESSED WITH BESAME COSMETICS! Yes it does transfer but it stains your lips. I went 8 hours without having to reapply lipstick. Another vintage trick is line your lips, lipstick, and put powder over it, then reline your lips and put lipstick on. It's an old trick. But their lipsticks stain your lips and last all day. And after it transfers it stops. If I just put on my lipstick and I drink water it will come off but after 4 sips it stops transferring and stays on. It is heavily pigmented and there are times when using a makeup wipe doesn't help whatsoever! Especially with Besame Red, Victory Red, and American Beauty. Another reason why I love them.

    • @LeeLeeBellePBJLee
      @LeeLeeBellePBJLee 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BlackPin Ups Yes! I love Besame lipsticks! The stain is real and I love it!
      I will have to try your technique! I typically apply, blot, apply again, and blot again twice and it keeps it in place for hours.

    I love besame lipsticks! I know some have pointed out the blot/powder trick(there's a guide in the box) their lipsticks are some of the bullet lipsticks that stay best on me! I can't do the liquid to matte ones because my lips are sooooo dry :( we all have different preferences, both looked great on you! Xx

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't even think I looked at the paper in the box, which totally would've helped me, hahaha. Totally! I know the Maybelline kind won't be for everyone, we all have different lips ❤️

    • @nureinherz
      @nureinherz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      tried different shades of the Maybelline super stay and hated them all. My lips felt like not part of my body anymore, so dry, and sticky at the same time. Terrible unnatural feeling. I found other matte lipsticks that I liked (but in bullets), some really affordable drugstore ones are quite good (like some from Essence), but the besame lipsticks are still my favourites, and the Victory red is my all time favourite shade :-) My second favourite shade is the 1920s Besame red. I also love how they shape their lipsticks. And of course you are right about the blotting!

    That really is a beautiful color. Thing is, regular creme lipsticks smudge like that. The drugstore option claimed it was 24h, so naturally it wouldn't transfer much. Not the fairest comparison in that respect.

    I just bought my two first Bésame lipsticks last week. 1970 Chocolate Kiss and 1959 Red Hot Red. They’re my favorite lipsticks I’ve ever worn! I’m actually not a liquid lip person like most people are these days. I just don’t mind the reapplication but I can totally understand why others do. I also prefer a cream, glossy, or metallic finish to matte (I do love metallic matte though), so that alone steers me away from the majority of liquid lipsticks. I’d suggest use a lipliner first! For me, that’s made a world of difference. But sometimes I’m picky on the color of my liner matching the lipstick itself, if you’re like that too, I’d really suggest using a lip brush! They have a beautiful travel one, but I just use a drugstore brush brand one and it works just fine! Like a dream. I just really love the tradition of applying classic tube lipstick, especially with a brush. It feels timeless.

    My grandma was a red lipstick wearer every day. Her face wasn’t on without her signature red lipstick. You always knew grandma was nearby with her lipstick trail.... on a mug, on a fork, on your cheek.... Truly authentic. The blot with the tissue ‘trick’ was pretty standard advice. And, some would even advise to take a tissue, then separate it into its 2 layers so you get a very sheer single layer. Then gently lay it against your lips/lipstick and add a fine dusting of powder (which at the time would have been with a powder puff). One last application if desired with another single blot and you wouldn’t need to add any more lipstick until after a meal, or some strategically designed time to ‘powder your nose’ and move on from the socializing.

    Honestly everyone has their own likes and dislikes! Besame is awesome but not all brands will be everyones cup of tea. Wearing Cherry Red currently & LOVING IT still on after a full day. She rocks both of them & felt more comfortable with the one she was used to, I can definitely relate I don't like some brands products but they might be another persons holy grail, that's the great thing about being humans is we get to be so different!!

    Hello Rachel, I have just tried Besame Victory Red. I took a page out of my mothers book( she was in her teen's and twenty's in the middle 40's to 50's), I took a tissue to blot the lipstick. It does help combat the transfer problem, just a little bit. My mother continued to wear the same simple style of makeup throughout her lifetime without trying any fads. I am trying to emulate her, but have had to start from scratch .When you mentioned using Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour Lip Colour -(Keep it Red,) I was reminded of Jessica Kellgren-Fozard who uses Lipstick: Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour Lip Colour (542 Cherry Pie) . Love both of you. Tricia B 👄💄

    I'm late to this party but that is exactly the kind of testing I do on a lipstick before I use it. I am 43 and rarely wear makeup at this point because so much of the lipsticks have the transfer issue. Thanks for this. I love the concept of Besime. The historical reproductions are amazing. I've never had good experiences with cream lipsticks. I'm totally going on the hunt for the kind you use because that's what I've been striving to get for years.

    Oh, this made me laugh - I love your videos! The Besame is a classic lipstick (requiring lip pencil and blotting - the whole shebang), so definitely not comparable with a liquid matte one. Part of the classic experience is reapplying throughout the day as needed, too. I love both formulas, just depends on what I plan to do on the day. There's definitely a learning curve with a classic lipstick, which we all went through so no worries! You'll get the hang of it - because who can resist that shade;)

    Thank you! I watched this review knowing I can't really afford/buy Besame where I live but I enjoy your videos. Then you spoke about liquid red lipcolour and I went and bought some Maybelline 24hr one in red to try and see. I used to buy lipsticks instead and the wear and transfer was so frustrating and paranoia inducing! Wore the red yesterday and it stayed! Yes, I had to re-apply after food, but I was so happy. I had red lips even when I got home a few hours later. I felt so pretty and much more confident. ^_^ Thanks for the honest reviews and opening up the world of liquid lip colour to a newbie!

    That Maybelline transfer test was impressive!
    I don't even like to pay $8 for lipstick, so I have been using a $2 tube of Wet & Wild Cinnamon Spice (which has amazing staying power for $2).
    I may have to drop the $8 on a tube of your stuff!
    I am leary of true reds, but I love a cinnamon or even a reddish plum. Maybe they will have a color to suit me in the 24 hour selection!

    The formula is known to be excellent. This is my favorite company these days. The color looks amazing. I think in regards to application- you may to trying to blot off the first layer and then re-apply. Also, use a lip brush. You look fabulous in both colors.

    Hello, Rachel! I personally prefer classic tube lipstick and use it every day. My saver has been clear silicone lip pencil. Nearly all drugstore brands make these. I apply it all over the lips and around to prevent bleeding. It gives your lips the grip for the lipstick to stick better and mattifies it. Also, blot after first coat and reapply as was suggested below. I really hope this helps! 💋

    I'm a big Besame fan, and a tissue placed over the lips and a tap with a powdered brush (plus the old stand by of blotting) really help. That ridge on top is meant to help you line your lips and it definitely is tricky if you're not used to it! I do think part of the appeal of Besame is that it's an authentic, honest to goodness lipstick and that does include leaving a little red on someone you've kissed but as far as practicality goes, with modern liquid lipsticks it really isn't for everyone. PS, Your dog is so cute!

      No, you shouldn't feel bad, the video was great and (at least to me) it never came off as anything but 'how does this product stack up to my favorite product'. Not everyone is a traditional lipstick person, there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, both lipsticks look great on you!

      Just wanna add that in vintage times, women set their lipstick with a layer of powder before application, another layer of powder after application, then another layer of lipstick, then another layer of powder. Oh, I'm not sure when to stop. It's not as foolproof as the kissable lipsticks with wands. I think the wands are magic, after all.💋

    Hi! I love your videos!
    That being said, I have the 1941 victory red from Besame and I found it applies less messily if I use a lip brush. Also, apply, blot, apply, blot, finish with burts bees beeswax balm. It'll stay forever after that, and transfer is minimal at most.

  • @liselotte5452
    @liselotte5452 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is my fav video of yours so far!!! This one is so funny omg. I tried out this lipstick yesterday, funnily enough, and I noticed that if you keep it on longer, it won't transfer after a while. I like to smooch my boyfriend and his cat and there was no transfer and the lipstick still looked good, so maybe it was just too fresh? Well, anyways, I loved this video! You should do comparisons more often, if you were thinking about it, it's a lot of fun! :D ♥

      The Pinup Companion Ditto with what Lilo said! Don't feel bad or dumb! It was something new to you, we all continue to learn our whole lives and it was something you weren't used to. If I did the same comparison video I would have the exact opposite problem that you had, I wouldn't know how to get a liquid lipstick to work well or be comfortable for me. I have tried a bunch of different ones and I am a total klutz with them so there is a ton of frantic cleanup going on then once they finally set I feel like I spent a month in the desert because they dry my lips out like mad, haha. We all have different skin types and needs.

    Lipsticks don't typically stay on me more than an hour. I don't seem to have that issue with Besame. I know they are super highly pigmented so that may be your issue with transfer. This is what I do. It has taken me some time to find the right combination for my skin texture which is dehydrated but on the oily side. I have used their liners (the original that came with their large red velvet set now discontinued.) I have not tried the new forum at ion of liners so can not comment on it. The liner combo I am using now is super cheap Jordana plum...cheap but works as a fill in color, and recently started using the BH liner (don't remember exact color atm) they matting and dry to a smudge proof finish. I find the bh liner is a bit heavy so just use it to line my lip then use my lip brush to buff it out, then fill with Jordana. With Besame less is more due to the highly pigmented nature. Used as such those small tubes last me a couple years or more. I either tap it on over the liner to fill or will use a lip brush to pick up a small amount then blend it into the lip to set it in place. It lasts all day and into the evening. Like seriously spent entire days in New Orleans partying away and enjoying the cuisine and did not need to reapply unless I ate something super greasy then just need to dap the center slightly. I know no one thing works for everyone but find that due to the highly pigmented nature a light hand works better.

    You are freakin adorable! I love how your puppy keeps trying to get on camera. And your reactions to him. Lol. Subscribed! I use Maybelline 24 hour too, but I find it wears off when I eat and drink. Especially on the inner part of the lip. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

    • @rachelmaksy
      @rachelmaksy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aww hehe thank you!! I don't use the balm side at all, so maybe that affects how long it lasts? If I'm eating oily foods then it definitely doesn't last as long, but usually I don't have to reapply all day even after eating 😊

    Hi cutie, loved the video. I've never really had interest in any of the besame cosmetics, but the way the look is absolutely gorgeous. To be honest, I prefer a liquid-to-matte lipstick over a creamy/glossy one, even if it does not give that vintage feeling. If you want a lipstick that lasts all day and that has minimal transferring I would recommend you Jeffree Star's Redrum. If you don't like his personality it's fine, but his lipstick are really made to last. I have got my redrum almost 4 times re-bought, since it is just a really good lipstick. Maybe it's a little bit pricey ($18, but for example on black Friday's $12) but I think it's worth it. You looked really beautiful in this video!

    New subbie :) I really love the L'Oreal Made For Me Reds in Blake - it's kinda in the middle for transfer...quite matte and long lasting but you don't leave lippy on every surface you connect with! My daughter swears by a Sephora Lip Ink but I found it drying (and expensive!) but there's also a product called Lipcote here in the UK which helps with transfer..you just paint it on over your lipstick and it seals it...stings and tingles when you first apply it though! :D I really like the Besame on you btw. Looks pwetty :) x

    LINE AND BLOT! That's the best thing I've found, particularly with Besame.
    They say you can use the lipstick as a liner but I find it bleeds more throughout the day if I do that. Find any red liner that matches (I often find the cheaper brands work best for lining).
    Use a tissue to blot after the first application. Apply a second layer.
    Sometimes if I want super stay lips I will blot a second time through one very thin ply of tissue, but blot using a setting powder (so tissue over the mouth and apply powder to the tissue, use a brush to dab powder through) and apply a third layer.
    I found that Besame's reds stay a lot better than any of the other colours....the 1931 Merlot is a to diiieeeeee for colour but disappears quite quickly.
    My 1941 is incredibly grainy and bitty, not sure if that's the usual or just a fault with the batch mine came from.
    I will definitely be trying the Maybelline one though now! That stuffs invincible!!

      It's a secret artform that even I only just figured out myself. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't completely transfer proof the Besame lipsticks but it helps so much and doesn't transfer half as much as you'd have found when filming this.
      I once, at a 1940's re-enactment event, made my 1941 last all day....without re-applying! How you may ask? I haven't the foggiest.

    As someone already said if you line your lips and fill them in with lip liner then apply your lippie then blot with tissue paper, then re-apply lipstick it will last longer, or at least fade more gracefully. You can also give it a light stroke of powder keeping the aforementioned tissue paper on your lips.
    Admittedly that's a lot of work! Sometimes "modern" liquid lipsticks are just easier. :P

    With deep pigment « bullet » lipstick (like Besame), I use a ‘waxy’ lip liner first, then apply the lipstick with a lip brush, wait 40 seconds and then I blot with tissue. Holds up well.
    During the rest of the day, if I decide to touch up, I’ll use a sheerer, less-pigmented lip product in a few quick swipes.
    Nonetheless, I am most likely to go buy that Maybelline color you use!

    I've been trying to get my paws on that shade for so long!😂 I have Merlot and YES it's so messy it hurts especially when applying😫 blotting does help a ton though and it does wear nicely afterwards. I sometimes make the mistake of putting too much on and then later on the inner part of my lips get gummy. So I'd say one good layer is fine and a lipliner does help too😅 I like the suavecita pomade lipstick as more of an everyday sort of thing because it's dries down more than besame lipstick, wears very well, smells great, doesn't over dry my lips, color payoff is nice (I have the shade "STRUT"), and the packaging is awesome. Hope this helps at least a bit lol😄

    tbh, while i adore besame cosmetics, i am really glad i managed to snag their mini lipsticks set last winter. it was a great way to try out various shades and get used to the formula. i actually usually wear them as more of a lip stain, myself, because i bite and lick my lips compulsively, and using it as a tint/stain is much more forgiving when you have those nervous habits.
    the maybelline liquid lips formula is definitely superior so far as transfer test go, but besame lipsticks just feel so /nice/ on the lips. if they come out with another mini lipstick set for the 2017 holiday season, i'd recommend picking it up! while the minis are super tiny, they still do last awhile.
    also, yeah, like everyone else said, you really do need to blot these lipsticks and use a liner if possible. the formula is not meant for unlined, unblotted lips.

    I think that these lipsticks will never win a transfer test against a matte or liquid lipstick, but I will say they are some of the most long lasting tube lipsticks I've tried. I've never done the blotting or powdering thing people suggest but when I wear Victory Red, I can eat anything and it barely moves. Not just that, but it fades better than my liquid lipsticks so I don't worry about it if I can't immediately reply. Definitely keep working at it if you want to!

    For transfer:
    A. Beseme products are best when you apply a layer then blot, then apply another layer and blot again.
    B. If you don’t want to do that, or you just want it to stay on really good and not transfer, set it with powder. You can use translucent powder or eyeshadow in the same color as the lipstick (though keep in mind, this can make your lips really dry and powdered. It may also come off in small ball clumps)
    C. (My personal favorite) if you want to do several of these you can, but for me I use this one trick and A. Set it with setting spray! If you don’t use setting spray this can be a hassle, but I already use it so I just spray a ton of setting spray all over my lips and sometime spray my fingers and apply it directly to my lips.
    I hope these tips help if you really want to use the beseme lipsticks, or any other lipsticks similar. I am a clumsy toddler when it comes to makeup and lipstick so I extra set everything. For my liquid lipsticks are way to drying for my lips, so I just really set normal lipsticks.

    I agree. I've been wanting to find more lipsticks that actually stay put, but the Besame colors entice me so. I nearly shelled out on a tube of their "Red Velvet" color recently, but I stopped myself. I actually owned "Victory Red" before until I left it in a coat pocket by accident (then laundry happened 😢) I've been looking for a cheaper alternative to avenge its untimely death. Is Maybelline SuperStay your go-to, or have you tried other liquid lipsticks and liked them?

      unknowndeoxys00 It is my go-to for sure! I've tried Stila, Colourpop, etc and found their liquid lipsticks transferred like crazy also. Maybelline is surprisingly the only liquid lipstick I've found that doesn't, which is fine with me cuz it's cheap 😂😂

    Hey lovely. I completely understand your transfer frustrations as I came to Besame from only using liquid lipstick myself. What I have found works really well is applying once and then blotting and then applying another layer on top and blotting lightly again. I wear Victory Red every day to work and most days I wear it for close to 9 hours and it still looks perfect when I get home. You have to play around with Besame and see what works for you but when it works its amazing. Ill never go back to liquid lipsticks myself. Good Luck!!

    A difference worth noting in regard to the price difference - that you alluded to indirectly in the video in mentioning really liking/ respecting Besamé as a company - is the reason behind the significant price difference. The brands, and in turn who & what any purchase is ultimately supporting, are vastly different. One is a small independent brand that is meaningfully curated, very transparent about their production process, & cruelty free whereas the other is a multi-national conglomerate that tests on animals & is far from transparent about their production, ingredient sourcing, etc. And that only touches on a few points, as many more could be included for both companies. Of course such things don't matter to everyone but I firmly believe that where we put our dollars is essentially like voting. My purchasing habits are far from perfect but IMO one doesn't have to be "perfect" - whatever that even is - to make trying worthwhile. I've been a cruelty-free buyer for years but am more & more trying to educate myself beyond "just" animal testing & be more conscientious overall re: what & who I support w/ my purchases. I am VERY aware that budgetary constraints can't be ignored - I myself have a VERY limited budget due to ongoing serious illness & the associated costs of everything from round the clock daily IVs to needed meds, machines, & supplies to hospitalizations - but I still have choices re: how & where I spend what I do have & have come to realize that in many/ most cases I'm better off buying one better quality, more ethically produced/ sourced, & yes, pricier, item than several lesser quality/ cheaper alternatives. In addition to the better quality of the more expensive item more often than not it will wear/ last much longer & more times than not I find myself genuinely enjoying it FAR more...to the extent that, in many cases, I would prefer to have one of the pricier items than several of the cheaper alternatives.
    Now of course I am not saying that more expensive always correlates to better quality or ethics as that is definitely NOT the case, esp when it comes to many larger name brands; equally true is the fact that there are definitely great deals to be had w/ in the realm of more conscientious purchasing & by no means does less expensive always mean inferior. Many small brands/ "indies" are in fact priced very reasonably relative to their quality as you're buying direct rather than through a store &/ or distributor, all of which need to be paid.
    Discounts/ sales, secondhand/ thrifting, &/ or buying off season can all be great ways to purchase from brands you feel better about supporting as well.
    So yeah....now that I've nearly written a novelette....
    Mostly I just wanted to add these issues to the discussion. I'm well aware that many don't care but IMO not knowing the issues exist is different than not caring, & I think we should all at least be aware that they exist so that we can each make decisions accordingly. I also know full well that said issues can be quite overwhelming individually - never mind so when looked at collectively - such that makes it tempting to say "why bother?" But as with many things in life it's not an all or nothing proposition, & the reality that none of us can do it all, so to speak, isn't reason to do nothing. Insert the applicable cheesy inspirational quote of your choosing, i.e. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

      Totally agree! I think Besame's cosmetics are well-priced for them, and I'm glad other people feel that way too. But for me personally, it's a bit too much, considering I'm a huuuge cheapskate hahaha. Everyone's different, and we all spend our money different ways. For me, the Maybelline suits my lifestyle better, and although it doesn't have as much love and passion behind it as the Besame brand does, the price and durability win me over. I hope to support Besame as much as I can without forcing myself to buy products that don't work for me though!

    I'm team Maybelline 24hrs too. It's too convenient, it lasts forever and you don't stain anything. But today I bought a Revlon in a vintage color from 1952, and today has been an adventure, I haven't wear an old fashioned lipstick in years... But I want to do it just for the vintage experience. I'd also love to buy everything from Bésame, but it is too expensive and too far away from me, which makes it even more expensive...life is so unfair... 💄

    With lipsticks like these I always have more success when it comes to keeping the product on my lips when I apply, then blot, apply and blot again. Another great product for helping lipsticks wear longer is a lip stick sealing liquid called Lipcoat. It applies over basically any type of lipstick once dry and will create a protective barrier that doesn't alter the colour but can sometimes slightly mattify its texture which is part of what helps it last longer. I'm not sure if it can be found in the US but over here in the UK it is most women's secret weapon! Its cheaper than most drugstore brand lipsticks to buy and will last you forever! I always keep one to hand just in case but usually i find if i apply it in the morning i will get around 16-20 hours of wear from a liptick that would last me maybe a couple hours without it!
    I wouldnt say it is 100% smudge proof as it does depend somewhat on the lipstick you are putting it over but it works very nicely with my maybelline lipsticks and works equally well on top if my Mac or Dior lipsticks :) I'd be more than happy to find you a link if you haven't already heard of it!

    With cream lipsticks, you can also extend the staying power by blotting then applying an eyeshadow in the same colour as your lip product.

    I collect vintage makeup and Besame I love. They have powders is the cutest packaging and cake mascara. The lipsticks are pricy but will last you a long time. I have a mini perfume set with the same packaging as the lipsticks.❤
